How it’s Vermont made

So disappointed I can't shop for pottery here. I have a gift card I've waiting to use since my wedding right before Covid. Since pottery is unique to each piece, I don't want a random person picking out my special piece of pottery. I am so frustrated there is no information about reopening. Going out of business? Closed for good? What's the deal?

Standing outside the outlet I was told over my phone no one inside could help me. They would need 24 to 48 hours to turn my order around or I could call in ahead at least a week out if I wanted to shop inside.
So I ordered from Etsy instead.

8-16-24. What the heck has happened to the once beautiful. Vibrant, VT based company. Abandoned property with no signs of any activity. Can't navigate their website to find out where they are making their once gorgeous pottery. Probably having china producing it. Shame on this once great business. I definitely don't recommend

If you have been dreaming about owning Bennington pottery dishes, buy them. You will never get over it, so just do it. In 1972, I was 16, and my parents were moving us from my wonderful Maine home to Ohio. We made a stop at the Bennington factory because my mother had a dream. She bought service for 8 and some serving pieces. My sister and I were each allowed to pick out a bowl and a cup for ourselves. The dishes were used every day and eventually it was no longer a service for 8, but I got those beautiful serving pieces. Fast forward 50 years and I never got over those dishes. My husband arranged for the arrival of four boxes this morning, packed to survive a lunar landing. I am attaching pictures of the 51 year old baking and serving pieces, along with my new dishes and the mountain of packing materials. Bennington staff, you are amazing, and thank you for making my dream come true!

I called the factory to make an appointment to see the seconds that I needed to replace and they were unable to give me an appointment at any time during the day I called, which Was one of the 3 days that they are open by appointment only. Very unhelpful employee.

We moved South 22 years ago from Brattleboro. I have a friend doing Nursing in Bennington. We told her to go visit your store. Only to find its closed. You do know that Pottery needs to be felt and touched. Buying online is okay... but not a full substitute for Personal shopping. But New England is like that! Online is great, but you can do both. you need a physical presence. The Northeast is a tough place to build and maintain a business. In the southeast we would just shake our heads. people want options. Its because of where your at, that prevents you from being able to have a small store. New England is almost an impossible environment, to build and maintain a business.

I love the pottery but hate the store closure. Three years being temporary closed with no word about reopening in sight and expensive mail orders being the only option is not customer friendly!

Ordered 2 baking dishes in 2020. Noticed that one of them had what looked like crack lines in it but didn't really think too much about it. In December 2021 I made dinner in one of the dishes and when I put it on the table, it split. I emailed them & was told to send pictures & fill out a form. It took forever to get a response and when they finally did, they only offered me a 50% discount to get a replacement. Not sure why I had to pay for a replacement if the product was defective. Anyway, the replacement arrived and about 2 months later, I'm seeing crack lines in it, so I'm not using it. I don't think I should even bother emailing them because I know I'm either not going to get a response or they're not going to stand behind the product and I'll have to pay again for another dish, which I refuse to do. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary with these baking dishes so I guess they're just poorly made and I'm stuck now and out the money for 2 dishes-one that I threw out and one that's defective. Very poor customer service!!

My wife and I have purchased way over a hundred Bennington Potters pieces since 1984. Not as collectors, we just appreciated the workmanship, and use these dishes and bakeware every day.We just ordered a bake dish as a gift, and boy are we glad we didn't have it shipped directly to our friends. The glaze was poorly applied, actually missing in spots. I contacted Bennington's "customer service" and they advised me that the poor workmanship was part of the uniqueness! They offered to exchange the piece, but I would have to pay for the return shipping. $20 shipping for a $56 item. WOW, David Gil (the original owner) would have never let such poor product or customer service exude from his company.Buyer BEWARE.

I grew up in Bennington and was in the store quite often. After 56 years we still have some of the trivets. The mugs we have passed on. A great memory to travel there.

Place is still closed for COVID as of March 2022. Pretty sad. Not sure why retail is still closed but I hope they can make it. We have a few potters in our family and wanted to check it out. I hope they do not close forever. Looked like it was falling apart.

That its remainder the same amazing place just like it was when I would be with my family as a little kid up skiing and would go there with my mom and always looked forward to going there and a store to go buy some plates and cups would typically not be at the top of my list but bennington pottery was always one of the places we never missed stopping off at on every trip. For me it's that familiar smell everytime I'd walk into the place. The place definitely rocks and the staff has always been really nice and helpful and it's obvious they definitely have a passion for what they do true artist's. If anyone is reading this and considering stopping in there definitely do it's worth the stop.

Ordered a lot of beautiful pottery from here (around 50 pieces). I was dissatisfied with one of the bigger ones because it had sloppy glaze on it that looks like a spill that was done too quickly. It looks dirty and none of the other pieces have anything approaching this level of brown. When I contacted them politely, I received a curt response that it “was a first quality piece” and a condescending explanation that there are variations with each piece (which as a collector I was of course very aware of). Despite their guarantee they were unwilling to replace the piece. Very disappointed as I was a loyal customer and they were extremely rude.

Extremely high quality and definitely worth the price. Shipping was also fast and everything came expertly wrapped and in perfect condition.
