I’m hesitant to write this great review because I don’t want anyone stealing our gem!
We have been coming to the Gonzo Inn for years, before the new ownership and after.
It’s just amazing and the staff and team are so accommodating, kind, friendly and welcoming!
The breakfast coffee shop is SO good! My kids enjoyed the fresh smoothies and the coffee so very good as well. Food is great, cute outdoor space to eat, even when it’s chilly. Although we ate inside in the couches.
The rooms are amazing, clean, and large.
Being able to travel with my kids and dogs is so special.
We will be back again and again! Thank you for another great trip.

I don’t understand how Gonzo Inn has such high ratings. Our experience was disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived at 7:00 PM on a Friday night. (11/23/25) there was no one at the lobby to greet us, and our key was just left in an envelope outside, which felt unprofessional.
Upon entering our hotel room, we were hit with a strong, unpleasant odor that was reminiscent of an old hotel room. It was quite overwhelming and made our stay uncomfortable. The only amenities provided were two generic King Soopers water bottles, which we assumed were complimentary given the off-brand nature and the lack of an open lobby to grab a drink.
The worst part came when we checked out and went for breakfast down the road. We received a rude phone call from the staff accusing us of stealing the water bottles. They insisted we needed to come back and pay for them, despite having paid with a credit card. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and it left a terrible impression of the place.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Gonzo Inn based on our experience. The customer service was lacking, and the room conditions were not up to par. A one-star experience all around.

Warm people, great location, but the rooms need love
The Gonzo Inn has a lot going for it. The people who work here are genuinely kind, welcoming, and eager to help. Every interaction felt warm and sincere, which made us feel at home right away. The location can’t be beat—an easy walk to restaurants and shops, yet tucked just far enough away to feel peaceful. The retro, slightly funky theme adds a lot of charm and gives the place real personality.
We stayed in a first-floor suite, which was spacious and conveniently located, with a lovely covered patio that we used often to enjoy the beautiful weather. Unfortunately, the room itself seemed tired and in need of some maintenance. There was a persistent musty odor, likely from old carpet and a slow bathroom drain that released an unpleasant smell every time we used the sink. The vent fan in the bathroom didn’t seem to work properly, so moisture lingered after showers, and it left our clothes smelling of mildew—I actually had to wash everything twice when we got home.
The lighting could also use some attention; the fluorescent LEDs were harsh and unflattering, while turning them off made the room too dark even during the day. A mix of softer incandescent or warm LED bulbs would make a world of difference.
Overall, the Gonzo Inn still has heart and potential. The staff and location make it a place worth rooting for, but it could really shine again with some updates to the rooms and better attention to maintenance details. I truly hope the owners invest in bringing this gem back to its former glory—because the people and the spirit of the place deserve it.

Stopped here for breakfast. $40 for 2 breakfast sandwiches that didn’t satisfy and 2 coffees.
This was at the Cafe & Lounge Italiano in the Gonzo Inn. It is attached to the hotel. There is no separate entrance and in the same building/property. I saw the response and my message to the owner is this is legit and was my experience.
Just a tip to the staff there, just because someone is “Americanized” (whatever that was supposed to mean) never assume he or she can’t speak another language, and it isn’t kind to speak badly of anyone in English or Italian irregardless. It is especially rude speaking in another language thinking that your paying customers don’t know what you are saying.

We loved our stay at The Gonzo Inn!The location couldn’t be better and the staff was incredibly friendly!The room was clean and comfortable!Our family especially appreciated how walkable everything was — restaurants, shops, and coffee spot are all nearby. The pool and hot tub area were a hit after long days exploring the area.You can tell this place is well-run and cares about its guests.We’ll definitely be coming back on our next family adventure!

Absolutely loved my stay at The Gonzo Inn!
Everything about this place was perfect — the rooms were spotless, cozy, and full of personality. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. The food was a big highlight — every meal was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The location is also ideal — just minutes from the main attractions in Moab but still peaceful and relaxing.
I’ve stayed in many hotels around Utah, but Gonzo Inn truly stands out with its warm atmosphere and attention to detail. Definitely one of the best places to stay in Moab — can’t wait to come back!
