Opon hearing the owner's response I decided to edit this review and explain in detail the event that unfolded. On Tuesday I made a reservation for 1 night at the resort. I received an email shortly after stating it was confirmed. Then sometime after that another email from the resort came through that said it was canceled. THERE WAS NO PHONE CALL. I didn't notice the email because I went to bed to get ready for the 5 hr trip the following day. So fast forward to Thurs I went back into my emails at lunch to get address of resort. I then saw the canceled email. I call the resort and got the manager on duty and asked why I wasn't called to inform me of this. He replied he was sorry and I was understanding of this and did not belittle him in any way. He told me the owner would be calling me to see what he could do to help out. I RECEIVED NO PHONE CALL again. That is until I left the 1 star review at 7pm. This is when the owner finally reached out! After he saw my 1 star review! That's the facts here people. And his response of calling me out as a rude person to try to cover up this review. I ended up staying at jay resort for a little more money but great service and support.

I stayed four nights at Woodshed Lodge in early October. Their description is spot on, it's "old school" and I mean that in the best possible way. The young owners are dedicated to providing a great, low key experience. The room and common areas were spotless. Everything worked. Very accommodating to reasonable requests. I'd definitely stay again.
Bill had excellent suggestions for area hiking (my main interest) and his restaurant recommendations were excellent. I'll also mention that it's a quick trip to an easy Canadian border crossing, so bring your passport.

My husband and I just ended our stay at Woodshed, and we absolutely loved it!! It had everything we needed, cozy, warmth, and inviting. We also enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Haley and Owen were amazing and so kind,
Vermont was beautiful and inviting! We visited Burlington, Stowe and surrounding area. We can't wait to go back.

We called and booked a room several months in advance. We paid in full upfront. Got an email today saying they cancelled our reservation because they double booked us. They aren’t answering our phone calls so that we can clarify what happened or if there’s another room. It’s a small town with no where else to stay really so this is really disappointing.
Editing to add update: we were originally sent an email stating we were double booked due to errors with the online system. (We booked by phone.) they offered to give us a 25% discount if we come another night. Our travel dates aren’t flexible so that won’t work for us. I wrote this review where I made no false claims whatsoever, simply gave people a heads up that it may not be the most reliable with booking.
The business owner then emailed my husband asking him to take the review down because they need to maintain their 5 star rating. The business owner also responded to this review as you can see. He is accusing me of being someone who gives negative reviews of small business for fun. Anyone who looks at my reviews can see I simply share my own experience with a fair mix of good and bad. The business owner(s) then stated that it was actually canceled because of the storm that came through and attempted to make me look like a jerk for holding storm damage out of their control. But that was never communicated until after I wrote a public review. My husband and I did not respond to this email because we felt there was no positive way forward and it was a bit aggressive.
So a couple hours later one of the business owners found us both on our personal Facebooks and sent us a longer message even angrier where they used curse words and explained it’s been a hard year and they feel entitled to us removing the review so they can maintain 5 stars. Owner explained that I am “nasty and hurtful” that I “ruined their business reputation”, “kicked them in the gut when they were already down”, and that I did it all over one night being canceled that “didn’t ruin my winter” so there’s no reason for me to “exact revenge.” Their property looks beautiful and is in a place with steady winter sports tourism - so I’m sure that one bad review couldn’t possibly ruin a business reputation for a business that is so well loved, so I do not know why they feel they need to bully us into removing my review.
I’m continuing to not respond to them further at this point because I feel the way they are acting is very unprofessional and inappropriate. There’s a right way to reach out to people to ask them to reconsider a review and a wrong way. I have changed or updated reviews when asked respectfully to do so and if an update in the customer service led me to feel it was merited. But instead we have been getting sent multiple angry and unprofessional messages/emails in the middle of a work day simply because I dared to share that we had our booking canceled on Google reviews. At this point I am thankful we are not staying here because how quickly they spiraled and started calling me names does not sound like an environment I would find welcoming. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

I’ve stayed here twice now in the summertime. This is a simply magical property. It’s an older building but very comfortable to stay in and so much charm. I have two little boys and they love exploring around the pond & catching frogs. Karla and Bill are amazing caretakers - they continue to make updates all the time. The ‘Vermontinental’ breakfast is a highlight for me with fresh baked goodies and homemade granola. I look forward to returning year after year.

Nice spot just a little down the hill from Jay. The booking site was easy to use. The room and bathroom were very clean, including the shower. The bed was comfortable. Karla, the owner, was very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed the hot tub. The grounds include a bunch of chairs and fire areas, but it was too hot for us to be using those. The included continental breakfast had a good number of options. Karla said that they do weddings here, and I can see why. It's very lovely. I’ll have to come back some time.

Amazing experience at The Woodshed Lodge. Beautiful location, friendly host and great food. The lodge is full of games and books, not to mention the hot tub outside.

I have stayed here twice now in the winter and both times were superb! The lodge is cozy and welcoming, breakfast is delicious and the outdoor hot tub is a great way to feel spoiled after a day of skiing.Rooms: There are several rooms of different sizes - perfect for solo travelers or a couple, as well as larger groups of family and friends. All rooms have their own bathroom (one room has its bathroom down the hallway) and keypad locks for security.Nearby activities: Jay Peak, hiking trails, backcountry skiingFood & drinks: Homemade breakfast included with stay. There are first-come first-serve hot foods available and many more continental options as well. And the coffee is WAY BETTER than any hotel coffee I've ever had.Noteworthy details: There is an inn keeper who was a delight to talk to and she made some BOMB peanut butter banana bread for breakfast one morning. The outdoor hot tub is also a great amentiy and is especially fun in the winter months. There are a few different common areas that are great places to hang out, play board games (several are available) and meet other guests staying at the lodge.

This is a wonderful and quaint lodge near Jay Peak. I highly recommend. Our room had very comfortable beds, a large bathroom, ample blankets, and a nice view. The hot tub was hot and well maintained, perfect after a day out skiing or exploring. The hostess was very kind and had helpful local recommendations for dinner (the Belfry is a must). This is a very rural area, and you should expect a quiet evening. There is a common room with comfortable seating and a television. Good Internet. The dining room has snacks at all hours. And then there is the included hot breakfast - delicious rotating special with local ingredients, and a wide range of continental breakfast options. Very reasonable price. There is no better place to stay if you are going to Jay Peak.

Amazing place to spend a few nights if you’re skiing Jay Peak! Karla is a wonderful host and the building is only about a 5 minute drive from the mountain. We can’t say enough great things about this place, and are already planning our next trip back!
