Hands down the worst customer service. Yesterday I called because I recently ordered alligners from smile direct club however they went out of business before they ever shipped them. I paid the $250 deposit already and due to there not being customer service or a way to cancel or anything, I called Merrick to find out if freezing my card would prevent them from charging the monthly payment. While on the call the woman didn’t answer my question, instead transferred me to the dispute center apparently. I waited on hold for almost an hour before it disconnected and no one ever called me back. I called them back and selected the dispute center, waited for a bit before someone in another department answered. She was the absolute worst. So hateful and wouldn’t allow me to speak just kept talking over me instead of hearing the issue. Finally she said she transferred me and I waited for almost two hours and no one ever answered. Today I called again and it’s been almost an hour I’ve been on hold after being sent to the wrong department yet again. I’ve now had to verify my entire card number, dob, address, full name, social and phone number EIGHT times! They refuse to get someone on the line for you and they refuse to transfer without hearing “my story” and verifying everything first. Backstory for those wounderong….I’ve had this account for a year now and this is my first time having to call in. I’ve never had any late payments or over the limit or anything and they’ve raised my credit twice so far.

Pay your balance on time and you get regular credit limits increases. Started with $1000 limit and I'm at $2000 in 6 months. Even though I have a 0 dollar balance.

I have not had the extremely negative experiences it seems most people on here claim to have had. I applied for a Merrick Bank credit card back in 2013. I had horrible credit and they approved me with a $500 credit limit and a high interest rate, but what else could I expect with a credit score in the 400's? Since then I've gotten credit limit increases without asking and with very few exceptions I always pay my bill in full and on time. Only once did I have to dispute a charge, and the customer service rep was very helpful. Today I have great credit and I still have my Merrick Bank card. I have to thank them because they gave me chance to rebuild my credit when no one else would.

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!!I used the card to gamble on line of which they allowed the charges to go through and then today I find they have closed the card, even though I pay my balance off regularly because I violated their warning they said they had sent twice. I never received a notice nor an email stating this. I now understand why they mostly have a rating of "1".

Terrible. Do not recommend. I've been a customer for almost 4 years, 100% on-time payment history, no issues. I paid off my cc then called about any offers, was going to close my account when they couldn't provide any good ones, decided not to close in the end so that I could get the reporting that my card was paid off completely. Rep closed my account anyway. I. had to call and have them listen to the call for them to reinstate it. When I asked what would be done for the inconvenience and inconsideration the escalations department said they would speak to the agent. I said I don't care as that does not impact me and what else could be offered and she said nothing basically.Extremely POOR customer service especially after an already POOR experience. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Customer service has always been efficient and pleasant with me. My card was hacked and they were very helpful in investigating and reversing the charges. This bank is the only one that would touch me to re-establish my credit after divorce and bankruptcy. Even though my credit is good now and I have other cards, despite the monthly fee, I continue to keep the card

This credit card service is horrible. I make more than the suggested minimum due and the total amount never goes down. I have had this card closed for over two years. They are fraudulent and like to reverse your monthly payments to cause overdraft fees and negative credit points. Then after they reverse charges they want to claim you never paid your bill and try to charge you late fees. This credit card service also supports sex trafficking. Do not use this card!

I don't care how bad you need to improve your credit and want a credit card. DO NOT use this scam of a company. They only want your money. This company not only charges you $350 to secure the card they then charge you $3 a month for not using the card. Then when you get tired of trying to remember you have the card because they fail to send remindersand you close the account you only get $200 back.

This by far has been the worst experience I’ve ever experienced. The customer service they have is terrible. They blocked off my card without my knowledge. When I called in and given my information to the automated system and spoke with the representative they say they block my card because my address wasn’t updated which I understood. But they blocked my access on the app so I wasn’t able to update it. I also spoke with a supervisor and she said she couldn’t unblock my account until I gave her my mother’s maiden name. I explained my mother is deceased and I’m unsure why you need that information if I provided all the information regarding my identity. Being a member with this bank has always been an issue. I cancel my card. Do yourself a favor please take heed to the reviews it will save you from a disappointing experience I promise!

Terrible experience with this credit company. The customer service team just reads what's on their screens and prompts and doesn't look into anything your telling them. I had my card fraudulently used and was put over the limit. When I called and reported this they said until my card was not over the limit they would keep it suspended. Months later, after several auto payments and my account not being over the limit they are refusing to activate my card to use and keep telling I need to make more payments?? DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT COMPANY!!!

I’ve had a cc with Merrick Bank since 2014 trying to rebuild my credit. I’ve not had the issues I’m reading in reviews but I’ve also not had to call customer service for anything. They’ve given me credit line increases without me asking. I pay my bill on time but do carry a balance due to adding my daughter as an additional card holder. I’ve since taken her card away and continue to pay monthly. I haven’t used it in quite some time due to wanting to get out of debt but now I may just go get a tank of gas so my account doesn’t get closed.

Run from this bank... I called today with my dad regarding his account and someone who calls himself Jr. told me he wasn't going over the transactions because my (elderly) father needs to read his statements. When I asked for a manager he refused. Never in my life have I had such an experience with any of my banks. I'm not sure how my father entered into an agreement with such an entity but the problem will be solved.

Idk why they have such low review scores! I've been with them for about 5 years and NEVER had an issue!. Spoke to GREG today because I was late on a payment and he was EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, and answered all my questions, and helped me get the payment made! Customer service is A LOT better here than a few other credit card services I use!.. THANKS GREG!

Was my favorite cc I own I got a little behind on my payments and so I started a payment plan. Had some questions as to why things still said i had to pay the full balance I owe and they transferred me to another rep and he explained it to me. Then I was in the middle of explaining the hardships I am going through right now so he understood why this happened and he just hung up mid sentence and hasn't called back so ..... i dunno lol. Maybe he hit a wrong button or did have time to hear my sob story... not sure but my issues were resolved and I have done call center work and its sometimes impossible to call back the person you just spoke to so whatever....

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a credit card. I signed up for a card a little over 2 years ago. After 6 months of having the card, I was told that I needed to replace it because of some technical issue on their end. I have now been waiting to receive the new one for over a year and a half. I kept getting told that my address was incorrect. I have personally edited my account address 4 times now, only to go back to see that it has been changed(this is not an exaggeration or fabrication). I have called customer service 6 or 7 times now only to get the same reply that my address was incorrect. I went in again to edit my address, low and behold, it looked like someone mashed their keyboard on the address line and pressed enter. So I changed it back to the correct address and called customer service. No joke, within the 2 minutes of entering the correct address and being on the phone, my address was rearranged. I still can't rap my head around that. I explained to the representative assisting me that this has been going on for over a year or more now without resolution, and that I have had zero customer satisfaction. The representative brushed off my concerns, changed my address again after I just literally changed it a few moments back, and said that I should be receiving a new card in 7 to 10 business days and asked if there was anything else she could help me with. I stated that this is ridiculous and that I am canceling my account. Needless to say I will no longer be using Merrick Banks services, hands down worst customer service I've experienced.
