Worth it to have the best Veterinarian I've had in over 40 years...and I've seen many. “We've been with River Cove now for over 39 years! Many beloved dogs through thick and thin including cancer, vestibular and other less critical issues. We were there back when Dr Ellis was the sole Doctor (and original owner) at this hospital, ...in its infancy. We've stayed with them all through their growth, while adding staff and new Doctors and new protocols and changes through new owners. We're still there! The staff is very accommodating, supportive and prompt to reply when we have issues and questions! They have text capability on their primary phone number! Nice, no missed voice messages and need to call back! We've seen new staff and new doctors there in an ever-changing animal hospital, yet, whoever is at the counter or replying via text, ...the support for pet and client has never diminished at all. It is always A+. Like many businesses now, they have policies that I am fine with in these ever changing times and do be aware that pet care now is very expensive, no matter where you go for quality care. Be prepared for that. Always good vibes at River Cove.........if they can take you on as a client, I highly suggest you bring your pet to them. they will not let you down. “After a horrendous experience with a different local vet, I called this practice and they were nothing but welcoming and professional. They happily added my dogs to the patient list and I was super comfortable speaking with the person on the phone. She seemed to really care, set my account up quickly and even sent me a link to an app they they use to request an appointment, med refill, etc! I am super excited for my 1st visit in person!!”

“I recently had to put my thirteen year old blood red corn snake down. An x-ray showed he had a cancerous tumor. Essex vet informed me surgery would be difficult and expensive and would require a referral to an outside specialist. Even with the surgery, survival was not guaranteed.
I could not have asked for a more caring and supportive team to help me through this process. I highly recommend this practice, particularly if you have reptiles. They are one of the only facilities in Vermont capable of providing care to injured or sick reptiles/exotic animals. No conflicts with scheduling, very accommodating. I was impressed with the cost of their services. They were very fair.”
