I had a sudden car issue (turns out I needed a new alternator) and Mike was able to squeeze me in the same day. Very fair prices and great communication. No one likes a big car bill, but I’ll happily give them my business. Definitely will be back for other inevitable car needs!

Its hard finding an honest mechanic nowadays. Ever since I moved to Utah ive been going to Slaughs. If your looking to give your business to a local honest mechanic who doesnt beat around the bush and takes care of your car. Slaughs car care is the place for all your repair needs.

Have taken multiple vehicles there many times over past 20+ years, they are great. Honest and reasonable, only problem is they are so good they are always busy but well worth any wait! If you are in a jam they will do their best to get you on the road! I now plan ahead to take my truck there from Elko NV, can't find anyone here as honest that dies as good a job!

Ten minutes in and out for my emissions test. Make an appointment. Local, old-school service with the owner present. If I need other services, I'll be scheduling there.

I initially chose Slaugh's because they were nearby, local, and had good reviews. I am happy to report that my experiences over the past several years have all been excellent. They have diagnosed and fixed issues that other places have said they did the same, but didn't. They have given me honest opinions about questions I have had or let me know about potential issues they have noticed while taking care of something else, and the one time I had to visit multiple times for an issue (which was non-critical), they were accommodating and didn't charge.Great work!

Good for oil changes and conveniently located but hard to work with, pricy and use scare tactics to get people to make repairs. Definitely go somewhere else if you need any kind of vehicle inspection.Took my car here for an oil change and pre-trip inspection. I shared some information about a vibration I was feeling. Staffer looked at me like he couldn't wait for me to be gone from his shop while I was explaining the issue. The shop communicates almost exclusively over the phone, making it hard to get anything in writing for later reference and your records. I did not receive any notes for the inspection, but they flagged a couple issues, including an issue with the driveshaft, which they claimed could result in the car being "catapulted" if the part were to fail while the car was in motion, and quoted $1000 for the repair.I asked for the quote in writing, as well as a quote for a second issue they had identified, and only received one. A second opinion from a different mechanic suggested that the driveshaft failing was unlikely to be as dangerous as they suggested, even if the car were in motion, and quoted me ~$400 to repair the issue. The inspection also failed to notice that the jack stand handle was missing from the spare tire compartment, as well as a couple burnt bulbs and suspension issues. Based on the in and out odometer readings on their invoice, they also did not test drive the car, meaning that their "inspection" was mostly a diagnostic of the problem I had laid out for them. $100 for me to do much of the job for them.I would take my business elsewhere, and would be especially careful if you have less experience with cars, since they seem willing to pounce on that.Services: Vehicle Inspection

Not sure if I was provided "woman prices" or if they try to overcharge everybody, but on the phone they quoted me $910 total for five different preventative services. Quite frankly, I found this insulting. A different shop with better yelp reviews quoted me $595 for the exact same work (guess where I went). My prior research indicated a reasonable price range to expect for this maintenance would be $470 on the low end and $715 on the high end.I've actually done a lot of manual work on the truck myself. From oil changes to replacing the alternator, battery, spark plugs and wires, filters, brake pads, and rotors. I don't claim to be an auto expert by any means, but I'm also not clueless. From word of mouth, I've heard Slaugh's is reliable to do what they say they will which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. I might add a few years ago they charged me $85 to simply investigate a weird, ultimately benign sound the truck was making when starting- nothing else. Slaugh's even implied they knew what the issue was the second they looked at it because it was pretty common. Another shop charged me $20 for more work to diagnose AND fix a different weird sound coming from a wheel recently. Due diligence required.

We came into Slaughs with our Subaru after being told by another auto repair business that we needed 7,600 in repairs. Slaughs looked at it thoroughly and said it needed 170.00 in repairs! The repair done by Slaughs cost less than the 200.00 diagnostic charge we paid the other place! I won't take our cars anywhere but Slaughs from now on. Honest, and reliable. The best!Services: General repairs & maintenance

We took my wife’s car in to have the brakes replaced. The car has 93,000 miles and we thought surely they’d be due to be replaced but they told us the brakes were in fine shape. It’s nice to have an honest mechanic that we can go to. We haven’t actually had any work done but know two people who have that were extremely satisfied.Service: Auto brake replacement
