The only thing I can say is try to find another place if you're looking to go somewhere with your dog all these amazing reviews until we show up let me explain.
We arrived yesterday and they gave us the Chase Suite which unfortunately has a musty vial odor as soon as you walk in and when we find out the bathroom is upstairs we went up to check it out and look at the bedroom the staircase is from 1800 narrow 15 plus stairs dangerous especially for my wife and I who are over 60 and our dog is 11 and she couldn't get up and down either so they switched us to the SPOT room which was one level no stairs which was small tiny no refrigerator no coffee maker no nothing then we find out half the electrical outlets don't work the light outside was not functioning so at night you could not see how to punch your code in to enter the room. That room was the equivalent of a $99 a night room at a Red Roof not $300 that we paid for the Chase Suite which we never even got to stay in as I mentioned.
The facility where the dogs can be left if you go out looks like kennels that's all it. We could have boarded the dog somewhere else if all we wanted to do is dump her in a kennel there was nobody to be with her they said there would be some teenager who could stay with her but they didn't specify if the teenager was just going to lock her in the kennel or what was going to happen and we weren't going to do that to our dog.
Long story short we got in the car this morning and drove back to New Hampshire major fiasco definitely a disappointment and then you throw in that there was no coffee so we had to keep on running to a convenience store or Dunkin' Donuts yesterday and this morning at 6:00 a.m. to get coffee.
Definitely not the birthday experience that I wanted to have for me my wife or our dog.
Sorry Mitch not what we expected.

Let me start by saying, we have been looking for this type of place for YEARS! This is a place for dog people, not just a place for people with dogs. (And if you're not sure which type of person you are, this is a really great place to learn how to be a dog person, not just a person with a dog.)
We stayed in one of the cabins because we have two medium-bigger dogs, and our Chi's the twins. This was the full families first vacation, we've never been able to find a place to take all four at once.
The calm beauty of the property, the space, and the dog friendly accomodations made everything about our trip relaxing. We needed a good relaxation and reset before the hustle and bustle in our lives amps up for the remainder of the year. (I was so relaxed I actually got to read several chapters in a book I've been carrying around for years.)
They are situated not too far outside downtown Rutland, so when we were ready to experience the local community we had the option of leaving our dogs at Mario's, or taking the whole crew downtown for a walk. We did both on different days and had a blasts. We happen to take all the dogs out on the day the farmer's market was downtown so they got a lot of excitement, a lot of pets, and were totally exhausted by bedtime.
Thank you Paw House for hosting us and providing an amazing experience. We're hoping to visit again next June, and likely again after that when we can find the time to travel.

This place absolutely caters to dog owners.
It’s not just that everything is decorated in dog decor.. But everything is for the dogs.
We took our dog Henry, and in our room. There was a bed complete with a little mattress and a pillow blanket and a little bag of homemade treats for him with his name on it.
This place does not care that the dogs get on the bed, On the chair, Have an accident.. Nibble on something- They are all for the dogs.
We found thanks to them. Also a bunch of restaurants that cater to dogs eating outside.
They have a large outdoor pen that is fenced in and the fencing goes into the ground with wood so if you have a digger it deters them.
There are toys and ropes and an obstacle course poop bags throughout the property, There are trails and things to do with your dog.
They also have cottages which we looked at before we left-They come with a fenced in porches and a much bigger area and of course easy access to outside.
I also have a babysitting service for your dog during the morning and afternoon hours if you would like to leave them there to go to a non-dog outing. The kennel is super clean
We slept in the house on the second floor And the room was super nice, completely dog friendly.
Staff go above and beyond to make you and your dog feel comfortable
We will definitely be returning with Henry

There is a decent fenced-in area for pups to run around. As well as very nice individual kennels personalized with your pups' names if you want go out to dinner and have them stay there. Note: they will be checked on in the kennels by the inn keeper.

