After reading the reviews about this place. I see a lot of you are dealing with the same stuff I did! I felt very unwell living there! The place has a very negative vibe to it! We as renters deserve so much better!

I have lived here since March and I can tell you this place is not worth the $1623 a month we have to pay to live here. The apartment is pretty basic and there aren't many amenities. A pool that has algea floating in the bottom of it, a small exercise room and covered parking that you have to pay for. This place charges for everything and I do mean everything. We pay for water, trash, sewer, electric, gas, Internet and TV and if you want to move out early they stick you with a $3000 fee. They love to water the asphalt here and charge tenants for all the wasted water and when the plumbing backs up we pay for the water from that too. They charge utilities based on what the entire building uses. Everyone pays their part. It's kind of like a commune. Never seen it done that way. But these people only care about money. It's not cheap to move in here and they do raise the rent a lot. Especially when they do any work at all to the apartments. I would not recommend this place unless you like throwing money away. Cheaper to rent a house. Also we have had three managers since we moved in and getting maintenance when you need them is like pulling teeth. We have had our toilet back up several times and I had to go and buy a toilet snake and now I just fix it myself. Cause I don't want to have to deal with trying to get someone in here to unplug it and it always makes a mess and we get to walk around in fecal matter and urine. This problem I have been told has been an issue for awhile and they haven't done anything that I'm aware of to remedy the problem so we are moving out next month.

Employee turnover is NOT an excuse to fail to notify tenants of a rent increase. We have been given 13 days notice of the rent increase. This is particularly predatory in a 55+ community. No one cleans the fitness room, they don’t chlorinate or clean the pool, and the new property manager smokes on the property (while tenants receive monthly notices about how smoking is prohibited on property). Please do better.

Currently am looking for an apartment. Called for their available apartments and they essentially told me that they are mostly a senior community with a few apartments for 18+. When I asked for a clarification on that they simply said “we only have residents above the age of 18”. So that means they don’t allow you to live there if you have a child. WOWWWW

Shame on golden village apartments/ A senior apartment that doesn’t care about peopleWhen my grandmother was moving out she set her move out date for a week before the end of the month. When bad weather prevented her new home from being available and she had to stay till the 29th, just a few days more she was threatened with having the sheriff dept show up at her door to kick her or onto the street? The most absurd part of this story is that she had already paid for the full month. The management had already rented her apartment and their solution to her unavoidable delay was to bully a 78 year old woman. We called the sheriff to allay grandmas anxiety which at this point was medically dangerous and we were told that they didn’t have the right to kick her out....sure enough they never showed up and never said another word. Cowards!Shame on you!!!!!

These apartments are such a great apartment for a good price. There is so much room and are in really good condition. Everyone around the apartments is very friendly as well. Have been helped with anything that has gone wrong. Very pleased with these apartments.

I lived here for three years. I do not recommend renting here as long as the current manager Joanna and her assistant Barbara work at the Golden Village Apartments. The owner Mark doesn't care about his apartments enough to want to know what is going on with his management and the residents. He just signs off on anything Joanna wants. Their relationship is interesting. He stops by once a week for updates and has essentially turned his property over to Joanna to run. Joanna has a passive aggressive personality and can make your life miserable. Joanna loves the power she has been given by the owner and she uses it to keep the residents in line. The bad element and constant police presence from the apartment complex next door was always concerning. It is all a shame because the apartments are really nice. I am so happy to be away from this terrible environment. Golden Village needs an owner who cares about their property, a manager who works well with people and an assistant manager who isn't just a lap dog.Review from Nathan Hedman? Mark Hedman is the owner of the Golden Village apartments and Nathan gave a 5 star review. Okay. Nathan is Mark's brother and has never lived at the apartments. He rents an office in the clubhouse. Not exactly a believable review. The complex has recently had worked done and now the person doing the work has made a five star review. Interesting and desperate.

We recently had to do some work at these apartments. The management was a pleasure to deal with throughout the entire process. Joanna, Barbra, and Mark were easy to work with and made the process very enjoyable. While working on the project I was pleased to find out how friendly the residents were.

Great place! Joanna is very business, not one to enjoy a social outing or time to chit chat with, but I appreciate here efficient manner priced for the customers, that's part of why I like it, and is very well maintained, I've had repairs needed and it is taken care of in an organized quick fashion, the are very fair with the costs involved! Private and quiet for an apartment complex.

Stay far away from golden village apartments in sandy, and I'm saying this for a very unique reason that I personally lived. The LONG TIME on site manager Joanna-something, is a total psychopath who if you report problems to her, she gives you a "comply or vacate" threat, which means comply with being banned from the office merely for reporting something to her. Nuts huh. She sometimes does this to people she targets randomly and sometimes it's to people she's had any kind of a disagreement with. She gets very personal and extremely petty with the residents. In totally unpredictable ways, she'll let some people violate the rules, and if you report a rule violation that she has quietly allowed (such as allowing ONE resident to have a grill on their balcony) you're done. You'll be banned from the office and your lease won't be renewed. It's terrifying. What on earth is wrong with her? Hard to say, but based on long term experience with her, it appears she DOES NOT WANT RESIDENTS COMING INTO THE OFFICE. She seems to hate the residents. I wonder if she has some sort of severe social anxiety disorder and she turns very aggressive, especially around people who live there. Needless to say, she should not be managing people and the owner is FINE with her abuses of the residents because she brings in the $$$. She has done this to a long list of residents over the years, both young and old, including an elderly relative of mine. The owner of this complex, a smarmy, gutless, money grubbing, privileged little brat named Mark Headman, who got his wealth and this complex, from daddy, hasn't worked an honest day in his life, and loves using this horrible woman to abuse the residents for his big profits. WORSE, he's fine with his insurance settling all the multiple lawsuits against the complex that I have observed over the years. As long as he doesn't have to do anything. My elderly relative gave her washer/dryer to a resident when she left Joanna's kingdom, and now the very people she gave them to, have also received these same despicable threats and intimidation from the manager/psychopath. Why? Because they dared to report and take pictures of a broken stair. So reporting a SAFETY ISSUE gets you banned from the office. The management only cares about money and gets extremely hostile very fast. The owner hides from the residents, which is entirely consistent with all of these evils. Do not subject fragile people to the toxic management culture at golden village. I suppose if you have a relative you really hate, sending them to live at golden village would be fantastic revenge. The facilities of the complex are barely average and somewhat tolerable, but if you like living in fear and terror, you'll JUST LOVE the on site management of Golden Village. If you like unpredictable and irrational aggression, from people who only want your money, then go live at GV.
