After 43 years of membership it is time to move on. I remember not too long ago when America First had really good reviews, but I see more and more comments about how it is no longer about the member and it is very evident in their service quality. It has been more difficult to work with this credit union on a personal basis and service is much slower and robotic. I believe that all comes down to leadership at the top. Ever since John Lund retired as CEO, the credit union has moved away from the credit union mission. A lot of money is spent on sponsorships (i.e. Las Vegas Golden Knights and Raiders, Utah Jazz, etc.) and the executives go hang out in suites and live like big corporate executives. In that type of culture I can see how the member would get lost. This is so far from the credit union purpose that they ought to be paying taxes. I have found another credit union that still operates like a real credit union where members do come first and I will be moving all my accounts. Thanks America First for mostly good years over the last 43.

I bought a truck the first week of July and used America First for the auto loan.
I live in Idaho but they said that once they received the title from the dealer that they would send it to the DMV in Idaho so I could get the truck registered.
I have called 5 times in the past three months to try and figure out where the title is and why it has taken so long. Each time someone is blaming the issue on some one else and promising it will sent to the DMV in 2-3 weeks and to check then.
My truck is sitting in my garage because I cannot drive it because the temporary registration has expired. Called again today and they promised again that they would send it and that it should be there in 2-3 weeks... Three and a half months... This is the last time I will ever be using AFCU for an auto loan.

AFCU/ Zelle have a hold on my account and refuse to help me release it.
Feels discriminatory due to my physical limitations. I have been a customer for 25+ years. According to AFCU, I do not matter. I cannot get anyone to help me. I have called and sent multiple messages.

Had a not so pleasant experience when I made them aware of fraudulent charges on my account. Money ended up being put back into my account but the process was a hassle.

i am a member out in Phoenix, Arizona and i just got off the phone with Gustavo De Oliveira Dias from the utah call center and he is AMAZING. Really personable and makes you feel comfortable and at home while also staying diligent and effective at his job. Doing good work that goes unnoticed and should be recognized!

The worst customer experience I have ever had her name is “Brenda”is the absolute call killer. With rates raising you should think about keeping customers. After my experience with” Brenda” I am truly reevaluate my account with America First. Plus the hold time is out of control. I am going to tell my friends don’t bank with “Brenda” oh I mean America First.

America First has been under a fraud attack recently. That’s not their fault. What is their fault is that they did not do proper verification and wired out all the funds in my friends account. They refuse to fix the problem caused by their mistake. Do not trust them with your money if you want it to be safe.

Kim Watters was absolutely amazing helping me get my business account up and running. Being a new business owner, some of the initial steps to register my business with the state of Utah were very confusing. Not only was Kim pleasant and understanding and supportive, she told me exactly which numbers to call, provided links, and was consistently following up when she said she would to check on my next steps. Working with her felt like working with a one-stop-shop SBA consultant, banker, and friend in one! I told her she should tell her boss she needs a raise, but I'm saying it here instead. Thank you Kim for all of your help! We'll definitely refer AFCU to everyone needing help with a new business account, and specifically refer them to you!

Tyson Torres took 13 days to respond to our email about the status of our mortgage refinance. We called and were transferred to his office; it rang for 10 minutes until we hung up. He emailed today and said he wasn't in yesterday. This isn't the customer service we've come to expect from AMFCU after being members since 2015.
