This is a homeless half way house. I noticed most guests looked unkempt and curiously asked a few where they were traveling from. Imagine my shock when at least 6 answered that the state of Vermont pays this best western a discounted price for them to live there! Here I am paying full price for a run down room with homeless drug users as my neighbors. I don't know when best western started this program but I will not stay at a best western again!

They were undergoing some renovations at the time of our stay. It's an older place, our bathroom door squeaked hauntedly, but we got a kick out of it. Room is open spaced but clean and the door opens from the outside so it got cold easily. Loveseat terribly uncomfortable and seats dipped. Mattress definitely had a dip on the one side that made the bed a little uncomfy. Continental breakfast was good, and located in an actual room that was repurposed for those renovations. Great coffee.

We were charged more for a handicap room with a roll in shower which is a no/no as per the ADA. However, we accepted that because we were able to find a room. Upon entering the room we realized it wasn't a handicap room and called the front desk. They said they saw the notes on our reservation but gave the room to another guest. Due to this and both my husband and I having mobility issues we weren't even able to shower, the only grab bars was on the far wall inside the tub and nothing more. We stopped at the front desk the next morning and spoke to the 2 staff people there, one staying in a chair holding a baby behind the desk and the other came in from smoking in her vehicle and explained to her how to adjust the rate, because they agreed they would give us a 15% discount because of this. When my husband checked out he got a print out which said we paid the higher amount but also on the print out was the cheaper daily rate. We called the hotel when we realized the full amount was pending out of our account and told to call back if it posts. It posted the next day and we called back. We were then told to call after 3pm and speak with the Front Desk Manager who then told me I needed to deal with the General Manager Travis Mears and to do that email him. I emailed him that day, Tuesday, 11/28, waited 3 days with no response and emailed again on Friday, 12/1. He emailed me back later that day he was out of the office and would look into it on Monday, 12/4. Tuesday, 12/5 I emailed again looking for a resolution and nothing. I emailed again today, 12/8 and nothing. Apparently this GM is ignoring us, however, it is totally wrong to charge someone for a Handicap Room and then doesn't adjust the price when they didn't get it.

Only good thing is the nearby Walmart. Was home invaded and tortured at knife point here. Nicole housekeeper was disrespectful for nothing and corrianne at front desk more than miserable and incorrigible. Steve(front desk) was super nice as was one the blondish older front desk woman and the general manager was nice enough but happy to talk behind your back. It's sad it could be such a nice place but it seems they pick and choose who gets respect (much less hospitality)Air conditioner didn't work once in a month and they were told many times all in June with a good amount of 90°daysThey were paid way too well for what I got in the end

We highly recommend this Best Western stay, not sure what Allison is talking about but we loved it! Great spot in beautiful Bennington with lots of local eateries and you can't leave without seeing the historic covered bridge on Silk Rd, which front desk Steven was kind enough to tell us about. We can't remember being SO welcomed by a staff member, he was so engaging and accommodating! You'd be a great Hospitality trainer Steven! Rooms are clean, spacious and the pool was lovely!

It was a good deal for the price. Staff was friendly and the wifi was fast. The room was in good condition. I would stay here again.

Big spacious room, though might have been the biggest room there. Was quite and close to town and eating options and had a pool!

These rooms are very disgusting. Don't walk barefoot it or your feet will turn black I was by the pool, watching the housekeeping, they do not vacuum all they do is change the garbage and make the beds with the same dirty sheets.

Staff very friendly and provided lots of insight in this historic area. Monica (afternoon front desk) goes out of her way to assist you. Bed was comfy, room very clean.

Do not use this hotel for a hotel block!!! They require 100% attrition and charge 100% of the rooms not reserved. They will literally sue you if you don't pay them for their overpriced and subpar rooms. Meanwhile keep in mind that most hotel blocks are free. I was completely taken advantage of, everyone please learn from my mistake!!

Response to your statement. Reasons why potential guests should NOT stay here. After repeated (more than 10) requests for the manager, Travis Mears, to call me I realized that he wasn’t going to call. So I called Customer Relations and explained what happened and asked them to help. They contacted Travis and the story he told them was a TOTAL LIE. he said he called and spoke to me (NO) and that I got irate and hung up on him when he refused to refund my money. Also said a lot of other things that weren’t true. Did not speak to him so i couldn’t hang up on him. So, if you are thinking of staying here be aware that if anything goes wrong the manager is most likely to act like he did with me. No honesty, respect, consideration, concern, or any of the other values Best Western wants it’s guests to believe they follow. Beware. Suggestion for Travis, revisit training on how to treat guestsNoteworthy details: Room had no heat on a blizzard night. Woke up totally freezing. Tried to get the heat to work. Nothing. Went to front desk. Very nice. Took my name and and number and said the manager would call me soon. Sent a worker who turned on a backup heater for the last hour before I checked out. Manager never called. I called and left numerous messages which the front desk delivered to Travis, the manager. After more than a week I called and Travis picked up. Said he knew nothing of the situation (even though several people in the front desk assured me they left messages). Said he’d call me back in a half hour after checking it out.haven’t heard back yet and it’s 3 days later. Really bad when when the manager doesn’t do his job and completely avoids the customer. So I shouldn’t be surprised that the room was nonfunctional as poor performance starts at the top and works throughout the whole system.
