Our family was referred to the oncology department at Advanced Veterinary Care (AVC). We made an appointment with Dr Kathleen Tsimbas who was the oncologist that helped us. After the exam and blood tests we discussed a health plan. We decided to go with an oral chemo medication. She did the calculations with Murphy's weight and settled on 14-milligrams once a day. AVC only had 10-milligram capsules on hand and sent us out the door with that dosage. As soon as we got home we ordered the 14-milligram capsules from Wedgewood Mail Order Pharmacy. Dr Tsimbas wanted a recheck of Murphy's bloodwork after being on the medication for 30 days. This is where the problem arose. It took 10 days to obtain the mail order prescription which put Murphy on the 14-milligram dose for only 7 days prior to his next exam/bloodwork. I called AVC and attempted to reach the oncology department. The first call to AVC, I was told they were too busy to take my call and I left a message. I waited two days without a phone call back. The second attempt was met with the same results. The oncology department is with patients and not able to talk with you. They again took my question and said someone would call me back. No Call! The third attempt was again met with they can't take your call. I attempted to elevate the call to the manager or someone who could answer my question. The manager wasn't available, but I was able to leave a message. I made the decision to cancel the appointment and find a different oncologist. This was not a complicated question, and they completely stonewalled me from getting my question asked. The prices they are charging at this practice should include a 2-minute follow-up call to the veterinarian. I did speak to the office manager who only explained the "policy". I requested phone calls from both the practice owner and Dr Tsimbas. Would you believe it I haven't received a call from either one. Still holding out hope that one or BOTH will call me back! Kim W, Your response is, in my opinion horrible. Your owner relations gets an "F". Your response gets a "F". I am sorry the practice is so arrogant! I suggest you rethink your operating guidelines. When we the owners hand over hundreds or thousands of dollars we expect better interactions. Still waiting two phone calls. One from a director of the practice and one from Dr. Tsimbas.

Our Charlie pup of 11 years, who'd never had a sick day in his life, went from a typical great doggie day to an emergency in the space of about three hours. To make a long story much shorter, we rushed him here. A saint of a man (there for his own pet) rushed out to carry Charlie in...running alongside the three staff who came outside as well. They did all they could, but our Charlie didn't make it. The compassion shown to my son and I was incredible. I can't say enough good about the love and care that goes into helping our beloved furry family members. They cried alongside of us. This is a very hard business....taking care of our pets when we can't. It's hard on them as well ... especially during the holidays. Thank you for your kindness and compassion when we needed it the most.

I've spent over $10,000 at this place over the years for different dogs and cats but they have never been very accommodating or helpful. They have been really expensive. Wanting additional unnecessary clinic visits, waiting over a month for treatment. There just aren't a lot of specialty care options but it's time to go elsewhere, worth the drive.

If you have other options, go anywhere else. This is the most dysfunctional office I've ever seen. There are huge communication errors going on here. The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Such poor communication has to lead to poor care.

This is a good place. Dog ate chocolate and they were kind and understanding. Dog is doing well, still dumb as a rock but a good dumb dog

They're AMAZING! I just called them to ask about pet emergencies and how I can be better prepared and they took 30 minutes to chat with me to make sure I had all the details I need, in case of an emergency. I really appreciate them so much!By the way, if you're like me and like to be prepared if any pet emergencies come up, check out the American Red Cross pet first aid online course. It doesn't include every single detail but for the cost, it's the best all in one course I've found for pet owners. I really appreciate everyone, namely Nicole for being so thoughtful and detailed ?

The doctors here are so much better than other vets I’ve taken my dogs to. Every time our dogs have an emergency or it’s after hours and they need to be seen, we go here. When they found cancer in my dog, the doctor was patient with all of my questions and explained everything clearly and thoroughly. After the amputation at our main vet, our pup got an infection and a gaping hole opened up in his chest. They handled the problem expertly again, and he healed wonderfully within days. They really are fantastic.

