They provide abysmal communication when it comes to RV pick-up and drop-off times. There's this one young guy who seems to take pleasure in making you wait for 20 to 30 minutes at a time deliberately. We made multiple advance calls to confirm everything, but he conveniently ignored our calls, later claiming, "I got your voicemail but didn't answer." We wasted a whopping 1 hour and 30 minutes waiting for pick-up and another hour during drop-off, all while having a flight to catch on our way back.During pick-up, he only bothered to show us the RV at the last minute, forcing us to rush and preventing us from taking a thorough video of the RV. This main staff member is not just irresponsible but intentionally keeps people waiting by overlapping multiple pick-up and drop-off schedules. If you decide to use their service, be prepared to hold them accountable. They've also claimed there's a scratch on the RV that wasn't there before. Considering their treatment of customers, I'm skeptical about their honesty. The RV remained mostly parked during our rental period.Shockingly, they charged me a whopping $810 for the alleged scratch. I plan to contact their customer service and my credit card company to dispute this charge. My advice to anyone dealing with them: gather as much evidence as possible, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RECORDING EVERY INTERACTION FROM THE MOMENT YOU STEP INTO THAT OFFICE. Aside from one staff member (I'm not even sure if he's from El Monte RV or their neighbor office, since they share an office with another enterprise), the rest are incredibly unprofessional. Despite us calling and confirming our RV pick-up time earlier, they simply disregarded the phone conversation and stalled us.

Camper was not serviced at SLC. It was greasy and filthy inside. Engine needed repair. Camper had severe internal damage. Screws were falling out. It was much bigger then reserved. After one day of driving we returned the camper because it was sailing over the road.. Not willing to drive with it. There was not one attempt to help us in any way. We are now forced to return to Europe without any holiday feelings.

We reserved our RV months ago in Salt Lake City. Communication was non existent at the local branch. I had called multiple times but no one ever called me back.We had reserved the kitchen and convenience kits because we were traveling 8 hours away and thought that would make our trip easier. When we got to Salt Lake City and checked in, they informed us that they didn’t have any more kits available. That meant nothing for the kitchen or linens/ bedding/ towels were being supplied. Now what? They expected us to go to the store and purchase these items. If they new they were out, we should have been contacted so we could have planned for it.

Awful service. Five Parties were checking in. One El Monte person was managing everything. At least he tried. Waiting for hours although we had an appointment. Cars were not cleaned (all parties), no equipment although booked. Were told to buy it ourselves. All parties had bookings and were able to take off only late in the afternoon. Worst service ever!

El Monte RV SLC has been our go-to for 2 summers in a row! The vehicles are excellent and the rates are reasonable. They've also been patient and understanding with unexpected changes in plans--grace that my family greatly appreciated!Special shoutout to CONNOR at the SLC location! Due to unforeseen emergencies, we had to extend our reservation several times. By the time we returned the RV, it was 30 minutes to closing time. Connor stayed well past closing time to address the bureaucratic tangle of our extended reservation. He patiently assessed every detail of our paperwork, explaining everything, and even catching an expensive miscalculation in our charges. He took extra time to resolve this oversight with cool-headedness and friendliness. Thanks for being a consummate professional, Connor!Would definitely recommend El Monte RV SLC!

Had a great experience with Connor and the El Monte team - they took good care of our company and recommend them for future rentals.

My experience with the local person at the Salt Lake City location, Mimi, could not have been better. She explained everything thoroughly and worked with me every step of the way. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful 11 day trip where we drove nearly 2200 miles and visited 5 national parks. The only complaint we had was the side, slide window was very loud. We tried everything we could to latch it but it would not close all the way. We saw where someone had tried to stuff toilet paper in the gap to presumably muffle the noise. We weren’t going to let that ruin our trip so we just dealt with it. Well about halfway through our trip we were driving down the highway and the window just exploded. The slide portion of the window had broken leaving glass everywhere on the inside of the vehicle. I immediately called the roadside assistance number provided and they proceeded to tell me that it was my responsibility and that I needed to take it somewhere to be fixed or deal with it until we returned it. I pulled into a grocery store lot and luckily they were able to provide me with some boxes and duct tape and we made it work. We were actually happy the glass broke because the noise it was making was driving us crazy. No window, no noise. Anyway we drove and slept in the unit for 5 more days with the patch job and had a wonderful time. When we returned the unit they wanted $700 for the window. This was obviously a manufacturer defect and they said I was responsible. After Mimi argued for me with corporate they reduced it to $400. We were late for our flight so I had to accept that. Overall we spent over $3000 on this unit and they gouged us for more. Ridiculous. I will never deal with this company again. They only care about the bottom line and have zero care for the customer experience. Way to ruin the perfect trip El Monte, hope you’re happy.

This place was AWFUL. TERRIBLE customer service. The brunette lady who runs the front desk and checks people in was VERY rude and unprofessional. When I asked how long it would take to get a camper (after she made us wait 1hr) she proceeded to tell me she was “doing me a favor”... WHO TALKS TO A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT???The RV was NOT cleaned, we even found a toddlers sock in one of the beds, we were not traveling with toddlers. You would think during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC this company would provide adequate cleaning to all mobile homes. If I could rate this place a negative star I would. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER using this company.Never again will I choose El Monte.

There was a dead bird under the mattress!!!!If you return unclean they will charge 200$ for cleaning, but they rented with dead bird under the mattress. We did not notice first because the high A/C , just later we were wondering what is that stench in the back of the rv.

Lots to unpack here. TL, DR: the left hand doesn't talk to the right hand at this location. Made the reservations over the phone. NOBODY mentioned the $1000 due at the time of rental, which can ONLY be paid by Credit Card. They took $250 over the phone.. which I thought was a deposit.. but didn't explain this this would be put towards my rental fees, and didn't mention the $1000 credit card hold at time of rental. This location is a subsidiary of some other transportation company. "El Monte RV rentals" is one of the services they provide. It's difficult to find the location, also. The RV itself was in good shape, and the staff showed us how to use it.We told them we were going out to the Bonneville Salt Flats. They smiled and said "have a good time!" and made no mention of cleaning fees. (more about this later) We were instructed to return the RV full of gas, but the RV was slightly above Half when we received it. So the first thing I did was put $35 worth of gas into it. We went out the Salt Flats for 2 days, had a good time. Almost ran out of fresh water, not sure if the tank was full when we got the RV. The salt was damp, and stuck to the tires, the underside of the vehicle, and our shoes. When we departed, I went to the Flying J Travel center in Tooele (sp?) and dumped both the grey and black tanks (in that order) for a charge of $10. Took about 30 minutes. Supposed to have the RV returned by 11am.. we got it back at noon.We had to wait over an hour to turn the RV back in at the El Monte office. We unloaded our stuff and swept out the inside with a small brush (we brought this.. there's no brooms or brushes included with the RV)During this time, I crawled under the vehicle and knocked off most of the encrusted salt with the hard part of the brush. We finally got checked out about 1pm. They charged us a $75 cleaning fee for the salt, but gave us $35 credit for the extra gas I put in the vehicle, as I returned it full of gas (per original instructions) I kept all my gas receipts to show them. So I paid $51 at checkout. Fair enough. Spent about $600 for 2.5 days, had a good time, was comfortable in the wilderness. But with that $1000 credit card hold and the unpredictable service, I'm not sure I'll rent an RV again. If I do, I'll explore other rental options.
