Lovely spot to stay that is close to the slopes! The rooms are cozy and comfortable. It is easy to enter and exit the lodge with all your ski gear. There is also a sauna, hot tub, and pool that were such a relief after a long ski day.Breakfast is complimentary and there is a decent selection of options. We also appreciated that there was a large dining room with a fireplace, coffee/hot water and microwave 24 hrs a day. This meant that we could eat here anytime in the evening as well and it was a nice place to work when needed. Another small and underrated amenity is the water fountain next to the ice machine. The bus stop for green mountain transit is directly in front of the lodge, which made getting to the ski resort very easy. Overall we had an awesome experience and definitely recommend!

Our stay was fantastic. Mike and Shannon were brilliant in ensuring our stay was perfect and accommodations were met. The rooms were clean, beds are very comfortable, and had everything you’d expect. The free breakfast in the morning was quick, tasty, and filling and got us fueled up for our three days of skiing. The hot tub and sauna were relaxing after a long day of skiing. I highly recommend staying here as the owners and staff made every effort to go above and beyond. 5/5 stars and will definitely come back again.

If you’re looking for an affordable, clean, convenient place to call home during your time in Stowe, highly recommend. We wanted a place close to skiing at Stowe with a flexible cancellation policy. Our room was small and not “modern” but clean, comfortable and quiet. The free breakfast was perfect for a quick & hot bite before a day of skiing. The kids had fun in the indoor pool while my husband and I enjoyed the hot tub and sauna (helped when we had some unfortunate rain instead of snow). Easy access to everything, free shuttle to stowe mountain resort has a pick up/drop off right out front (a convenient alternative to driving to the mountain). Entire staff were extremely attentive, friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

Perfect stay! Spotless place, cozy rustic super clean rooms, I have never seen a bathroom in a hotel this spotless! Beds very comfortable, clean.Perfectly maintained clean pool, hot tub and sauna ( they were our sanctuary after days of skiing in misty rain) Breakfast is included ( totally unexpected nice surprise) it’s fresh, with good simple selections: what a convenience!Location is beyond perfect, 5 minutes drive to the slopes, almost everything else is MUCH further. Owners go above and beyond, we arrived Christmas Day in the evening: there was a sign posted with restaurants which were open in the area and the times they were open until. Thank you for your hospitality, we will be back!

We had an exceptional stay! Fear not, as this hotel offers impeccable service, very clean rooms, and an outstanding pool paired with a delightful hot tub. I Highly recommend this for a thoroughly relaxing experience for an old school inn.

*Safety Alert* upon arriving in our room, we attempted to lock the dead bolt and despite valiant efforts, the dead bolt is off centered and impossible to lock. We then turned to an adjoining room door and noticed it was also unlocked as with main door we tried, and we were unable to lock it due to it being off centered. We were unaware at that time if that room was occupied as we arrived in the dark. The next morning, we looked over at the window to determine if it was indeed occupied. We noticed the window was open with a fan and saw a washer/drier. Which was assumed that was the laundry room front desk informed us of. Later that afternoon, we stopped back in our room and there were guest doing their laundry, which was somewhat disruptive because of the slamming door. No big deal, as we were on our way out anyways. Flash forward to the next day (last day in Stowe), we decided to go ahead and start a load of laundry before our trip back. Using OUR room key for entry into the laundry room, we began a load and went back to relax in our lawn chairs. As we exited the door to go back to our room, the hotel manager got visibly upset and asked us what we were doing in there. We stated we had started a load of laundry and he started to raise his voice and said he couldn’t have us in there. It was made a point that we saw earlier that guest were using this room, so we assumed it was the laundry room as OUR key WORKED on the lock. Which comes into question, what other door does it work on. Does it work on every door? Is anyone truly safe with their key/lock? Moving forward, we apologized repeatedly as the manager continued to scold us like children, making us feel completely unwelcome and unsafe. We sat in our room after his first meltdown in complete silence as we were in shock to what just happened. An innocent mistake absolutely ruined our last day of your weekend trip. He pulled our laundry out of the washer, still filled with soap, and told us to hang it in our room. Laundry pods were stuck in the clothes and I had to use a sink to scrub the detergent off. Keep in mind, no signage was on door stating the room was off limits to guest. The next morning, he decided to take our advise and put a sign on the door. Our last night was uncomfortable, uneasy, and a huge shock that someone, who paid a pretty penny, was treated as a supposed “guest” of the hotel.Let me go back to why the lawn chairs were in our room… This specific room was booked so we could enjoy the amenities of having an actual “living room” when we wanted to just relax. The couch was as stiff as a board and there was no position in which you could get comfortable. We finally decided to bring the porch chairs in to have some level of “comfort”.We definitely plan on reporting this incident to insure the safety of others traveling that are unaware that your key may just work on any door and there is no way to lock your dead bolt to stop it.Safety: Key seems to work on every door, dead bolts don’t lock, adjoining room door did not lock.

