I have been a loyal customer for seven years. When I deposited a US Treasury check, I was told by the branch manager that it would clear the next day because, of course, a US Treasury check has the funds available to clear the check. We needed those funds for the federal disaster emergency for which the check was written..After arranging our lives and work schedules and putting an inordinate amount of time and effort into solving this emergency for which the funds were designated, these wonderful people decided to RETROACTIVELY put a two-week "extended hold" on a US Treasury emergency check during an EMERGENCY!!!They told me they could not get an answer at the bank to confirm the funds at THE UNITED STATES TREASURY!!! It is this level of incompetence and lack of concern for their customers that makes me not recommend citizens bank.This is not the first SNAFU.So for 2 weeks they expect to not get any answer from the US TREASURY???? They made a mistake that affected our lives, and now they need to get on the phone every day and do what it takes to clear that check. How dare they have people arranging their lives around their incorrect information and then just expect us to eat it. It causes a chain reaction of destruction in people's lives.If you can't own up to and fix your own mistakes then you are not a professional or a decent human being. I think citizens bank is putting unnecessary holds on FEDERAL FUNDS during a DISASTER because they want to squeeze every last penny of interest from fellow American's disaster relief funds. Could they possibly be worse people?How would they respond if any of us wrote them a check, said it would clear, and then said OOOPSIE to the bank and made them wait for another 2 weeks because we were too lazy to make a phone call? I assure you that the bank would not tolerate the same behavior from their customers that they subject their customers to.Find a different bank. I should have joined a credit union instead.

Citizen Bank is unethical at the higher up manager level all the way down to the branch managers and tellers. They will lead you on for months over promising refunds, pass you on to the next person and lie about conversations that took place. When ready I will cancel all accounts and never do business with citizen bank again. All you have to do is read the other comments do you see everyone has the same opinion. NSB is by far the best bank in Vermont. Shop local with NSB!

I'm very pleasantly surprised at the professional and personable staff at this bank. I have accounts at three other banks/credit unions and none compare to the folks here. I have closed two of my other accounts and will be using Citizens as my primary financial institution. Major kudos to the staff!!!

Citizens is a horrible bank1 If you write your kid a check for his /her birthday they will charge 7 dollars for them to cash it, more if it over a hunderd plus your fingerprints!
