If getting a car loan at a credit union can be a good experience, this was it...Fast and efficient,done by friendly staff,and to top it off I got 2.49% interest rate!!!

To Anyone Considering Becoming a Member: I had been a member of this credit union for almost 40 years and could not believe how poorly they handled a cash deposit incident I experienced and thought I should pass this along. I made a cash deposit at the Sandy Utah Branch last Tuesday and was 100% certain regarding the amount of money I pass through the drive up window to the teller. The teller took my money then walked away and turned her back while counting the money then came back a few minutes later and gave me a receipt which was $100 short of the amount I gave her. I challenged this and came in to talk with the branch manager, Ashley Hanawalt, who said she would check the video. I told the manager it is poor service and not standard practice to not count the money in front of me when I made the deposit. I also said it is also poor service and should not be standard practice to not verify the amount of money that was being deposited. Ashley told me to be patient, so I waited about 15 more minutes then left saying I could be reached by phone. The next day I connected with Ashley who agreed the failures of the teller were their fault but the video did not show the missing $100 bill I was certain I handed the teller. I asked to have the incident escalated which Ashley agreed to do. Later that day I received a call from the Director of Operations, Jayna Hunsaker, who admitted the teller was in the wrong to not count the money and to not confirm the amount of deposit but she also told me I was out of luck because they could not find video evidence of the missing $100 bill. I told Ms. Hunsaker that I had never experienced a discrepancy in being credited for a cash deposit in my nearly 40 year history with American United Federal Credit Union and that a failure to follow proper banking practices at this level resulted in my not being credited for $100 of the deposit I made, and at the very least has inconvenience me substantially. At the bare minimum, I reminded Ms. Hunsaker that we were agreeing that in this case proper procedure was not followed by the teller and as Director of Operations I let her know that her only offering an apology did not seem fair or appropriate. To anyone who expects to be treated fairly and with respect as a credit union member, I would remind you that you have many credit union and banking choices and I would strongly advise you to avoid American United Federal Credit Union. I recently applied for and finalized an auto loan. The entire process was done seamlessly via phone and email, and I only had to stop by the branch to pick up the check for the dealership. The whole thing took less than 2 hours. This is why I have auto loans ONLY with American United. This is my 6th auto loan with them.

So nice and helpful. I was worried opening up a new account, and it turned out to be a very great experience. All of the staff is friendly and personable. I get why my family goes here. Top notch for a credit union. An overall a very good experience.

The few times I've had to call my phone experience has been less than would you would expect from banking professionals. Its almost like I'm connected with a new hire or something every single time. They don't know their processes and take forever to answer basic questions.

It is hard to get money transfered in and out and they say the do zelle this app for transferring money but even that does not work other than that AMFCU has been great to me over the past twenty years.
