My husband and I are still in shock of how our experience went. It took almost a year and a half to get our carpet installed, mostly right. To shorten the story, I'll share only a few highlights.
1. Despite confirming the day prior, no one showed up on install day, and we ended up moving back all the furniture we had moved out of the rooms.
2. On the second try for installation day, the installer showed up 3 hours late. When he arrived, he said he had accidentally gone to a neighbor's house. When I asked which neighbor, he tripped over his words multiple times before saying, "Never mind. There's no neighbor."
3. They only did part of the installation, and it took them HOURS to do just stairs. Do you know the binding used in the manufacturing process on the edges of the carpet roll? He left that on and visible on 5 of the steps. He said, "Some people like it that way." I challenged him on this multiple times, and he simply insisted it's OK for the 5 steps to look different than the other 10.
4. When scheduling a day to finish the work, I was told it would be 3-4 hours to finish the project, so we agreed to let them come over Christmas Eve morning. They were here for 12 HOURS! On a major holiday! They left just after 8pm!
5. The seams looked TERRIBLE. Installer told me it was because of the type of carpet I bought. When I told him we purposely got pricier carpet and told him the price, his eyes bulged out, and then he put on a straight face and told me that the seams were a problem "especially" with expensive carpet.
6. The carpet started popping up within days. In other areas, it wasn't tucked in at all.
7. When I called Halifax to come fix the issues, they sent the same installer! Of course, he said everything looked just fine and changed nothing.
8. I was gaslit multiple times over the phone by the rep over my case and was told that I was unreasonably asking things to be "perfect". Fortunately, I had not yet paid the balance of the bill, so they were forced to answer my calls.
9. I had 3 carpet companies come and look at our seams, and they were all horrified at how bad they were. Halifax eventually sent over a master carpet layer from a different company, expecting me to be corrected of my error. As soon as the expert walked into the room, he said, "That seam can be seen from a helicopter in the sky!" ? ?
10. Halifax agreed to fix the issues. I thought that would be the end of it. But it is a year and a half later, and while they fixed a lot of the issues, we still don't have all the repairs done. Their installer had damaged the top of a hallway arch and an intake vent.
These are only SOME highlights of our experience. I am jealous of the other reviews who got their work done quickly and correctly somehow.
* In their defense, Halifax eventually fired that original installer, who was a source of many of the problems. However, even after he was fired (and apparently several other employees), there still doesn't seem to be good communication between staff members about our case. We have talked with owners, managers, sales reps, and installers at Halifax, and they were often not on the same page about what needed to be done and when. It shouldn't take 6-7 visits to complete an order for two rooms, a closet, and a set of stairs, and it certainly shouldn't take more than a year.
Originally, I thought I was going to also have Halifax do our 2,500 sqft basement, but we ended up going with a different company who was able to get the entire thing done correctly in ONE DAY.

The carpet is fine. The installation was awful. We had to call the installers back several times to fix things, primarily visible seams and places where you could feel with your bare feet that there was no pad. Even after coming back, I can still see the seams and I just found _another_ spot with no pad. Ymmv.

Halifax is extremely easy to work with. They did all of carpet, hardwood floor and tile work for our basement. They are upfront, honest and on-time. Ben and his team were great to work with - he provided honest opinions/recommendations every step of the way. Installers are highly experienced and also quick to come back and fix their mistakes and imperfections. I would highly recommend Halifax to my close family and friends.

Wow, what a great place to find the perfect flooring! We had an awesome experience working with Annette and her team. I looked all through their samples and couldn’t find anything that wasn’t high quality.

TL;DR: Don't use Halifax Flooring!!!
Our initial contact with a sales rep was great and the reason we decided to use Halifax. Their pricing was on par with the other quotes we got. Then they fired her and put a clueless guy over our account.
When we came in to actually purchase the floor, the first annoyance was that it took us over an hour to pay for the floor because they were constantly pausing to help other customers--we were willing to chalk that up to just a busy day.
Next was a random phone call my wife got a week before our install of someone wanting to come over and move our fridge.. that's on wheels... a week early! We declined to do that.
Then we were scheduled to install on a Tuesday. I had to call Monday night to find out that had been pushed back to Wednesday, but no one bothered to tell me. I also learned Eddy was now over our account because Becky had been fired. Next there was Wednesday, I was told someone would be here between 8-10. It was snowing so I didn't call until 1030. There was obvious confusion, and finally I was given a very obvious lie that there was a car accident, but promised something would be figured out and I would be called back in 30 minutes. Two hours later I called back since no one was going to call me, obviously. I expressed my frustration at the lack of communication and was promised things would be better and someone would be there between 8-9 on Thursday. Guess what, Thursday at 930 I'm once again calling them because no one called me. I spoke to Eddy who told me about a dozen times he's new and doesn't know what's going on. Real confidence builder there.
Finally around noon a subcontractor showed up, and was confused because they told him he was doing a shower, not a kitchen. Fortunately, he's a rock star and pretty much the only good thing we dealt with. The measurements were totally off, so more tile had to be ordered. Over Christmas. Finally the week after Christmas, Eddy called to introduce himself and was shocked to learn we had already spoken, but made sure to let me know he's new and doesn't know what's going on again.
Here's the cherry on top. We spoke to a neighbor who asked about our floor and warned them never to use your company. They laughed and said they already knew that because they had and you guys installed the wrong flooring in their house! This isn't even a one off experience.
This place is an absolute joke. Zero commination and they will try to pass the blame to anyone they can instead of taking accountability. The job I was told would take 3-4 days took nearly 3 weeks because of being short materials. They started 3 days late! We had to cook Christmas dinner for 10 people on an unfinished kitchen floor. Stay far far away!
