I chose to get my roofing materials from this business bc I’d be in the area and there were a lot of good reviews. My experience has been frustrating.
I went in on a Thursday before lunch as I was passing through the area thinking I could pay and take the materials home with me. It wasn’t until I’d payed that I was told that my order “should be ready Monday or Tuesday” (4-5 days later). I had that day and Friday off from work, and planned on finishing my project in those two days. Being told it wouldn’t be ready until next week was unanticipated and I left frustrated that this hadn’t been communicated earlier. I should have canceled the order before I left, but I didn’t think to do that until after I called on Monday around 4 and said they still didn’t have it in. I asked about canceling and was told it was too late.
I called the next day around the same time. I was told that the metal roof panels had arrived, but they’re still waiting on the trim. I called yesterday and today with the same answer “still waiting for the trim”.
I’ve only bought metal roofing twice in my life. The first time was at Metalmart in Lehi. There I asked about certain products and they told me if they had it in stock or would have to order some more. I left 20 minutes later with everything I needed.
Perhaps that’s not always how it goes. Maybe these are two different type of business models and people coming to Tri-State expect to wait over a week for orders to come in rather than walking out the same day with your order. I’m willing to accept that my expectations may not have been in line with how this business typically operates. If so, that’s on me.
If I had to do it all over again I’d go the hour out of my way to Metalmart. As it stands the trim MIGHT be ready tomorrow.
UPDATE: Got my order. Was gonna give them a call till I went through the receipt again and read the paragraph in the middle of the page that states (paraphrasing), “read the receipt carefully so you know that if there’s any mistakes we ARE NOT responsible, and you have no recourse other then paying us more money to get the correct roofing supplies.”
It’s like ordering food and the waiter brings you the wrong order, but won’t correct the mistake until you purchase the item AGAIN, and cross your fingers they get it right the second time or else…..you guessed it, you’ll being paying for a third, possibly correct order.
Any business that doesn’t stand behind their service isn’t worth my time. Go someplace else.

Needed a roof for our chicken coop and we wanted to DIY it. They made ordering super easy and were really quick. Will definitely use them again for other projects

Fast and friendly, I will say all the employees must have the goal to pump material out. Out of all the metal roofing companies this is the fastest they turn product around for me in a week other companies 3-12 weeks

Very nice looking clean professional roofing supply store.
I needed a custom piece of facial tin for a barn door. I took my description, and they bent it right away and charged me 1/2 what other businesses were asking.
Staff was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful, highly recommended.

Amazing customer service! Max was so great to work with. Living in Wyoming and taking trips sparingly to Utah, he was willing to get me what I needed quick and out the door with not much notice. This product speaks for itself, how could you not use American Steel, that’s energy efficient, ready to last for the long haul, that’s low maintenance, and can withstand these Wyoming elements.
