Make sure that you fill the gas tank up prior to returning your rental vehicle so that Avis can go ahead and charge you $68.53 for 'fuel service' anyway. What a load.

2nd rental I am in with 24 hours with mechanical issues. Yesterday I had to turn around and drive back 45 minutes to switch out a car with a flap at bottom of car hanging off. The reps are great but who is doing maintenance? Get into second car forget about the fact that I'm getting home late in the dark in the sticks and Vermont after driving 50 minutes home. There's 2 more lights on the dashboard for warning. Look I don't have time to go back and forth with returning Avis rentals when I have to work which is why I need these cars to travel. I tried calling nobody answers. Nobody answers Avis phones anymore at the locations. When I got back to the Avis location by the way in Burlington to switch the car out please keep in mind that the cars are in the lot but the counter is in the airport so I had to leave the groceries that I got in the car go over the tunnel downstairs into the airport to make a report and the guy came back with me to get my belongings out. All the time wasted. Today when I start heading out, The check engine light goes on so now that's 3 lights altogether on the car and I have to drive. Do you think anybody at any Avis location picked up the phone ? To let me know if they had a car that was available for me to switch out because I have nothing better to do but drive back and forth to Avis.I'm so tired of dealing with Avis's perpetual issues I don't know what's wrong with this company if it's going out of business soon but they have definitely fallen off the chart. I'm in the car now in New Hampshire and there's no locations picking up the phones so what am I supposed to do ? Their call centers are overseas. So the reps don't have as much ability to help out because nobody at the locations are answering or they're all closed so what does a person do when they're in of Avis car rental and the car is dysfunctioning? So unsettling and time consuming.I am a corporate Preferred member, don't bother with this program. You have to fight for your rewards and now the prices are not different from regular rental reservations.Can someone from this location please contact me with what to do with this car.

Worked well, no problems. They gave us a ram 1500 instead of a compact due to wanting to shift it south. Works for me.

Avis are always my favorite choice when need to rent a car, because they provide high quality service, very affordable prices and professional stuff.I’m Avis customer for many years and never got disappointed.???

We booked an Avis rental two weeks in advance - a one-way rental to Washington DC (almost 600 miles away) and when we went to pick up the car from BTV airport at 9am, the only car Avis had was an EV with a range of 150 miles! We were told we “should be able to make it” down to Albany NY to a supercharger or to exchange the car to a regular gas or hybrid vehicle, but as it’s currently -10degrees C (13F) outside, we’re not even convinced the EV will make it that far. What a debacle! We have work and law school in DC tomorrow morning and are now scrabbling (in ski season (to find a last-minute rental from an alternative company - actually none are available - so we are now looking for one-way flights for us and trying to find a friend or family driving to DC or NYC in a week or so for the dog. AVIS - NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RISK BOOKING WITH YOU- TERRIBLE, IN FACT ZERO SERVICE!!! Grrrrr…

Horrible! The car jockeys smoke weed all day in the garage, then sleep in the cars and the cars wreak of weed and it doesn't go away. Had a car for a week and rented a 2nd car for my sister and both our vehicles stank. Don't get pulled over by the cops because they will automatically think you have weed or have been smoking and driving.

I reserved a standard SUV for a 2 week trip out of state. Customer service was great, I checked in at the desk and had a set of car keys within 10 minutes. When I went to the car, I checked for damage and checked the tires, the tires were bald like others have said. I returned to the check in desk and let the agent there know, he immediately gave me a different vehicle. I did the same walk around and the 2nd vehicle was in way better shape and didn’t have worn out tires. It was clean inside and they left an ice scraper/snow brush inside (because it’s winter in Vermont). We returned the vehicle and I got a call a couple hours after from them letting me know we left our kid’s ipad in the car. He offered to ship it to us but I opted to just go back and pick it up. My only complaint is that whoever maintenances the vehicles needs to do better with checking the vehicles to make sure everything is in acceptable working order, especially tires. Overall, we were happy with our experience and will continue renting from Avis.

Poor. Unsafe cars. I’ve returned multiple vehicles because tires are bald. The last one had the steel belts visible. Safety has gone out the window. Looking into another car rental agency after being a preferred member for 20 years.

Burlington, Vermont.Month of November … IS WINTER … SNOW TIME.This car had neither a snow brush nor a single drop of windshield washer.At my expense I bought a snow brush and a gallon of windshield washer witch went fully into the reservoir.

Very unfriendly attendant at desk. seemed bored and yet irritated by my arrival for pick up. Vehicle keys handed to me to pick up car in parking lot. dark lot so didn't see all the damage and no attendant to come check with me before departure. Not a good ambassador of Avis.

Needed car wash. Found a small crack in windshield. Called to report it, but wasn't on report at drop-off. Smelled exhaust fumes during trip, reported at drop off. Pick up and drop off was very easy and employees very nice.

The car I received had bad brakes which I found out on the highway. The car would shake when the brakes were applied. Also, it had something plastic hanging from the under carriage. This was not realized until I drove the the hotel parking garage. The Valet was the person that told me what the scraping sound was coming from. If I’d had time in my schedule to return the car, I would’ve done so.

Was charged an additional $102 on a $139 two-day rental for returning the car less than two hours late in Burlington, Vermont. Customer service wouldn't pro-rate. The car was fine, but this company will totally take advantage of you in an unreasonable way if you're a minute late on the return.

When arriving was told they didn’t have time to set up Avis preferred rentals so I had to wait in line for 20 minutes, the desk person was rude, and when I received a car it turned out to be dirty. My rental was for 8 days and I returned it when the original reservation said (9/22/23). I handed the keys to the woman at the desk, asked if there was anything else I needed to do and she said no. Today, on 10/14/23, I get an email and charge for 4x the price that states the car was returned this morning. Spent 30 minutes on hold waiting to speak to someone at Avis customer service who was able to refund the charge. I have filed a formal complaint to Avis and am leaving this review so people know, if they have an option, go with any other rental car company at this location.
