Sue was the one that helped us. If I could give her 6 stars I would. We had a pleasant interaction with her and the whole process only took us about 10 minutes and we were on our way. She was very friendly and explained everything. Thanks Sue!

Caution: Avoid this establishment due to concerns of racial profiling. If it were possible to award less than one star, I would gladly do so. My husband attempted to rent a car at this location after making a reservation through Travelocity. However, upon presenting his identification to the clerk, he was informed that renting with an out-of-state license was not permitted, and proof of residency was required. This struck us as odd, given that many people rent cars with out-of-state licenses. In our case, we do reside in Utah due to work commitments.I promptly forwarded the first available utility bill in my name, which includes my hyphenated marital last name. To our surprise, Sue Lin and Melissa, with Sue Lin being the primary instigator, deemed this as unacceptable proof. Perplexed, my husband inquired if he could provide our marriage license as an alternative. Before he could do so, I located our auto insurance bill, which displayed both of our names and our Utah address.I submitted this document as well. Yet again, we were denied the opportunity to rent a car. Melissa even went as far as questioning my husband about his credit card.I inquired about the additional requirements for renting a car, and I was told that I needed to provide my auto insurance declaration as proof of full coverage. Despite having furnished two bills (one of which was an auto insurance bill), valid driver's licenses, and a recognized insurance card that clearly outlined our coverage details, we were still refused service.Subsequently, I contacted Budget to report this incident, and they assured me that we were treated unfairly, and this treatment did not align with their policies. They explained that this location is a franchise (a word of caution when dealing with franchises) and that the counter clerks may have been acting in accordance with the owner's instructions. Budget also mentioned that private locations often have a limited fleet and are cautious about renting due to concerns about cars not being returned. It is regrettable to say that it appears our race played a factor in this situation. I strongly advise against patronizing this Murray location. Their staff is in dire need of immediate inclusivity training.

I Reserved a cargo van from them a week ago. When I arrived they said it was returned with a flat tire the day before so they didn't have it. If they knew this the day before, why wasn't this communicated to me? I called their customer service number and they asked me if this location offered me another vehicle or tried to find availability at another location. They did not, so this tells me that they were not following protocol and offering good customer service. Fortunately, their customer service line was able to find me another vehicle at another location. The downtown location was much better.

This was a Uhual trailer company, not Budget, unless one or the other owns it. 5300 So. State Murray, UT. The medium-sized truck was clean and new.

Forced to buy their LDW.I initially made a reservation through Expedia and purchased rental car protection for $12/day. However, when I went to pick up my rental the person checking me in stated they do not accept third party insurance or protection and only accept my own personal insurance if I have full coverage. Since I didn’t have full coverage they made me purchase their Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) for $35/day. I was told I couldn’t go without it.I tried to get a refund from Expedia. They called Budget and was informed that they never force customers to purchase their liability. So was denied a refund.Beware of them and I know most car rental agencies don’t force you to purchase LDW.Giving two stars because return was quick and didn’t experience any of the hassles others have reported in the other reviews.

Worst customer service. I have rented from budget many times. Never had a more complicated experience. The car we rented was dirty chips everywhere, I had to go clean it prior to our trip.

Won't answer the phone-- they just have it auto-forwarded to the national hotline who can't do anything or answer any questions. Other Budget locations at least let you know you're being forwarded to phone tree hell.

I would DEFINITELY discourage ANYONE from renting from them. THEY ARE NOT GOVERNED BY COPORATE BUDGET, as they are part of an individually franchised group. Thus, customer support that one would expect from a reputable company like Budget isn't available. Recently, I rented a truck for the weekend. When I returned the vehicle, the young woman at the counter checked everything on the vehicle and informed me that the truck smelled like cigarette smoke. This was a shock, I'm not a smoker and am actually highly asthmatic and acutely aware of the smell of smoke. I explained this to her but she really didn't seem to care, she just said that she called her manager and he told her to charge me $450 for smoking in the truck. I asked her if her manager was present on site to verify the issue, and she confirmed that he wasn't. I asked her to unlock the vehicle so that I could photograph the interior to demonstrate the cleanliness of it. After doing so I again asked if anyone else was present to confirm the issue and she stated that she was the only one at the location. I called corporate Budget, they agreed to send a request to the location manager to remove the fee but indicated that they had no control over what the location would do given that the location is a franchise. This is a negative reflection on both Budget and the location in particular, as Budget allows businesses to operate under their name despite unethical practices. Falsely accusing people of smoking in vehicles is a great way to make money without any effort . Luckily I have dated photos of the vehicle along confirmation that this fee was charged based on the opinion of one young woman. I will likely contest the charge with my credit card company, in which case the fee will be refunded because the location has no proof of the issue. I do feel obligated to make the public aware of how this company does business, as this practice is crooked as Hell. In addition, the location also charged me an extra $75 that no one has been able to account for (this was in addition to the $450 for smoke smell).Interesting to note: nowhere on the rental agreement is there language about a $450 fee for smoke smell. Obviously the absence of this language works in my favor. PLEASE do not give these people your business. It's my understanding that all Utah Budget locations (with the exception of maybe the airport) are part of this franchise group, and thus I would strongly recommend renting with another company... like ANY other company.

Not even one star worthy! So upset. I made a reservation on a moving truck for May 31 in Murray UT. When I got to the place, the lady who worked there checked me in, went out side, checked the truck's mileage, damage, and everything. came back in but I guess system didn't let her check out the truck. She had to call the manager and found out that the truck wasn't for rental. O my gosh! I had everything packed at home ready to load to the truck and move. I even had movers and my family members at home waiting for the truck to arrive. That lady didn't even show a sign of sorry, she keep saying that it wasn't their fault and that it's website's fault for letting me make the reservation in that location. What the heck. I was so upset but all she can say is call the customer service. Such a bad bad customer service. I am never renting anything from this place!!! They clearly had a truck there, if it wasn't for rental, she should have known that from the beginning so that I didn't have to waste my time there waiting for her to check the trunk's condition! Terrible workers, system!! Budget service is the worst I ever had. Inventory manager suppose to call me but he never called me back. I had to call Uhaul and they had a smaller truck available and renting from them was piece of cake. Never going back to Budget!!!@

Will never rent from Budget. I tried to rent with my American Express Platinum card, that has car rental insurance. Budget refuses to rent cars unless you purchase their insurance. They wanted almost $50 a day for this. I refuse to pay that when I pay $500 a year for my credit card to have the insurance. I can’t believe AMEX hasn’t dropped Budget from a rental option. Horrible experience.

Made a reservation online for 4:30pm. Was delayed till 5:45. Was flatly turned away and told there wasn’t any cars in the class I reserved. Not one ounce of effort made by staff to find an alternate solution. I would have paid more to get a car… they blew it.

I reserved a car 3 weeks prior and when we arrived they didn't have a car for us. We were heading out of town that day and my husband was heading into work and dropped me off on the way. They had no solution for me, and didn't offer to find another vehicle at another local location. I asked why they didn't call or email me or notify me in some way they they wouldn't have a vehicle for me and the gal behind the counter just said "Sorry!". Wow. It messed up our vacation plans, made my husband late to 2 meetings, etc. Incredibly frustrating.
