Grace went out of her way to help us with our needs and got us signed up for the vital care plan for our cat. Everyone could use an employee like her, I’m switching petco locations to the Sugarhouse one now.

The only bad thing was the lady at the register approached my puppy after I told her she was really scared of people and we are just working on being around them. She still bent down to pet her and got a growl. This is not the interaction I want for my dog as she was told to leave her alone.

I ordered dog food online for in-store pick up at this store. They advertised that it would be ready within one hour.First, it doesn't seem to provide any advantage to order online, because one still has to wait in the check-out line, i.e., there is no separate pick-up counter.Second, the staff didn't find my order in their computer system, even though I showed them the confirmation e-mail, order number etc on my phone. The associate quickly started to allude to "I can't give you your order because people try everything to scam us". The manager then joined the conversation and she suggested that I might have ordered under a different name (not sure why I would do that, and I showed my name on the order confirmation e-mail). The manager was rude but insisted she was trying to be helpful, even though she didn't offer any solution. I left the store without dog food. Three hours later, I got another email from Petco stating my order had been canceled, no explanation. Needless to say, I'll be shopping somewhere else moving forward.

Set up my first grooming appointment for my dog here. He’d been to a groomer before and he was always well behaved, friendly.. I got a call 15 minutes before saying they had technical problems and had to reschedule.. though I was irritated I understand and rescheduled for a later date.The next appointment comes, I bring him in and leave. Less than an hour later they call and say I need to come pick him up because he pooped.. (wow imagine that, a nervous dog pooped at a groomers). I figured it was because they feared for his health and thought he was sick.. nope! They were just annoyed that he pooped from being nervous.So they wasted my time yet again..my husband and I had a rewards card with them and have always bought cat and dog food, treats, and toys from this location (even though they often run out of stock of items). We buy Hills food, definitely not cheap. Thanks to their lack of understanding and customer service skills we will be taking our business elsewhere. I’m very disappointed.. the worst part is knowing that my words have absolutely no impact on how they will treat others in the future. However, hopefully a fellow customer will read this and know to shop somewhere else.

Friendly staff, and reasonable prices on pet supplies. Love to visit to see all the wonderful animals, it's like a miniature zoo!

Tried to exchange or return a dog door I received for Christmas but did not have a gift receipt. Wendi (the manager?) asked for my parents' phone numbers to "prove" they bought it, but it didn't come up in the system, and a refund could only be given within 30 days with the receipt, or store credit within 60 days with a receipt. She said we could do a "corporate" return that would take 6 weeks for a refund. Then she changed her mind and said that was not an option either. Finally, she suggested that we call the manufacturer's customer service phone number on the back of the box to see if they would be willing to refund or exchange it. Not only was this the worst refund policy I've seen in a long time, but she was snotty about it and even suggested that it wasn't purchased there and they don't even carry that brand despite a giant display of them right in the middle of the store. Wendi did admit that the return policy changed very recently. This is why I will not return to this or any other Petco.

If it wasn't for the lovely Grace I'd probably just acquire my pet needs at smith's. That woman deserves a raise. Always goes the extra mile to ensure savings are maximized, extremely knowledgeable about what she is selling. Makes me want to come back. Thanks grace!

it's absolutely filthy. The animal habits were full of poop, and there were no employees to help, only a cashier up fron that couldn't leave the register. I have to wait way too long to get assistance every time I'm here. But it's the only pet place close. They need better management, and more staff.
