Not every place in Google needs to be a place to eat or lodge, American landscapes and pioneer industry long left behind are worthwhile visits and topics of conversation. The Gold Brook Covered Bridge is a simple but prominent staple in the Vermont country side. Settlers built covered bridges because they tended to withstand the weather much better than an open bridge. Some stood five times longer, needing less repair and upkeep. There is plenty of architectural consideration into these early bridges. Now this one has a ghost story that goes with it. I think it’s largely a tourist draw, which is sadly unnecessary. This bridge does not need a jilted bride trope to be an interesting location. You can see from picture number one - it has its own calling to majesty.

Great place to visit, not too spooky. The bridge itself is still in good condition.

I love this place, completely a hidden gem, if you drive through the bridge then you can park at the lot on left side, you will feel in your own world. There is a sign explaining few history and of course it’s famous for “Emily’s Bridge”. It is said the ghost Emily was seen then Emily’s bridge and Gold Brook Covered Bridge is the same place.

A pretty covered bridge right outside of Stowe. Take time to walk down the side and enjoy the view from there. Not as busy and a different perspective.

We google searched “covered bridges near Stowe” found this one easily. The windy roads and fall color were marvelous.

We visited this bridge because it was reported to be haunted. Beautiful location. Easy to access. Popular among tourists.

You can get there on your own, and there is a good area to park just across the bridge so you can get out and look around. However, be aware that there are some locals that don't appreciate anyone visiting the bridge. Even though we were safely out of the right of way, we had one local that decided to stop while driving across the bridge to inform all of us that "this is main roadway that locals use" and that we were "in the way." Thankfully, another local was there giving a tour to a small group and apologized for the driver's unwelcoming attitude, but the incident did taint the experience.

Beautiful Covered Bridge in Stowe. Worth taking a few minutes to park and walk around . Several viewpoints available. You can walk down the hill to get closer to the water and view the underneath of the bridge as well. Easy Access. However, plan to hike down the hill for even more gorgeous views of the stream & bridge.
