I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at the Budget Rent-A-Car location at the Salt Lake City airport. The customer service was poor, and I was shocked by the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the staff.Upon arrival, I was informed that Budget Rent-A-Car accepts all types of credit cards except for Apple, even though my card was a MasterCard. This inconsistency and lack of clarity regarding their credit card policy is completely unacceptable and caused unnecessary frustration and inconvenience. It is astonishing that a company of this size and reputation could have such a glaring oversight in their payment policies.Furthermore, the attitude of the staff members was appalling. I was treated with condescension by one of the employees, who when I asked for a manager, she informed me that her coworker was the manager for the day in a manner that was both dismissive and disrespectful. This type of behavior is completely unprofessional and reflects poorly on the company as a whole.I strongly advise against using Budget Rent-A-Car at the Salt Lake City airport due to their poor customer service and lack of professionalism. The experience I had was utterly disappointing, and I will not be utilizing their services in the future. This location is in dire need of training and reevaluation of their customer service standards.

Had no issues, gave me warnings about off road and salt driving fees. I had gotten a Jeep, well kept. Staff were helpful and nice.

Would give negative stars if possible. Set up a reservation on Thanksgiving day for 4 p.m. Airport was literally a ghost town and there were zero people in line and we waited well over an hour for our vehicle. Completely unprofessional. I would rather walk than rent another car from these clowns.

Is it possible to leave a no star review when most Budget employees were very helpful? When I clearly explained why we wanted a Mustang Convertible, Solange, the customer service representative understood and if it would have been in her power to help us, she would have. Unfortunately, the decisions at Budget are robotic and not human. The car you get at Budget is based on the "class" of the vehicle and not on human decisions which understand the needs and desires of other humans. When we arrived to pick up the car and it wasn't even a convertible, the parking lot attendant did everything possible to find us the car we requested, or at least another convertible. He even checked the logs of what was expected to come in within the next hour. Again, the understanding human was overruled by the robotic decision that the car reserved for us was in the same "class" as what we wanted, which no hard top car is the same as a convertible. We reasoned that a convertible would be perfect for driving through Utah's beautiful canyons to take photos. It's a shame that the two wonderful, extremely helpful, Budget employees were powerless to help another human being whose reason for renting the car they understood. Not so when a computer makes the decision which car one gets based on a "class" which is so broad that our wants could not be met. In the end we never even touched the Budget rental, but walked away with our needs unmet, but still charged full price. (Hey, paying the $122 as if we rented the car was cheaper than the $150 we would have been charged had we not shown up.) Okay, not everything was perfect with the Budget employees. The guy at the counter who completed the paperwork acted as if we were an irritation. "Two out of three ain't bad", especially when the two were bending over backward to help us.

DO NOT LEAVE THIS LOCATION WITHOUT A PHYSICAL RECEIPT. They will never email you one. This is an independent location, and there is no way to speak with them directly. They have their phone set up so that it just routes to Budget Corporate. When you speak to Budget Corporate, they will tell you that there is no way to look up your reservation because it is a franchise location, and that they can't confirm that you ever received the car, much less dropped it off. At this point, its been 72 hrs, and I still don't know whether these guys even show that I dropped the car off on time. All Budget Corporate can do is tell you that they will put in an escalated case to request the receipt from them. I've never had such an unprofessional experience (without even mentioning how rude the kiosk agent was when I picked up, or that literally the only car available to rent here is gas guzzling Dodge Charger).Do not, do not, trust them when they say they will email a receipt. Make sure you get a receipt showing exactly what time, what mileage, and what the gas level was when you dropped the car off. Otherwise you will never be able to prove you honored your side of the rental agreement. Good luck to anyone who rents here.

They didn't have my car. Said could upgrade for $10 a day to a Jeep Wagoneer. I agreed to it and then a lady came over and said it needed to be $20 a day minimum. I declined and they said I would have to wait 20 minutes for a car. When they called me back over they said they put me in a Jeep Compass as an upgrade. From a Charger/Challenger that is not an upgrade, but I was anxious to leave. When I get to the spot, I find a Jeep Wagoneer there. A couple of spots over I notice some people just arriving to a Dodge Challenger freshly washed. I guess they got my car that I was waiting for and I got bumped up to a nicer car. Nope! When I am trying to leave the lot they say I have the wrong car. Another person has to go look for my car in another spot. So I end up with a Compass. If you have ever driven one where they are any hills you will know how bad they are. I ended up needing to extend my rental and they have the $20 a day upgrade still in their system. National needs to call local to get it removed...2 days later and no call back on it I have call again and go through the process again. Unlucky for me I have another Budget rental in New Orleans in a month that doesn't go any better.

This is not a review of Budget. This is Budget Utah. It is a franchise and corporate cannot help you after hours with anything about your car. I made my reservation and it defaulted the time to noon pickup and drop off. The rate was really good. After my flights were confirmed, I called to make my pick up later (so I’d have the car eight LESS hours) and the price doubled! Then, when I got there, they didn’t have my car! I waited so long in the line FOR my car, that the airline took my luggage to their lost luggage office! Trying to call anyone for an extension after hours is pointless (Budget Rent a Car not connected to this location).

