I purchased a brand-new shotgun from this location, only to find the barrel coating chipped and the rib bent as soon as I got home. I drove 40 miles back to the store—this was the only location that had it in stock—expecting a refund or exchange. Instead, the gun manager told me they couldn’t do either and that it had to be sent to the manufacturer for repair.
Three months later, I was called to pick it up, only to discover nothing had been fixed because the store listed the wrong issue (“double feeding”) on the repair slip. Back it went for another four months. When I finally received it again, the new barrel hadn’t even been protected during shipping—another chip and visible rub marks due to careless packaging.
What made this worse was the lack of support from the store. The gun manager and store manager were unhelpful throughout. When I asked them to contact the manufacturer for a status update, I was told they couldn’t—and I had to do all the follow-up myself.
I expected better customer care and communication—especially after the second shipment was only necessary because of their own mistake on the repair slip.

I spent 15 hundred plus dollars on a bow that these people have lost and now I have no bow because of this they tried to give me a bow that was missing parts . These people have no respect for you or what you buy from them . So from one sportsman to another go somewhere else.

Im not a review person, but this place has been the worse experience ever. I went to buy a gun 2 weeks ago and they took all my information and said they would call me next day with an answer because the BCI department was closed and they had to call them to go over some details. I personally talked to Josh their manager whom by the way is NEVER at the store, he said he would call me next day and never did. I kept calling looking to know the status of my application and nobody would have an answer for me. After 2 weeks of no answer I went to the store yesterday and “Parker” another manager apologized and said he had taken the matter over to Dylan another “manager”. He also said they would call me which they never did. So I called back again today, I talked to Parker and he said my application has been “denied” because “there’s too much gray area”. I asked for an explanation as I don’t even have a traffic ticket on my record and friends of mine from the homeland security department have assured me I can carry a gun and he would not explain the situation he just said “we don’t have to sell a gun to a person if we don’t want to”. This sounded VERY HIGHLY DISCRIMINATORY. I can lawfully hold a gun in the United States and you are violating my right because I’m not a citizen but instead a lawful permanent resident. I have provided them with my greencard and all my lawful documentation. I’m contacting the BCI department and ATF to leave a complaint and follow up on this. Please keep yourself away from this store. The customer service is terrible and the managers are NEVER THERE!
They are also DISCRIMINATIVE!
UPDATE: I called the BCI and they have told me that under the statue UCA 53-10-108 I should be able to get an answer of the reason why sportsman’s is denying my application so that I can challenge it with an attorney. So I contacted sportsman’s again and the manager said “listen I’m going to tell you one last time and then I’ll end the conversation I will not provide you with anything” and he hung up on me.

Fantastic service at the gun counter by Doug! Doug found the exact gun I was looking for and made the whole experience excellent! People like Doug are why I go to sportsman’s in Midvale! The other gun counter staff were excellent as well!

Excellent service, very knowledgeable staff, great selection of firearms. Can't wait for the "Assault weapon" ban to be overturned so quality rifles can return to inventory.

Had some of the camping items needed, but definitely not all. A nice, expensive stop before I was forced to go to Walmart anyway, I guess.

God forbid you have to return anything cause if you do expect to wait 3-4 weeks! to get refunded only partial payment on an order Ridiculous! you've had the item for two weeks and still haven't gave me all my money back! Will never come back because of this how could you give me only partial payment when I returned 100 percent of the order. Still waiting for 500 dollars to show up on a gift card
