I had a unit with Extra Space Storage in Saratoga Springs for 2 months and then got a notice that they were raising the rent by $40. I opted to find another storage facility not only for that reason, but the dust inside my unit was so bad. After a few days I went back to put a few more things in there and everything was coated in dust. I had to cover everything with plastic. When I went to move everything out, there was mice poop on all of my things and all over the floor.
If you do rent from here, be cautious and put rodent killer in your unit and plastic wrap around your belongings.
On the upside, the customer service was great.

Quick and easy move in with lots of deals to choose from, move out after a couple months was great and simple as well. This company has never let me down with storing my things when there’s no where else for them to go.

Sand and dirt over everything. We had a 10x30 storage and there was dust covering every inch of our stuff. On top of that our rates which were already high were about to be raised significantly. Not worth it. Glad we got out.

Been in this unit since 2019. Moving out because they keep raising my rate. Just shy of 200$. Other comparables in the area are 115-125. Plus there is so much dust in this area and mice. Always had layers of dust over my stuff and mice poop all over.

Our storage unit that we have had for years is suddenly INFESTED with mice. We didn’t have any food so they ate through all our boxes, and destroyed personal possessions. Also when we opened our unit it was so covered in dirt and dust that we may as well have left it outside. Our brand new couch is covered in rat poop and pee. So incredibly disappointing. We reached out to management and they didn’t even bother returning calls or emails.

The indoor small storage space was very clean and easy to access. They also provided a very nice 4 wheel cart to facilitate the inside move of all of our totes. My only criticism of Extra Space Storage was how frequently they raised the price. Never by a huge amount, but it seemed every 60-90 days there was an increase.

I understand a little dust is expected in storage, but what I walked into looked like my unit had gone through a sandstorm in the middle of the desert. I would’ve had a better chance just leaving my stuff outside. The amount of dirt and debris was insane — thick, heavy piles of it coating everything.
My couch, which was fully wrapped and protected, was completely ruined. Even items that were sealed up didn’t stand a chance. When I asked what happened, I was told it was from construction. If you knew this was going on, why didn’t anyone contact me? A simple phone call could’ve saved my belongings. Instead, everything I stored was left to sit there and get destroyed.
This wasn’t just a little dust — it was neglect. The fact that no one warned me or took steps to protect tenants’ property is inexcusable. Extra Space Storage failed to provide the most basic standard of care, and I lost everything because of it.