I loved everything about it. We were in town for the Leaf Peepers half marathon. The beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. The pool, along with the sauna and hot tub, was by far the cleanest that I have experienced. I will definitely stay there again, if ever in the area.

Overall, it's a decent place to stay in a budget but do not have high expectations.Pros: The staff was friendly, and it's located pretty centrally to the ski areas and restaurantsCons: Out room stunk like old cigarettes, so much that my friend and I were calling it the "Newport Suite" (it also had a moldy smell. I informed the front desk upon checkout). The free breakfast is terrible, I would not rely on it as a viable food option. The hot tub was constantly occupied, which isn't necessarily the hotels fault but was just really annoying. In closing: Stay here for the price, and if you just need a place to sleep and don't plan on hanging around. If you're looking for a more inclusive resort experience, this is not the place

Honestly, I have never been treated so poorly as a guest and I travel for a living. You can read the review my daughter left above and see the response from the manager. He absolutely berated me like a child for an honest mistake that I repeatedly apologized for. He absolutely did raise his voice because my daughter could hear everything he said from our room. The housekeeping closet that he describes is indeed a room, right next to the one we stayed in. There were no signs that stated anything about it being for staff only. I say this too, because we indeed saw guests doing their laundry the prior day in the same location. He can say they were staff all he wants, but I know what I saw. Also, the fact that my room key ? opened that door makes me highly question what other doors have the same exact key. I paid $400 per night to stay in this old, rundown hotel. I highly doubt I would be upset over paying whatever it cost to use the other laundry facility that was never shown to me. I would have been happy to move my clothes if I weren’t scolded like a child and made to feel extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. The way this management handled the situation was absolutely absurd. I’m saddened because he ruined the final evening of our girls trip and that’s time that we consider very precious. Take from this what you will….but please be cautious if you choose to stay here. Photo added for our seating arrangements due to rock hard couch.

Great budget lodge. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into this place. Breakfast was decent, facilities are great, location excellent, and staff were really friendly and welcoming. Rooms however were really dusty. The bathroom was clean, but the bedroom was covered in a thick layer of dust. Headboards, skirting boards, lamps, TV and curtains were all really dusty.

We stayed for a few days and everything was pleasant. Nothing fancy about the place but nice room and nice staff. Oddly enough we really enjoyed the takeout breakfast they made to order for you. The babbling stream at the rear of the property is pure mountain bliss.

If you are looking for a super-clean, comfortable place to stay that won't break the bank, look no further than Northern Lights Lodge. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the room/bathroom and equally impressed with the indoor swimming pool (and hot tub, and sauna) and the outdoor swimming pool. Breakfast was delicious (had the scrambled eggs) and served very promptly with big smiles. It is located at the very top of the Stowe Recreation Path which made it particularly wonderful for me as riding that path was a big part of my vacation plans. They even had one of those nifty water dispensers you only find in airports available with the ice machine - for those of us who really prefer to refill our own containers vs. buying individual servings of bottled water, this was a huge plus. I had the pleasure of interacting with Shannon, one of the proprietors, who could not have been friendlier or more helpful - just delightful. Next time I go to Stowe, Northern Lights will be my number one choice.

5 ✨ for an awesome breakfast. Hot breakfast in takeout style. Everything they served was freshly made. They do have a well decorated bar with table and chairs to eat your breakfast. The pool, hot tub and sauna are also nice if you hit a rainy day on vacation. There is no restaurant in the lounge but there are many within 6 min of drive.
