We stayed here the night of our wedding after getting married a mile up the road. The room was big and cozy and they left the cutest bag for us with fresh made cookies, magnet, book and glasses. It was a really nice touch! We would stay again.

We had a wonderful experience here Aug 4-6. The owner went over the top to make us feel welcome and the staff was awesome too. Rooms are clean, and smell wonderful.
After chatting with the owner, I realized why the Frost Tavern is closed for now: the owner is himself an incredible cook, and his standards are very high. He continues to organize a wonderful continental breakfast. As good as I've had in downtown Boston. I hope in the future he can find cooking staff that can follow in his footsteps, and re-open. But in the meantime, you can still enjoy his breakfasts, pastries, and there are restaurants in the area.
The lake access is awesome too, and they have kayaks and canoes for use by the guests. We paddled across the lake and it was a highlight of our trip.
Can't wait to return.

Super Cozy place! I was only here a night but it was very pleasant. The local hiking trails are gorgeous!!
Ms. Hillary was so pleasant and kind, and the late check in instructions were easy to follow.
The hotel reminded me of going to your grandparents, and i mean that in a good way. It feels like you can relax here and get away from it all.
Rooms were very comfortable

Got a beautiful room (Governor) on the second floor that had great views of the lake. Unfortunately, the AC wasn't working, and the staff was more than apologetic and moved us to a better room the next day as they were full that night. The Weathervane room is the room to reserve. It has a large sitting area, 2-person hot tub, and a respectable bathroom, nice big bedroom and a small pantry. The rooms were clean, staff went out of their way to accommodate all our requests and extremely friendly. Great place to stay on the water for the area. They have kayaks for guests and cottages right on the water with their own private docks. Continental breakfast had many selections to choose. We will be back.....

Beautiful place, Wonderful services very attentive. Gorgeous views from the main building. Amazing decor and common room.
Lovely diverse continental breakfast.
Rooms: Spacious room, very comfortable and minimalist. Had a very nice jacuzzi tub in large bathroom.
Food and drinks: The in house restaurant was not open, but would like to try it out if open in the future. Nearby restaurants were very nice. But a bit of drive around to get to other locations but pretty good choices

When one thinks of a Vermont in on a lake in a remote and quiet area, this is what most envision as the ideal place to escape to.

Absolutely wonderful place. Spotless and a definite must go back. The scenery was spectacular, they are pet friendly. I was just sorry that we couldn't dine at The Robert Frost Tavern as it was closed due to being short of help.Nearby activities: Swimming, boating and fishing. Lake Willoughby is so beautiful with the foliage.Food & drinks: Unfortunately, the Robert Frost Tavern was closed for the season due to being short of help.

Great Stay! Wonderful location on the lake. We had fun using the kayaks / canoe on the lake. Home made muffins are lovely. The kids enjoy playing ping pong in the basement. The beds/room were cosy. We hope to come back soon!

The WilloghVale is a mediocre inn to stay at. I stayed with my family in several rooms for my brother and his partner’s wedding weekend, and there were several problems that just didn’t justify the very high cost of a mediocre place to stay. Having lived in big cities, $200 a night gets you a pretty good hotel - this felt more like a motel than anything.1. The “continental breakfast” consisted solely of store bought bagels, muffins, and cereal. Very lackluster breakfast.2. The shower head and shower water pressure in our room was awful - in combination with a tiny shower space, it made for an uncomfortable shower.3. The check in process is very insecure after hours - for guests who check in after the front desk is available (~6pm), they only leave a key in an envelope and TAPE IT to the front door where anyone can take it, VERY insecure and lot very trust inspiring4. The inn restaurant and bar was closed. This was one of the main draws to this place when we booked and it was unexpectedly closed. We were looking forward to patronizing the bar in the evenings as a place to unwind, but it was “closed for the season”5. We needed access to our room until 2pm the second day we stayed there, and they informed us it was too late to have our rooms cleaned/beds made. Very unfortunate that an expensive inn doesn’t have the capacity to clean a room after 2pm. When they did have the chance to make the beds, they simply folded the sheets and covers over the bed, rather than making them with fresh sheets.6. My brother and his wife stayed in one of the cottages, which seemed to be nicer than my stay. However. The deck showed serious signs of settling and at some times felt unsafe to sit on (based on the paint job on the siding the deck had settled ~3 inches)7. If you have guests staying both at the inn and the cottages (which I will add was confusing to book and to tell the difference aside from price), they are across the street from eachother - there is no crosswalk, no signs, and poor visibility for the cars on this road. Each time crossing felt very unsafe.Overall I would not stay here again due to the cost out of proportion to the amenities. Find some place cheaper even if it means staying outside of Willoughbee.

We have been coming to Willoughby Valve to enjoy its warmth and tranquility for ten years now. Although the restaurant has changed, its quality is still good.

Rooms: Beautiful, clean, and spacious rooms with nice cabin-like decor. Went for a nice weekend away with the husband and was a great place to relax!
Nearby activities: The Gap restaurant is only 5 seconds down the road and it was perfect for food and drinks nearby the Inn since their Tavern wasn't open.