We had our first encounter here and it was the best experience imaginable. Our beloved dog was naughty and ingested some chocolate covered almonds. From start to finish, the process was smooth and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. They were so good with our doggy and the vet, Dr. Bullet, was incredible. Witty, talented, and an experienced pro. AVC quite simply saved our pup's life. Entire staff bonded with our doggy and talked to us in the waiting room so we wouldn't worry. Recommend to anyone and will forever be grateful for our experience.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care our dog received at AVC during a life-threatening bout of bloat. Their swift action, diagnosing, and performing emergency surgery within an hour of our arrival saved our beloved pet. The AVC team's knowledge, kindness, and dedication to going above and beyond to ensure our dog's comfort were truly remarkable. This was our second visit under distressing circumstances, and each time, they brought a sense of relief with their educated and confident care. Our 200-lb dog stayed for two days, and we were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, well-equipped area provided for him. The thoughtful placement of blankets, a fan for cooling, and the opportunity to visit him in his kennel spoke volumes about their commitment to compassionate and comprehensive animal care. We are immensely thankful for the wonderful team at AVC for saving and caring for our cherished dog

I brought my beloved cat here last week for a urinary obstruction, and received excellent care along with kindness and compassion from the staff. Veterinary ER facilities sometimes get a bad rap due to the overall cost, occasional wait times, and the rapid pace that everything happens (treatment plans, estimates etc) but please know that the staff are incredibly kind and compassionate towards your pet hence the seriousness of it all. They would not be in this field otherwise! My sweetheart has been home for one week today, and I am unbelievably grateful to AVC for giving us more time together.

First class service all the way from the phone call to the front desk to the Dr. Even watching them interact with other customers in trauma situations with their baby's. They were all treated with the best care. My dachshund jumped out of my arms Toda and I thought he broke his front leg. He screamed and would only lay on his back. My dog ended just hyperextending his leg and she was able to feel his tabula back into place. Thankyou Jesus! The Dr couldn't have been kinder and genuinely really cared about my dog. She was really happy he was going to be ok. Thans avc!!!!!!! I will tell everyone that I know exactly where they NEED to go if their little one is injured or sick. This Dr really cared. She was so kind. I was crying like a baby. She came back and started to explain things to me and my husband had stepped out of the room and I was so worried and nervous that my husband wouldn't be able to hear anything that the Dr said. But he did make it back to the room in time and the DR happily explained everything about our dog to my husband as well and just reassured us that our baby was ok. Just to see if we can get him to limit exercise for a few days and gave us some rimadyl for pain. I can't imagine a more horrific terrifying awful traumatic experience this was to see my dog with a broken dangling little foot. But AVC treated us with kid gloves no doubt!10 stars! 3 days later and my dog is ok! THANKS AGAIN AVC!!!

Just don't bother. They used to be a good clinic but for the past couple of years they have gone down hill. They have extremely long waits and immediately try to turn you away. 2 yrs ago when I was pregnant my cat was sick (she's elderly and has flare ups that can be scary) they said 2-3 hours (mind you it's 1 am) so we sit in our car and wait. Then 2 hours later they come out and say we won't be able to see her at all tonight. It's just so rude. Then my dog got bit by another dog I called first this time and they were like we have a 4 hour wait and suggested I go somewhere else. I ended up going to mountain west veterinary hospital in Layton who took her in right away and stiched her up. They even let you go home and call you when your pet is really so you don't have to wait. Then this last time (9am Saturday morning) my cat was peeing pus drops at a time. I brought her in and they said she's not urgent so it'll be 4-6 hours. Then they suggested I try some other places that might be cheaper (I wasn't even concerned about the cost) and even suggested I wait till Monday to go to her normal vet... was I suposed to let her suffer all weekend peeing pus??? So I remembered how well mountain west did with my dog so we drove to Layton again they saw her right away and it ended up being a very severe UTI with blood and tons of bacteria in her bladder and they said it's wouldn't have been good to wait till Monday. My point is this place doesn't care about your pet doesn't try to make the wait easy on you and lacks compassion. If you are willing to make the drive just go to mountain west in Layton and you'll be treated so much better and your pets will be better off too!

This place is the best vet I have ever had to take my companion to. They made an impossible situation comfortable, caring, and gave us everything we needed to send our loved one off with care. Thank you a million times over to every single staff member who helped us say goodbye to our little one with grace and respect. This place was and continues to be nothing short of a miracle.

If you have a pet, you need to go here and request care from Dr.Campbell. He will save your animal's life and look good while doing it.
