I’ve been a member since 2013, and I’ve had some good and some bad experiences but never before wrote a review. But now I am because I had a very disappointing experience. I faced a personal emergency that required money I didn’t have on hand at that moment and went online and submitted a personal loan application for 1,000.00 and I got a message on the app where I submitted it saying congrats you’re approved someone will be in touch soon. I went here to the branch the next day and the lead teller helped me in moving it forward, she gave me a copy of my credit report which is decent, and she said she sent it up to underwriting after I provided the last two copies of my paystubs and about an hour later she called me saying that my app was denied because my credit card balances are too high. I understand that a bank or credit union can approve or deny at their discretion but I have never missed a payment to my loans with anyone, sometimes I miss it by more than 10 days due to my financial situation and I pay the late fee, but I’ve never gone beyond 30 days so that it hits credit. It’s disappointing because they said it was approved but then went back on their word. I had to burrow money from a friend, which I wanted to avoid, but whatever, at least I don’t pay interest, so I guess I just shouldn’t trust what the credit union says. As soon as I pay off my credit card with them I’m closing the account.
Also, when I went back to opt into overdraft, to see if that was an alternate option which I didn’t end up using, teller must’ve been having a bad day because they gave me some sass ?

I was there for help several times. A young lady I believed named Samantha was very positive, friendly and knowledgeable. She helped me and my grandson with genuine concern. She is a great asset to American First Credit Union! Thank you Samantha! ?

Do not go here unless you want to face discrimination. My son needed to DEPOSIT a check from his employer IN HIS AMERICA FIRST ACCOUNT!!!!! The lady at the counter was so rude and disgusting to him. She questioned every little detail about the check, where he got it, WHY he got it and then did the same thing to his drivers license.He had to beg FOR HIS OWN MONEY AT HIS OWN BANK!I am so completely disgusted with America First for treating him like a criminal and suggesting several times that the check was a forgery. HE WASN'T ASKING FOR ANY CASH WHATSOEVER!!! His cash, I might add, that he earned!

Micah!! You were an Angel today and was so patient and kind. I apparently needed someone today to be there to hear me and listen and truly care about my situation and to help me understand what was needed from our call.You stepped up to the plate and were so amazing! Answering all my questions even if you needed to repeat something.You for sure will be getting a Christmas card today! And thank you to whoever it was that gave the okay to keep what you quoted me on our call.This location has been amazing more then once and today it came full circle!America First CU please understand that Micah did an amazing job and deserves recognition and all the gold stars in the world!
