Parking lot was filthy, inside the store was decent. Staff were hurried, looked confused, and lacked common courtesy.

On the morning of July 4th I entered the store. I'm usually greeted by Jimmy in the produce department. For over 20 years this exemplary employee has asked if I needed help finding something or has asked if his cart was in the way of my shopping, or gone to the back to see if there was an item I couldn't find. That was not the case on July 4th at approximately 7:30am. Instead I was subjected to having to listen to a "Sara" and a "Chelsey" complain about other employees.Chelsey wasn't working. Just talking. At least Sara was stocking. I had many items to get. I wasn't greeted or asked if I needed help. Instead I felt as though I was eavesdropping and it was extremely uncomfortable. They were not whispering by any means. This went on for 10 minutes. Something about a guy named Scott and Chelsey having moved from the Ludlow Store and yada yada. The conversation then continued down in the deli area with Katie. (I've been subjected to having to listen to Katie and Flo in the early Sunday morning hours in the bakery and deli area as well. Just never complained).Skip to the milk and cheese area. An older woman with a mask and long hair is complaining to a customer about only having an hour to fulfill the online pick up orders. She was complaining about not having enough time and that management didn't understand. While I had heard enough of hearing the complaining, I did feel for this gal. I've seen her before and she's a hard worker. It made me wonder why Chelsey couldn't have been pitching in. Checkout was fine as always. Rob in the meat department is more than helpful, always.I called the following day to ask who the manager of the store was since they are changed so often. Rebecca answered and to my surprise, I was told it was Sara. I then asked who Sara's supervisor was or for the district managers name. Rebecca became rude, would not give me the name, wanted to know why, and who I was.I'm a paying customer for over 24 years Rebecca. That's who I am. She then asked if I wanted to speak to Sara, put me on hold for 10 minutes and transferred me directly to Sara's voicemail.I would like a response to this in writing.Deb Baringer215 VT, Rt22aPanton, VT 05491.I am going to the Corporate office in MA as well. In general, the average employees at this store are wonderful and hard working, however some of the female supervisors and managers are not.Sincerely,Deb Baringer

The employees are all very nice, which is the reason for the extra star, but this is one of the worst grocery stores I have been in, and I have been in many as a mom with grown children. Fruit flies all over the produce in warmer months, empty shelves, TERRIBLE meat selection with poorly cut and wrapped meats, and incredibly expensive. This is unfair for the residents of the area where this is the ONLY grocery store for miles. Do better Shaw’s.

This is my home towns only "true" grocery store. And I HATE THIS SHAWS! Some of the staff are friendly and helpful! But the majority of the staff a person deals with on a regular shopping trip ruin it!!! Most of the front staff members are not friendly!!! My husband and I went through checkout last week, and the boy didn't even tell me the total of my order!! He was MUTE the whole time!! I go to this store atleast once a week at different times of the day, and most of the time, these people act like they HATE their jobs! They act like checking out your groceries is an inconvenience to them! I've been in there and waited at the register a few minutes while the clerks clearly knew I was there but continued to show the other what someone had posted on their Facebook page!!! Other times, I've been in there, and the checkout lines wrapped around the store past the egg fridge to yogurts!!!! With only 2 of the 6 or so registers open!!! AND This was a SATURDAY!!! This is an obvious day a grocery store would be busy!! And the the staff was there!!! I saw people who I've seen checking out customers before in aisle "stocking shelves." I put that in quotes because they weren't stocking shelves when I was watching them. But they were standing in front of the shelf with a cart full of the product to put on the shelf. Why were they not called up to run a register when the wait line was over a half hour wait and wrapped around the store??? MOVING ON TO THE STORE ITSELF.... . The SELECTION IS POOR!!! DONT EXPECT TO FIND EVERYTHING YOUR LOOKING FOR! You may only have one brand name, choice, size, and flavor! Otherwise, it's store brand, and you really have to be selective with what you buy for store brand because some of it's just tastes horrible! Like box Mac and cheese, canned foods...

Not all Shaws are created equal. This one is dirty. Poorly staffed. Visual Merchandising obviously done by an amateur (they literally have hats, tshirts and snack food loaded in a broken down cold case in the dairy section?!?)And the layout of the store changed ever so often to make it hard to find the simplest of products.I fight hard to not have to shop here and find myself driving to Shelburne or Middlebury to do 95% of my grocery shopping

They never have more than one slow register open. Whilst multiple employees just stand and watch the lines grow. If there was ever a case gor personal checkout this place is one.

Plenty of grocery goods here, pleasant cashiers, good selection of snow removal items, parking is good, and lines move quickly. Some issues include very poor restroom condition - too far into the back along a difficult path and the stalls are ZERO handicap accessible for wheelchair users; mildly handicapped users would still have difficulty as there are ZERO accommodations installed, such as grip bars. Perhaps the owners do not wish for handicapped individuals to frequent their stores (every one of the 6 I visited had same or similar issues). Great savings program if you become a member.

I have been going to shaw's and only shaw's since they came to Vermont and always had good experiences until I went in with rolled coins with my name address and phone number written on them. I was told they would not take change. When I said it was money I was asked to empty the rolls out and count them (45 dollars in nickels, dimes and quarters ) in line never in my life have I ever been so embarrassed.

Only grocery store in town and they gouge their prices as a result. Many products are as much as 50% more expensive than at a grocery store in the next town. Shame on them for the blatant greed.
