The instructors are lazy and without honor! It is on my bucket list to tell this to both the instructor who ran the Learn To Ride basic course in Cedar City UT on May 29th and 30th 2021 and to the administration in charge of the course. I don't want to go fist to cuffs with them or involve any manor of violence, but, they need to be called out by someone like me who has decades on 2 wheels and has helped quite a few people get into the sport. The difference between me and Utah Motorcycle Rider Safety, is that I find honor in making other people a better rider, and I will never sacrifice someone else safety so I can go home early; Utah Motorcycle Rider Safety had clearly demonstrated that they will.My wife signed up for the class and we paid our $230 dollars which was suppose to involve 16 hours of riding time, my wife was only provided with 11 hours of training (by an honorees and lazy instructor) before she was told to take her test around 11:30AM on the second day (class started at 8:00AM that day and she was never allowed time for a break or lunch). The instructor did this so he could get back on the road early, this man who considers himself an educator, put a student in a "sure to fail position".....so he could go home early...as such...he is honor-less.I witnessed with my own eyes as this instructor would remain static in one position on the "range" and attempt to observe 8 students negotiating 6 or more cone scenarios across a very large area.As first hand testimony to the instructors laziness and incompetence I will share the following situation that I witnessed. I had brought my wife lunch on the first day, when I arrived the students had just begun another portion of riding on the range. One of the cone scenarios was a section of slalom turns, as I watched my wife negotiating the slaloms it was apparent to me in a very short time that she attempting to ride the scenario too fast, She was going too fast because she was not using her rear brake nor utilizing the friction zone of the clutch. Had the instructor showed some personal fortitude, he would have been walking around the course where he could witness the same thing, instead, he remained in one spot and told my wife to "turn her head more", which is an important aspect of the scenario and very important for a number a real world riding situations....but anyone who cares about actually teaching a person to ride instead of just "checking the blocks" could see that she had other issues to work out for that scenario.Any person who takes some pride and honor in the education of others knows that you can't force a person to pass ANY test, but, they know it is their duty to make conditions as optimal as possible to pass, when this instructor saw that the other people in the class where catching on quickly while my wife wasn't, he wrote her off so they he could have short first day and start his way back home around lunchtime on the second day.To this instructor and likely all involved at Motorcycle rider Safety, teaching others to ride is a feather in their cap, not an honor felt in their heart. If this organization actually cared about the long term safety of their students, then they would train their students to standard, not to time.I took this course myself decades ago, I suggested it to my wife because I remembered the instructors willingness to spend extra time with student who were struggling, they would stay late after class and put in WORK with those students who just couldn't get the feel of a cone scenario. However, now they are lazy and without any honor and would rather just put in WORDS.That instructor and this organization is a disgrace. I pledge to them that I will arrive every time they teach a class in Cedar City an ensure that instructor always fulfills his obligation as an instructor to make conditions as optimal as possible and to never short another student on time when safety is involved.