A Touch of Real Magic – Our Stay at The Paw House Inn
There are only a few moments in life when you truly experience what I can only describe as Real Magic. When you do, it's profound—an enrichment that shifts your perspective and stays with you forever. For my husband, our magical pups Simmy and Sadie, and myself, that moment came during a long weekend stay at The Paw House Inn, nestled in the breathtaking countryside of Rutland, Vermont.
The drive in itself felt like a warm embrace—surrounded by lush greenery on either side, until suddenly, you see it: a charming late-1700s farmhouse, once a working farm, now lovingly transformed into a haven for dogs and their humans. As we arrived, my husband and I exchanged a look—we both felt it. A spark, a kind of electric stillness. It was truly breathtaking.
We stayed in the Koko Kabana Cottage, perched atop a hill overlooking the farmhouse. The views were stunning—not just to us, but apparently unforgettable to Simmy and Sadie, who still bark about it to this day. The cottage was clearly designed with dogs in mind: low windows that allowed our Mini Schnauzers to perch and keep watch over the valley (and every squirrel, breeze, or suspicious leaf that dared move).
The private deck was fully secured, allowing us to lounge peacefully with our girls. Nearby, the Inn’s beautifully maintained and safely enclosed dog park gave our pups the freedom to roam, socialize, and play to their hearts’ content.
Each morning was a delight. We’d harness up Simmy and Sadie and walk down to breakfast. The pups relaxed on the deck—securely leashed to thoughtfully placed carabiners—while we enjoyed a breakfast that felt more like a lovingly prepared family meal. It began with fresh-baked muffins and fruit, followed by a choice of omelets or waffles. The apple/maple omelet stole our hearts.
The entire staff was exceptional—especially Emily, whose bubbly energy and attentive nature set the tone each day. And then there were Mitch and Diggins, the owners, who joined guests for breakfast conversations filled with warmth, laughter, and tips for exploring the area. Meeting them felt like reuniting with old friends. We were honored to witness the dream they’ve created together.
One quiet moment stands out most. My husband looked at me and said, “Do you hear that?” I paused… and realized: absolutely nothing. Just a calming, soul-soothing peace.
We left The Paw House Inn changed—energized and deeply touched. It wasn’t just a vacation. It was a connection. A grounding. A reminder of what matters.
Thank you, Paw House Inn, for sharing your magic. Until we meet again—stay in that magical space.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Lorena, Chris, Simmy & Sadie

June 2025 by For The Love Of Wolfhounds
I came here with my three Irish Wolfhounds Dec of 2021– Paws Inn was a wonderful experience. The large fenced in yard. To the kennel runs while you step out to have a wonderful staff prepared breakfast is the main house. The individual bungalows are great. We had the one w/o the hot tub and preferred it. Nice big comfy king size bed, pull out full size bed for a fellow traveler. The town is twenty minutes away with a wonderful steakhouse. The woods are very close in walking distance (right behind the property) and during winter it’s a winter wonderland.
The owner as well as the caretaker are friendly, dog loving people that are caring without being in your business.

Had a great time staying at the Inn for a weekend. My pups loved it. Emily, the manager, is amazing and prepares the most delicious waffles for breakfast, each morning. We will certainly be returning for a stay

My husband and I recently visited the Paw House Inn with our dog Jasper as a special trip for his 5th birthday. We travel everywhere with Jasper, but it was clear as soon as we arrived at Paw House that this was different, here they completely cater to dogs!
When we arrive we were greeted by Emily who gave us a tour of the property and showed us our room. There's an off leash dog park where Jasper had a great time running around and making friends. There is also a play house where you can safely leave your dogs if you plan on doing some non dog friendly activities.
We stayed in Spot because it had an enclosed porch with a swing and it was amazing! Jasper loves being outside so it was nice to have to area for him to be outside safely. It was perfect that it was enclosed because we got quite a bit of rain while we were there.
Breakfast is served every morning and it was amazing! You get a fruit cup and a fresh baked muffin and then a choice of an omelet or a waffle. I had the waffles each morning while my husband had the omelet and everything was delicious! Jasper enjoyed spending time with us and seeing his dog friends at breakfast as well.
The grounds of the inn are wonderful as well. We spent lots of time walking around and exploring. This was our first trip to Vermont and we absolutely fell in love!! We will definitely be back to Vermont and to the Paw House Inn!

Emily is an amazing host and a great cook!
We had a great time at the Paw House Inn. We stayed in Spot, which was a connected room at the inn, but had a private entrance and enclosed porch. Our dog loved it! He loved the swing, the porch, the dog park, and the little walk down to the water.
The property is gorgeous. There are restaurants and shops nearby. We took a drive to the Vermont Country Store in Weston and loved that our dog was welcomed and celebrated by them.
We didn’t leave him at the playhouse/kennel. He goes to day boarding, but we buy him a private suite where he has a personal tv and walls because other dogs stress him out. The playhouse doesn’t have walls between private kennels, but fencing between dogs instead. Dogs without kennel/shelter trauma would likely be fine and happy, but it wasn’t the right place for our guy.
We aren’t from Vermont, so maybe this is common, but our boy came in covered in ticks each evening. We combed him diligently and didn’t worry because he is on a preventative, but just in case your dog isn’t - there are so many ticks in the area! Make sure your dog is on a preventative before you come!
I do wish there was a common space fireplace. It’s a little chilly at night and it could have been really nice to hang around a fire pit with other guests.
Breakfast was incredible. Emily made our pup feel welcome and at home, and made us delicious, fresh meals each morning. She also brought us our purses when we forgot them in the chaos of having a barky dog at breakfast. I can’t say enough positive things about her.

We all had a great time especially the dog. Emily and Jeff were super helpful and welcoming, and also cook a fantastic omelette. The homemade muffins alone were worth the trip. Would definitely come back.

We love the paw house inn. It’s great to get away for a few days…even better when your puppies can come too. This place has everything a dog owner needs to survive a trip away from home. Throw in a great breakfast every day and you have an instant getaway.
