Shaved to the skin, Many Cuts, and No ApologiesWe had recently taken our Teacup Yorkiepoo to get groomed. This was our second time bringing him to Give a Dog a Bone. He has always been well behaved for his haircuts, he also baths very easy. We have never received a bad review on his behavior. We left instruction to have him trimmed with a Yorkie Cut. But, we received him back buzzed almost to the skin. He also had cuts all over which we had to treat with antibiotic, and clean daily. He had dozens of smaller cuts all over, and also had a large gash to the bone on his heel that has taken a month to finally close. Hair no longer grows there. He also had large cuts on his neck, chin, under his eye, and on his ear. We payed $40 and left with him before fully realizing the damage. But sent a message as soon as we did notice on the way home. We have not received any message back. For the following weeks he was too scared to be left alone, use the restroom, or even play and enjoy walks like he used to. I would reach down often to pet him and he would yelp and flinch as if I would hit him. This dog has never known violence or been hit within his home. We just had to love him and hold him and wrap his wounds until he healed. We reached out to Give a Dog a Bone, and they have yet to respond or take any responsibility. No apologies received yet. We initially chose this location because we heard they care for the dogs and love them.Despite the poor haircut, we are really only upset about the injuries, and damage that occurred, and the lack of sympathy that followed. We felt it was best we warn others of what can happen here. I wonder if by chance he was cut initially as an accident, and then was less behaved leading to a difficult grooming. But the fact he still flinches, and nips at my hand when I approach to pet him, makes me wonder if he was hit as well. We hope things get better for all parties involved.

We were traveling through Vernal and wanted to have our little Aussie bathed and get his nails trimmed. Give a Dog a Bone was close to our RV park, so we chose them over Petco. When I arrived little dogs were barking and Bluberry started getting nervous and trembling in my lap. But when Rachel the groomer arrived and sat down to talk with me I knew our little guy was in good hands! He looks fantastic with his little bootie trimmed down and his fur is still soft 3 days later. We’re really glad we tried this place!

They did an awesome job with our puppy! He was a little shorter than we thought he would be, but he still looked amazing! And the staff treated him so well!

They are always so sweet and kind to our dogs and they are perfection with grooming! We live in the area seasonally and get treated like lifelong residents.

We’ve taken our dogs other places for boarding and sometimes the dogs come back acting skittish. Dogs can’t tell you what happened. One of our dogs has an intimidating bark but is the sweetest girl, and the other is the least judgmental dog and is a friend to everyone. At Give a Dog a Bone, whenever I pick up the dogs, the dogs are acting like their normal selves. If our dogs do something crazy of if there’s any concerns, the workers will tell us (we have a hypochondriac dog that will limp for attention. We’ve had her knee looked at and she’s fine). We’ve also have gotten the dog groomed here. They’re good. Mandy used to always cut our dog’s hair but they’re growing and expanding so the last time we had someone else do it. They did a good job.Since the pandemic they did have to raise their prices but the extra cost is worth it because they treat the dogs the best.Photo is of our dog that was recently groomed at Give A Dog A Bone.

I dropped off a Labradoodle and picked up a whippet in the middle of winter after I said I didn't want my dog shaved. I am well versed in corded dogs. Poodles are often corded. I was aware that my doodle had quite a bit of matting. I was prepared to cord him over a few weeks, but I wanted to see if he might brush out. I brought him in and said maybe if it's really bad we can trim him like a schnauzer...I received a call asking to shave him if need be and I said, " it is supposed to snow, please don't shave him". I was so upset when I saw him. He's even knicked to the skin in several places. It's only hair and it will grow back but it's so cold outside, when I brought him home he wouldn't stay out long enough to potty so he pottied inside my house. He's never done that. To add insult to injury, she left him with a shaved head and a fluffy tail. He looks absurd. Who shaves a dog to his skin. She looked at me like I was a terrible dog owner because she shaved most of his coat in one piece. It was like she thought she was doing my dog a favor(as if he were a rescue from the street in trouble). The nerve. I could have corded him without a problem. My poor dog is freezing. I have to find him a coat in the morning. I made a sarcastic remark about bringing my kommondor in and teaching the group how to cord, but quite frankly, that's not gonna happen. I'm mortified, my dog is freezing, and this groomer doesn't listen to the owner. Oh, she also had a handful of hair she raised up at me and stated, "This was from his balls." Who does that? She kept using the word balls over and over like it was the proper terminology - yuck. Just yuck. I will drive to Salt Lake next time - or do my own dog... she followed me out to my truck, saying she wanted an after photo, but it felt like she was looking to cover her buttor start something. I paid the bill, and out of habit, I tipped her. I was literally in shock. In hindsight, I should have refused or left no tip at all. A man passed us by on the way to our truck, he was.laughing it was so bad. Give your dog a chance by not taking a chance here.

We've been going here for a while now. We love they way Lora grooms our dog but she would be there for 4-5 hours for a grooming. Keep in mind she's a 13 lb morkie. I kept giving them "another chance" hoping it got better. Today I dropped our dog off for a scheduled grooming appointment at 10 a.m. I hadn't heard anything from them and called around 2:45 and got told they got behind and that she should be done around 3:30 - 4. Well she still wasn't done till 6pm when my wife just walked in to pick her up. And to top it off my wife sat and watched the groomer we scheduled the appointment with sit outside smoking with the guys from the tattoo shop next door while another groomer trimmed our dog. When asked why she wasn't the groomer they lied and said she "had to leave". DO NOT take your dogs to Give a Dog a Bone!

been taking Odin to Give a Dog a Bone for years!! I dropped Odin off at 12:20 pm cause we were late cause of road construction .His appt. was at 12 pm I went back at 3ish and they told me it takes 1 1/2 to 2 hrs he will be done . they told me they call me when Odin was done . About 5:30 pm he was done and waited , saw the owner walk out cause it was close to closing and figured Odin was finished .. never had that experience here , so it surprises me how I was treated and how it took 5 hrs . if it keeps repeating know one will take there animals here!! disappointed is all

Don't know what happened the haircut is different on one side than the other they cut the bangs wrong they didn't clean and brush the tail they didn't clean her eyes they're still black circles under her eyes for almost a half an inch she was terrified when I picked her up I think they're short staffed which was an unusual event with only one real license groomer in the store to my knowledge

5 stars hands down for one of the best groomers in town! My 2 dogs, a chihuahua & a gindo/shitzu, both get groomed at the same time, and both come back looking amazing & shining their own personalities! My one has her toenails painted, and the other has her sassy tail colored. They smell great, and look great. And the best part, it doesn’t take long at all. They make you feel like a priority, and don’t waste your time. Very convenient, and super friendly!
