About Brattleboro Retreat
Based on the six reviews, the Brattleboro Retreat is a mental health hospital that has helped people with serious struggles, including suicidal thoughts, major depressive disorder, and substance use. Many reviewers say the staff is wonderful, caring, and compassionate, and that the group therapy and music groups are amazing. The setting is described as beautiful, right on a lake with huge windows and nature views, which was built intentionally to help people heal. However, the experience can be difficult. Some reviewers mention forced isolation, strict rules, and a scary isolation room. One person was discharged after three days for being "not the type of patient meant to be there." Another noted the kitchen sometimes forgets orders. The youth ward is sometimes used for placement of kids with bad home lives. Despite these problems, multiple reviewers say the Retreat saved their life or was the most helpful treatment they received. The common advice is that if a person is cooperative, participates in groups, and puts in the work, they will get better. The staff is there to help, and the living can be hard, but the place is a true treasure for mental health.

Osgood 2 always does its best to make me feel comfortable as a person with autistic spectrum disorder. I get great care when I'm at the Retreat.
