I'm a big believer in supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, my interaction with Mann and Machine was infuriating. The astronomical fees that they charged me for standard services were grossly out of line with the market. In other words, they charged me more than could reasonably be expected for the work. I wasn't expecting this type of treatment from a local shop and I am disappointed and feel ripped off. The general attitude of the staff person I spoke with was unprofessional and reflected contempt for me as a customer. I would not return to this shop!

I’ve been coming here since moving to Richmond a year ago, and they have continued to provide awesome service. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful with any questions I’ve had. I trust my car at this auto shop and am very fortunate that I live less than 10 minutes away. Thank you for keeping my car working M&M!

I brought my Chevy Volt to Mann & Machine today due to a 12 volt battery fault message I was getting. They brought it in as they opened and within an hour Heidi brought me up to tell me the car was fixed. I had come in having a good feeling about this car service center and I was overjoyed to find out my instincts were well founded. They explained that it was a loose connection and charged me for an hour of service. Their Hybrid/EV certified technician Kyle listened to the concerns I had, identified the problem and promptly fixed it. Nice, family run business that understands how to keep people coming back. Honest, reliable car care. What more can a customer ask for?! Thanks Mann & Machine!!

Hi Stephanie. We are sorry that you had a bad experience here but understand why. We agreed with you that it was high after the fact which is why we sent you an 80.00 check back after our phone conversation.We also sent back money for another VW oil change because we thought that would only be fair. We realize now that particular VW oil change was too high due to our oil pricing. We have shopped around for a more competitive oil in bulk with VW specs to bring our oil changes down. We also realize that Walmart is a national chain with a huge amount of buying power which is why they are able to charge the prices they do. We were also willing to fill your DEF fluid for free when you expressed your concerns to me over the phone. I checked our local auto parts dealer and as of right now list on a gallon of window wash is 7.42. As for the snowstorm comment I wish I could control the weather but what I was implying was you could choose the day you wanted to come in. I wouldn't expect anyone to drive during a snow storm. Again I apologize for the price on the oil change and have learned a valuable lesson from it Pete

This was the most expensive oil change I’ve ever had in my life. At the VW dealership I’d ordinarily pay $100 max with complimentary windshield wiper fluid for my VW Golf TDI.At other places $80, tops.Mann & Machine charged me $181 for an oil change and filter. $85 of that was just for the full synthetic oil. When I pointed out how unreasonable that was they said “they are working on sourcing the oil from other places”.5 quarts of Full Synthetic oil from Walmart is $35.On top of the ridiculous up charge on oil, they charged me $7 for windshield wiper fluid I didn’t ask for and an hour of labor for an oil change (most places can manage an oil change in 30-45 minutes).When I called about the oil change I also asked for them to top off the Ad Blue/DEF fluid. They confirmed they would but (surprise) they had not. They told me to come back the next day (during a snowstorm) and they’d do it.These prices are predatory and totally unreasonable. As a business, if you’ve heard from multiple people your oil prices are way too high you should probably warn people you’re about to charge them more than double for routine maintenance.The $7 for windshield wiper fluid was just salt in the wound. Mann & Machine has lost my business and my trust.

Honest, great results. Peter and team are intent on getting the job done right and making sure your car is safe. At the same time, prices are reasonable and there is no push to sell you anything you don't need. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately we felt the staff at Mann & Machine weren't very honest or helpful with the work we needed done. They are also really expensive! We love supporting our town's businesses but in this case we won't be going back.