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I rented April of 2023 and had this review in my documents until I received my refund. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED -- This place is a scam. I usually rent from Avis or Hertz (President's member club on both accounts) but unfortunately both corporations were out of cars from this location. This was the first and LAST time I will ever rent from Budget and am even considering removing myself from the AvisBudget group solely based on just how terrible my experience was at Budget SLC (which btw is a FRANCHISE at this location NOT a corporation). I pre-paid for a car rental from Budget SLC using the budget.com website and when I arrived, the front desk informed me that their location did not accept online pre-payment (Cackling because I just saw a recent bad review with a photo of the budget rep that assisted me). It was very odd to me considering that I was able to complete a reservation via online. No big deal, I had to pay with a physical credit card and had used a different card than the one I used for the online reservation. The front desk informed me that I then will have to call their customer service line to request for a refund of the prepayment. A headache - but whatever, I just needed to get out on the road by then and figured I call for refund when I return home. Upon returning the vehicle, a man came to inspect and THOROUGHLY investigated it, checked under the hood, under the trunk, under the car?? I've rented over 100 cars and this inspection was the most bizarre. What he decided to ding me for was a very tiny scratch on the windshield as if a pebble slightly grazed it, which prompted him and myself to go inside and waste my time to write a damage/accident report! Of course, I claimed no fault but the man (his name is Kevin btw. Good luck to you if you have him inspecting your car as well) literally wanted me to write that I was! Absolutely did not write it and in fact wrote "employee noticed tiny rock chips upon inspection" because what a weirdo! After a month passes by, I receive an email from Budget trying to charge me $600 for damage COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO WHAT WAS WRITTEN ON THE ACCIDENT/DAMAGE REPORT! This time -- they were claiming that the front wheel rubber was ruined! I immediately retaliated and asked for as much documentation of proof to match what I had with me. Now suddenly -- the charges were dropped! AGAIN, MY FIRST AND LAST TIME RENTING FROM BUDGET.Now let me go into getting my refund for the pre-paid reservation: I called the customer service number, and the lady informed me that she initiated a request for refund and I should see the refund within 3-5 business days. I let 10 business days pass and did not see anything. So, I called back, this time speaking with another representative. I am being told to go online and upload a billing statement of that prepayment charge and submit a claim with a brief description of why I am requesting a refund. I do everything mentioned, and then I get an email the very next day. I was addressed by someone else's name (Constance) requesting I send in the online reservation confirmation. I did what was asked while also correcting the person they are speaking to is not named Constance. The next email comes in (different representative) addressing me by my correct name and asking for the billing statement.. odd because I already uploaded the billing statement via their website portal. I attached that billing statement to the email in pdf form like they requested. The NEXT email (another representative) addresses me as Constance AGAIN saying that I rented from Washington and my rental was not prepaid so they could not do anything about this matter?! I responded ONCE AGAIN, informing them that my name is not Constance and I have never rented from Washington, the next response is them claiming they could not process the documents because they claimed it were screenshots sent over via cell phone?? THE UNPROFESSIONALISM OF THIS ENTIRE ESTABLISHMENT. This whole interaction took an entire month, and by now I was c

This is by far the worst rental experience I've ever experienced. We had a confirmed reservation at noon. After we got to the counter, we were told they actually didn't have a car that we had reserved. They did have a different car but it would be another $300 if we really needed a car. They told us to wait. We checked in hourly. After five hours and they still had no cars, we gave up and went to another's agency. If you actually want a car don't come here!

Never ever ever rent from them. We arrived at the SLC airport with a reservation made well in advance and they were so incredibly behind it was absolutely ridiculous. Over 2 hours waiting for a reserved vehicle. How is it possible that the wait is this bad? And I know for certain it’s not an industry problem because Hertz rental is right near there and they’re getting customers a car within minutes WITHOUT A RESERVATION. So it’s obvious that it’s possible to do this job correctly, Budget is just apparently unable or probably unwilling to do it. Initially we were hoping the problem would be solved under an hour or else had we known how long this would’ve taken we would have found a different option. But unfortunately we held on to a false hope for just too long. And this time being stolen from their customers should be reimbursed as a matter of course. If they make a customer wait more than 30 minutes for a reservation they should reimburse them for their time. I would say at least at the rate of about $50/hr. Which in my opinion still feels low. Also, to add on to just our personal bad experience. We spoke to another woman who was waiting for more than two hours as well and she confirmed that she had the exact same experience a few months prior. I’m not sure why she was trying again but nonetheless this confirms to me that this wasn’t just a bad day or a fluke, this is a long term chronic issue. Which is also evidenced by how bad their reviews are on google. I also wish I had seen these beforehand, we just didn’t think about it. This company needs some serious reform in their local management and staff, and sounds like they need to hire more people if they can’t do their jobs. But in whatever case, we’re never renting from them again. At least never from this location.

Same story as countless others here. Over an hour in line with one person working for a car we reserved weeks ahead. No cars ready so we wait another hour for a car. Person in the garage when we returned it told us that was "normal". Didn't look normal when every other counter had plenty of staff and we watched people go up and get their reserved cars without issue. Normal for this company I guess.

Yes, there was only one person working the counter on a very busy travel day. The attendant was nice but Budget needs at least two people working the counter. See my picture of the empty counter.

Absolute farce of a location! 30/40minute waiting in line to be seen and then 2/3 hour wait to actually get a car. And then being told my prepayment wasn’t accepted and that Id then have to pay more than what my prepay actually was - and also a considerably a lot more. Just cancelled and went with turo much easier and preferable option. Staff also carry attitudes. Please avoid!!!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the rental itself, but always opt to return the car on E & pay them to refule, well when I left the city I was staying in, I was near E, so filled the tank myself for $57 fully expecting a refund of the $71 I prepaid for them to refule it & instead ended up paying $128 to fill the tank, when I was told by an employee that they would NOT refund me my money. Until now I was a loyal customer to Budget, now I never plan on patronizing them & will NOT be recommending Budget to anyone in the future. #VeryDissapointed
