We have loved our time at the Sylvan Sandy location. Lindsay & Bri always take the time to listen to any questions or concerns I have about my kids education and even provide insight and helpful suggestion when I express the struggles and frustrations we are seeing at our school with specific teachers. On top of seeing progress & growth academically the teachers are fantastic. Mr. Allan, Mrs. Kristen & Mrs. Amy are a few of my kids favorites. Academic growth, grade improvement and community are just a few of the things we have found here at Sylvan.

Our daughter was really struggling with her reading skills and slowly falling farther and farther behind her peers. Anytime we tried to read together at home, she would get frustrated and tell me she’s “just not a good reader!” We enrolled her in other reading programs that didn’t move the needle. Since starting at Sylvan, we have seen significant improvement in every aspect of her literacy; her teachers always comment on how much progress she consistently makes. She is confident about reading aloud and now considers herself a good reader.

I have seen consistent improvement in my daughter's reading skills since she started at Sylvan. She went from a reluctant and discouraged reader to a confident one who reads aloud without hesitation. I have been extremely pleased with the results I've seen.

Sylvan Learning of Sandy is rare in that it currently offers tutoring/support in advanced science and mathematics courses, including undergraduate calculus, physics, engineering, and computer science. If you're in high school or college and seeking help with STEM homework, which can be hard to find, call this place!

Horrible experience!! I do NOT recommend this place at all! My mother in law signed my 7 year old up to help with his reading, it was outrageously expensive but we thought if it helps him it will be worth it. Also there is supposed to be a money back guarantee if they aren't successful in helping the child. So my son went for 3 months and we'd have meetings about his progress where they'd ho on and on that he's progressing much faster than expected etc. However I wasn't seeing those results at home and every time after his class I'd ask him what he learned and he'd say math. He wasn't there for math so I didn't know if he was just being a stinker or what. Then because of not wanting to drive in bad weather we switched him to zoom. 90% of the time the link they sent wouldn't work so he'd miss all or most of class because we couldn't get connected. Also, I then understood why he said he had learned math every time. These incompetent people were pairing him up with a student that was tutoring in math, and as I listened in on the zoom calls I'm not joking, 80% to 90% of his time the teacher would spend tutoring the other student math while my son sat and twiddle his thumbs with nothing to do. Then the small other percent the teacher would focus on my son and keep in mind that this is after he had already gone from a supposed 2 hour class to 1 hour usually less due to connection issues with their zoom link. So my son didn't progress at all and I was very upset hearing the tutoring so we decided it wasn't worth it and we should pursue other options for him. Then come to find out their supposed guarantee is a joke. The are not refunding quite a bit of money to my mother in law, and in their break down for the refund they claim he had 20 sessions in November which is a complete fabrication. There is no possible way. Because 1 that was the month we switched to zoom and decided not to use their services any longer, and 2 I know for a fact I called to say he couldn't make it because of bad weather 3 or 4 of the days he was signed up for. He didn't even have 10 days where he should have gone in November, I counted and there were only 9 Then factor in the last week he didn't go because we had decided to stop, and then the 3 or 4 days I called off and then the missed sessions due to their system and not sending working zoom links. So they're lying and now my mother in law will have to fight to get back what's owed to her. Worst place ever. Stay far away.

Horrible. Their “guarantee” means nothing. We paid $4,442 to Sylvan for math tutoring for our son over the summer. They gave assurance that he would master the 4th grade level math topics taught at his school one at a time, and they would not move on to a new topic until he had “mastered” the previous one. He went to approximately 80-100 hours of tutoring two days per week for four hours all summer long until the week that school started. They tried to force me to continue his tutoring but I told them it wouldn’t be possible when school started. Rose Romero, The Director of growth and development for Sylvan learning Centers, told me that Seth had mastered all of the subjects that he had been taught and that he was at level and ready to begin fifth grade math. However as soon as he started school he was showing failing grades in math. We have been in touch with Sylvan 10-15 times trying to get her to refund our money. She said she would look at that, but she insists she has to talk to his teacher before she will consider making the situation right. We showed her the topics and his test scores, but Rose insists she talk to his teacher directly. The teacher gave us his math topics he is failing at, but we have not been able to coordinate Rose speaking with the teacher. The teacher doesn’t feel it necessary to talk to Rose. In the meantime, we’re at a stalemate and I think Rose is waiting for us to give up. Also, we paid $4347 and we’re expecting a refund of $1815.36 at the conclusion of all the tutoring. We paid the larger price upfront for a cheaper hourly rate of tutoring. I had a hard time getting a refund from Rose because she tried to pressure me in to using that $1815.36 for additional tutoring. I’m glad I insisted on getting a refund because the tutoring has been useless anyway. She told me I’d be getting a smaller refund. I had to insist on the full amount which she had failed to add up properly. If I hadn’t caught her mistake I would’ve missed out on hundreds of dollars in refund due me.

For the last nine months our daughter has been attending sylvan for help in math and reading. She had some bad years in school which put her behind her peers. In this short 9 months she has gone from 3/4 grade levels to 6/7 grade levels. Enough to allow her to start 6th grade this year with confidence and the ability to succeed! If you ask her what’s her favorite thing she will say the prizes/gift card you can earn. The teachers all said they would fight to have her as their student, but I’d say she made the efforts to be successful. I thank you all for giving her the confidence to succeed and be the happy young lady she is.Again, thank you for all you did.Perry Schmid.

I am so grateful for the caring staff at Sylvan. My daughter came home and showed me her 7th grade writing assignment that was marked with an A. My heart melted. Because of the attention she received at Sylvan she is now proud of her work and eager to learn. I could not be more pleased as a parent with Sylvan's results.
