The best tomatoes I've had in years. And I am 70. Thank you?

Tomatoes have always been delicious but this years crop is touch skinned and mostly seeds. I've gotten both the $5 bag and the Little Guys and my critique stands for both. Disappointed. Though I have used the seeds to grow my own (indoors over the winter) and they are delicious.

I just learned that the heirloom tomatoes that I had been purchasing every week from FreshDirect (serving Long Island, NY) were sourced from here. I don’t know how they were available from February to late April (greenhouses, I expect, but they must be huge!); FD has not had them since, and I have written, tweeted, contacted them in every way possible. Outside they are seasonal—but then why were they available in winter? Wouldn’t greenhouse growing work in spring and early summer? Anyway, they are the absolute best bar none. Every delivery (and I ordered at least 5 or 6 every week, usually more—I would eat them at every meal every day if I could get them) would arrive, plastering a huge grin on my face. Dark red-purple beauties ranging in size from medium to gigantic, all perfect, all so flavorful beyond what words can describe. I wish I could show you; better yet, I wish all of you could bite into one right this moment.

Doesn't get more local and organic than this: tomatoes grown in rich soil in a greenhouse almost all year long. Even though there's plenty of farmland all around, in this plot along the Connecticut River, most of the action happens in a large greenhouse which you can view from the outside when driving in. And it's all about tomatoes and the soil in which they're grown - not hydroponic systems. This allows the tomatoes to attain maximum flavor and nutrition. It's a very simple operation, right down to the self-serve indoor stand where you pay on an honor basis. If you haven't noticed Long Wind's tomatoes at your local market and you're passing through the area, then this is worth checking out for something truly fresh and local.

Long Wind Farm tomatoes are a taste of summer.. in the middle of January! Stunning color and freshness, with a flavor that rivals the ones I grown myself in the summertime. A tasty reprieve in the depths of winter.

I bought the Little Guys tomatoes at Whole Foods in Hingham, MA. They are grown in organic soil and taste great! The only time I had tomatoes that tasted this good was when I grew them in my own garden. I will definitely be buying these again.

After stopping yesterday afternoon and picking up tomatoes for our deli/cafe business, we were met by the incredibly rude owner, when we were trying to simply introduce ourselves. All we were after was some signage to promote their business, needless to say we will NOT be carrying Long Wind Farm tomatoes, nor will we promote this business. Good business isn't run by rudeness.
