Having been involved as a hobbyist in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a total of about five years now, albeit with intermittent breaks due to relocations, I've had the privilege of training at various gyms. However, none have come close to the exceptional experience offered by Coach Dwight at Patriot Jiu-Jitsu.
Coach Dwight isn't just an instructor; he's an enthusiastic student and master of the art, seamlessly blending expertise with an infectious passion for the art. What sets him apart is his unique ability to make the intricacies of BJJ accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of age or skill level. Under his guidance, I've honed my techniques and discovered a newfound passion for BJJ.
At Patriot Jiu-Jitsu, Coach Dwight has fostered a community that embodies his ethos of camaraderie, positivity, and dedication. Training alongside fellow students who share his enthusiasm has been both inspiring and motivating, creating an environment that truly enhances the learning experience.
Since joining Patriot Jiu-Jitsu under Coach Dwight's instruction a year ago, my journey in BJJ has undergone a remarkable transformation. Not only have my skills and knowledge flourished, but I've also witnessed significant improvements in my physical conditioning and overall well-being. Without a doubt, Coach Dwight and Patriot Jiu-Jitsu have been instrumental in my growth as a martial artist and as an individual, fostering self-confidence and resilience that extends beyond the mat.
Furthermore, Coach Dwight's emphasis on safety, injury prevention, and mobility training has instilled confidence and longevity in everyone at Patriot Jiu-Jitsu, ensuring that each session is productive and conducive to well-being. Without a doubt, Coach Dwight and Patriot Jiu-Jitsu have been pivotal in shaping not just my ability as a martial artist but also my growth as an individual.

Coach Dwight or should I say Ninja Dwight is an amazing teacher and leader. I have learned SO MUCH from him and honestly this is the best jiu jitsu academy I've ever joined. Although I was only 1 of 2 women that regularly trained there (at least in the evening classes) I never felt looked down upon because I am a woman. All the men here are encouraging and made me feel welcomed and comfortable. Coach Dwight truly cares about his students and goes above and beyond to help them grow. Coach Dwight even trained some friends and I for free for multiple women's self defense classes. I asked him if we could pay him and he said no. This says a lot about his character. COME TRAIN HERE!!! I especially encourage women to come train here, learning jiu jitsu for self defense and for fun has made me physically and mentally stronger. It has even helped my confidence. May God bless Coach Dwight, his family, and everyone who trains here. ✨️✝️

I have been participating in Dwight’s Women’s Self Defense class, Tuesdays at 1700. I am a first responder and a single mom and Dwight is helping me gain the skills and confidence needed to defend myself, my partner at work, and my children at home.
He has also helped me work on mobility in specific trouble areas, like my ankles, to help me prevent future injuries and improve my physical fitness.
Come join us on Tuesdays! I need more partners ?

Went with my husband to Patriot Jiu-Jitsu on our vacation and learned a lot. Coach Dwight was extremely informative and a great teacher. When in Utah again we’ll for sure stop by and train again.

I dropped into Patriot Jiu Jitsu out of the blue for a No-Gi class on a Friday. The facility is clean and the Jiu Jitsu is fantastic. They were extremely inviting to my Wife and I and made it feel like our home gym. If you are planning on going up to Brianhead and are intersted in dropping in for a class I couldn't recommend it more!

At 70 years of age, I was a bit hesitant to start training in Jiu Jitsu, but it was something I wanted to learn and felt it would be good for me. I evaluated the three closest BJJ training facilities and after visiting the first two and watching their classes, I was discouraged. I was afraid I might get injured and concerned about my physical limitations. I contacted Dwight Hargett at Patriot Jiu Jitsu and he invited me to come in for an initial private lesson at no charge to see what the activity was all about. He put me completely at ease, and I started training with him and his assistants in January of 2023. Dwight and all of the other students are extremely respectful of each other and there is a great camaraderie where we train as a team and encourage each other. There are no big egos there and although I am not as young as the other men and women who train there, I don't feel left out. I've also had the chance to watch Dwight train the kids who participate in BJJ there each week. They are obviously having a great time and are extremely enthusiastic about the sport. I highly recommend Patriot Jiu Jitsu if you are looking for a great place to train.

I started going here for the women's self defense class and now my son, husband and I are taking classes. This is good for all ages! My son is learning discipline, how to listen to instructions, making friends and is getting stronger! He LOVES it. He comes home and teaches his little sister what he's learned. My husband loves what he is learning and we practice with each other. Dwight is a great teacher with real life experience and skill. Definitely come in and see for yourself!

When I got out of the Marine Corps I had done a little Jiu-Jitsu so I wanted to find a quality martial arts academy to learn from and I was so glad I found Patriot Jiu-Jitsu! Not only is the coach a Marine veteran like myself. He also is a serious Jiu-Jitsu competitor! I could not believe my luck in finding this place in such a small town in Southern Utah.On a more serious note I had two rods put in my back years before finding Patriot and I wasn’t sure I would be able to train. Coach Dwight gave me exercises that helped me eliminate pain and continue to train regularly. He also modified exercises for me when necessary so that I could get the training I needed. Not to mention that as a veteran, having an outlet like Jiu-Jitsu really helped me to relax and reduced my stress significantly. I love Patriot Jiu-Jitsu!???

Coach Dwight and his family are an amazing asset to our community. He is putting in the hard work and hours to teach our youth the value and benefits that come from hard work and determination. He is teaching them to love and appreciate our freedom, and to stand up for others. While they are learning these things, they are getting countless hours of physical activity and sunshine, in a supportive and safe environment. They are learning to defend themselves, develop patience and discipline, and most importantly, to be kind, but that you do not have to be victimized.
