The apartments are very comfortable.

If you want to pay cheap for rent, this is the place. The downside is that everything breaks or stops working. It's summer now and I don't have AC in my apartment. My washing machine broke and they only replaced it when I was rude to everyone. The property manager is supposedly the one who solves the problem, but she only solves it when she wants to or is willing to work.

This apartment complex is an absolute joke.
I applied in April 2025, and from the very beginning, the process was full of red flags. I never received a clear answer about whether I was approved. Every time I followed up, I got vague and confusing responses. Their so-called “compliance team” kept sending me new paperwork—even when I had already submitted everything they previously asked for. It felt like they were just buying time or had no clue what they were doing.
I spent nearly four months trying to work with them. Every time I called, I got a different person, and every person gave me a different answer. Half the time, no one even answered the phone. There was absolutely no consistency or communication. I was doing everything I could just to get approved—and they were doing everything they could to make it impossible.
On top of that, I made multiple 7-hour round trips to bring them documents or do things they insisted had to be done in person. I went out of my way to meet every demand, hoping it would speed things up. But nothing ever changed. I still never got a clear answer. I never got approved. And I never moved in.
By July 2025, I had enough. I told them I didn’t have two full years of rental history—something they had known from the beginning—and only then did they finally say they would refund my deposit. It took them two weeks just to return the money after months of dragging me along.
Because of how they handled everything, I was on the verge of being homeless. They caused me unnecessary stress, financial strain, and wasted time I’ll never get back. Thankfully, I found another apartment one that actually treated me with respect and didn’t make me jump through endless hoops just to move in and have my keys SAME day as I applied!
Bottom line: This place is a disaster. Unorganized. Unprofessional. Completely unreliable.
If you value your time, your sanity, and your money stay far away from this complex. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Ellie, and all the people here are extremely nice, very patient, and helped me every step of the way. Starting with the application, and throughout my approval. I have been very comfortable living here at Birkhill apartments. I have met several other tenants. Everyone has been very welcoming, and willing to lend a hand. Thank you, Blanche

Terrible management, maintenance problems and neighbors who make noise until dawn and the office doesn't solve it, to fix a problem in the apartment there's no point in complaining or sending an email, they don't solve it!

My cousin lives there, and he has had an amazing experience. He loves living there, especially because the staff in the office are so kind, helpful, and caring. It is very rare in our day and age to find such good people who truly care❤️

Amazing place to live.

Overall, this complex has been a good place to live. Sometimes the maintenance requests take a little bit longer than I would like, but they do eventually get it done. The quality of the apartments are excellent. The secured parking is a plus. As a pet owner, I enjoy access to the large dog run without having to go out into the weather. I live in the 55 and older building and things are pretty calm and quiet. I would definitely recommend this place.

UPDATE BELOW
Horrible place to live maintenance is non existent even though there are 3 maintenance men for 307 apartments. At least 3 of those apartments are for employees that still get a salary, not luxury when you have a dangerous apartment not up to code, and has 5 holes in the ceiling, pool is not for all residents, be ware, they don't tell you the truth, not really wheel chair accessible, non existent amenities. Good luck, I don't have enough room to write in all the things that are bad with this place. Not too long ago we had a guy walking the halls with a handgun. I'm sorry a loaded weapon very secure and safe place to live. That is a joke
UPDATE, REGARDING THE ANSWER FROM SUPPOSED OWNER
that is not the phone number for the owner, it's the number for the manager that already knows of all the problems and issues, once again they lie, their lie is in their response, management knows of all my problems since 2 weeks after moving in, once again what a joke this place is
IN FACT IF YOU ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT THE ISSUES HAVE THE OWNER CONTACT ME, OR THE PRESIDENT/OWNER OF EMG CONTACT ME, GIVE ME A REFUND FOR ALL MY STRESS YOU HAVE CAUSED ME.
In fact I have emails with responses from management to prove she knows of the issues regarding my apartment, and yet it takes me writing a review to get yet another lie from her office. They don't care, or she is not the right person for the job.

It took them a long time to address my maintenance problems

Save yourself the stress and rent somewhere else.
None of the maintenance work orders have been done in over a year. And now they want to raise the rent for a one-bedroom apartment from $1,700 to $2,100. This is 23.5% increase in just one year!
And to top it off, they increase the internet price 25% with the new contract too. $110 for 20 Mbps is ridiculous. And let me tell you, Wi-Fi here isn't great.
The building door doesn't lock now, so anyone can get into the garage or any floor - safety issue.
And to the management: I don't need a generic response with a phone number to call. You already have all the work orders from your tenants— start working on them.

Was shown an open apartment unit, and told to come back with a Cashier's check to reserve the room. Immediately drove to my bank to get a cashier's check and came back, but was then told I needed to have my application done at the exact same time. I left to go to the library to print out my tax documents and fill out the application. In the two hours I was gone, someone else took the open unit, and I was told to kick rocks. Expect absolutely no empathy or human decency from any of the women working in the leasing office. Don't waste your time filling out an application.
