Last night I went to the Bar Harbor Bank to withdraw funds on the ATM machine. The funds never came out. This morning an audit was done and it was found that the funds were not dispersed. The bank has the funds ( 500.00). I paid a 3.50 transaction fee. However in a conversation with the branch manager they cannot give me the funds. After being hung up on, and my calls not answered another phone was used ( some friends were in the room and offered another phone) and the call was answered. Again I was told thee was nothing I could do. A dispute needed to be filed with my bank who would contact their bank. A process that could take up to 45 days.REALLY? It was verified that they had an extra 500.00 in the audit. I have my bank receipts. I paid a fee to use their service. They did not deliver. Someone is making interest on the 500.00 not received although it was deducted from my account and they (Bar Harbor) has the funds. A reason I do not use bar Harbor anymore. They are more about money in their pocket than treating the consumer with honesty and respect.Update: So while the bank has my money they hide behind a "you need to file a claim". Meanwhile, 500.00 is earning the bank interest. Not professional, the way the bank has handled this. The State has intervened and asked the bank "The bank has been asked to review the matter as quickly as possible and if feasible by the end of today." A bank that cannot give money to a customer that the customer has paid to receive through a paid service (ATM or Automatic Teller) is defrauding the consumer. This should be a warning to any potential consumer of this bank as maybe they are financially unsound. This is day 2. If the bank wants to sign a loan agreement I will consider a loan with interest and processing fees etc.PS. The key phrase is "Our ATM machine". = your responsibility to make this right. You try to unburden your responsibility onto my bank which did not have a faulty machine. How many businesses can get away with this?Day 3: I wonder how long it would take for Bar Harbor to collect if they had made the error in my favor: Lets say the ATM machine had dispensed 1000. instead of nothing. The 500.00 in my favor. What if I told them they needed to file a dispute and wait 10-45 days to get a resolution. How much would they charge me and how soon would they file and send demand notices.

Stay away from this bank. Bad mojo. Unfriendly. Opened my account at North Country CU. Great people there. Friendly and helpful.

Opens late and closes early. Not good for business. Employees are underexperienced and not personal
