This place used to be my favorite Mexican spot. I'm sad to see that it has gone downhill. Staff, while polite, were rather unprofessional (playing on their phones, seemingly annoyed that they had customers, short and cold communication, etc). The decor was all covered in a thick layer of dust. The food was lackluster. The only thing sadder than not caring enough to stay for dessert was the "Best Margherita" award from over 20 years ago displayed proudly over the bar. Do better Tres Hombres. You used to rock.Edit**Fantastic response from the team here. I've adjusted the rating accordingly. Love the engagement and actions taken. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The food was hit or miss and overall just average. My husband and daughter liked the fajitas and my other daughter was pleased that the avocado salad had a lot of avocados. I had the mole, which wasn't that great. I liked the blue corn tortillas, but the mole sauce wasn't good. We also got a virgin margarita that was so watered down that you could barely taste the lime. Fortunately the waiter was great (and attentive) and brought me a virgin strawberry daiquiri to replace it. It was better, but a bit too sweet. The chips were warm and the salsa was really good. Overall, it was fine, but there are better options in the area

We came for a family outing with many from out of state attending. This was only one of a few that would take a reservation for a large party in advance. They have a great menu of food and drinks. Really Good Mexican food, large variety menu including bar service. The freshly made tortilla chips are awesome and all of our food orders were very tasty. We will come here again.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Also a great food and family atmosphere if you have small children, or quieter more romantic areas for the special date. We really liked Tres Hombre's and the decor is so interesting and attractive. They also have gluten-free options which is great for us and were helpful concerning diabetic diet.Kid-friendliness: Our little ones were welcomed and really enjoyed the atmosphere, decor, and food.

Food is GREAT!!! Its consistent - I've gone there for years, since the early 1980s up until 2024. At some point they went through a change and the food went downhill and I didn't go there for a long time. But, for the last 5-6 years, it has been solidly, consistenly good. If you go there, find something you like to eat, and then return, you can count on it being the same good food. The staff is a little funky when it comes to busy hours - you might wait a while if the restaurant is busy, but, they are often short staffed as most restaurants are after the 2020 pandemic. When it comes to alcohol service, I've lived in Utah all of my 40+ years and have heard every interpretation of UT DABC laws bars and restaurants and just beer bars have from the DABC ( or whatever the current acronym is for the UT state liquor "board" ). You'll find that from restaurant to restaurant and bar to bar and liquor sesrving bar in SLC, each one has a different interpretation of alchohol laws, and I'm sure I'll get a response that they adhere to Utah liquor laws, but, each restaurant's bar's or liquor-serving bar's behavior is more strict or more loose. They have the right to run businesses as they see fit. It just depends on where you are. My point is, that you may find stricter service here on one night compared to another, but it's always pretty strict here. If you want EXCELLEN tex-mex, Utah mexican food, that's consistent, and not incredibly expensive, 100% go here. The servers get a bit overwhelmed sometimes, even though the restaruant isn't packed (my family and I can make an honest judgmetn here having worked as servers for many many years), but, they are always kind, they always get the food out, and it's always good, good food. 100%. I know this is a bit detailed, but I'm coming from a point of view for someone who's coming to SLC from from out of town. It's also a critique of how wacko Utah's liquor laws are (eg, it varys from bar to bar, restaurant to restaurant, etc.). 100% go here to eat. Give it a shot. It's close to the city if you're on the way from the ski resorts or Park City from the freeway. And if you're local and havent tried Tres Hombres, you're totally missing out. 100% go here. Eat and drink safely and support an SLC business that has been here for a couple decades.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp to the east of the building. The big set of stairs at the front door are a chore for older folks, but the staff will gladly refer you to the south-eastern entrance that has an easy ramp and double doors to accomdate a large wheelchair, jazzy, or just someone who has a cane or walker and can't handle the big set of stairs at the main entrance facing south. No problem getting in or out. However, don't expect to be able to park right next to that ramp. It's really tight for a car/truck. You can pull in, let the disabled/handicapped/whateveryouwanttocallyourself person out near the ramp and come on in, and then park, but the parking near the ramp is waaay cramped. It's not their fault, it's just the parking lot/building construction. If you ask them, they'll help you park. They've been really helpful to us on several occasions. 5 stars to the staff on this. Good people.

Let’s start with the good: it’s reminiscent of a classic Mexican style restaurant, cool atmosphere, good menu, etc. ok now the not so goods: the price vs quality. Big meal, was ok food but man, almost $100 for date night (1 drink plus meal). The service was pretty bad as well, I imagine our server was having a bad night … we’ll give her a pass. All and all, good atmosphere but not quite the quality for the extremely high prices they are asking.
