Wayne Bartholomew Family Park is a great little place with a beautiful pond and small beach. The water is fairly clear and not too cold, perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, or kayaking. It is a fun place to take kids, with a nicely groomed beach and a marked-off pond area that attracts lots of ducks. There is a nice walking path around the pond, and fishing is usually pretty good from the large grassy area.
The park has different sized pavilions, each with grills, which are a nice place to eat lunch. There is a restroom, a snack shop, and a large parking area with overflow parking. The grounds are beautifully maintained.
However, parking costs $15 or $16 for non-residents. Pavilion rentals are only available in three-hour blocks and are considered very expensive, making a small family barbecue quite costly. A significant issue is the hundreds of bees attracted by sage bushes and uncovered trash cans near the pavilions, which can be a real bother. Despite these drawbacks, it is an awesome small lake and a little gem of a spot to spend the day, offering space for everyone in a safe, manageable setting.
