Mad River Glen Cooperative, established in 1948 with its iconic Single Chair, is a unique ski area focused on sport rather than profit. It features the most challenging and diverse ski terrain in New England, designed to follow the mountain’s natural contours. Skiers can enjoy a vertical drop of 2,037 feet, with expert trails that offer no run-outs, while also accommodating families with plenty of blue and green trails. The mountain is celebrated for its excellent conditions, particularly on powder days when soft, fresh snow remains untouched longer than at other resorts. Visitors appreciate the friendly atmosphere, good food, and the homey vibe of the area. While the challenging black runs can test even the most skilled skiers, there are enough easier trails for everyone to enjoy. Mad River Glen is a special place for many, creating cherished memories for families and friends. The on-site Stark’s Pub and General Store provide a cozy spot for food and conversation, although some find it challenging to locate. Overall, Mad River Glen is a beloved destination for those seeking adventure and a tight-knit community experience.

Paradise. All of the good and none of the bad. No other mountain like this in the east.

These people are crazy but friendly. All the black runs are fresh powder over icy moguls and it's tough. But a decent amount of greens and blues to mess around on too. It reminds me of skiing when I was 17.
