Salsa Chocolate is a great place to receive dance instruction and then practice what you have learned. Playing salsa, bachata, merengue and cumbia.

My husband and I went, and even though many young people go, we also really enjoyed the evening. They maintain a very healthy and fun environment. It's incredible to see how all those boys and girls dance. The people at the counter have made an effort to be friendlier. Thank you for keeping this dance floor for all of us.

If you want to go dance Salsa, Bachata, or Merengue in the Provo/Orem area, this is the only place to go within a 40 mile radius. They’re open every Thursday night until 1am or 2am. They have instructional dance for whomever wants to participate from 9pm to 10pm before opening the floor. Usually, there are no live bands, but the music is good, the vibe is right, and there are some legitimately amazing dancers that frequent this place. Door charge is about $10-$15. It is important to note that because this is a college town full of members from the LDS church, no alcohol is served. Also attendants’ ages usually range from 18 to 50 years old (the majority of people are in their 20’s- 30’s). I’m 30 and there are no shortage of 20-30 year old women who frequent this place. The ethnic majority is Latino. Last note- they play the music loudly, so you won’t be able to hold a conversation easily. This is nothing new for people who frequent salsa clubs, but a consideration for people wanting to try it out for the first time.

I went there for Thursday night salsa social with some friends that were all much more experienced with salsa than I was. So I stood in a corner by myself practicing the basics. Wasn't long before a few girls came up and offered to dance with me. It was really awesome of them and I had a great time. Super fun place for both experienced and non experienced dancers.

This is such a fun place. If you don't know how to dance or want to learn more, they have a class beforehand. It's usually cheaper if you go earlier too. They have renovated the place quite a bit so it's pretty nice. The only downside is there are no drinking fountains, so if you get thirsty you will have to buy their water. You can bring your own water though, which is what I do. There are also cubbies (not lockers) to put your stuff in.
