Don’t bother bringing your cat if they’ve got an upset stomach and diarrhea! Got here at 6:00pm and it’s past 9:00pm as I write this review to warn other pet parents! We didn’t see the vet until 7:00pm and now we’ve been waiting for basic subcutaneous fluid injection and out patient instructions for over two hours! Now, my cat who was feeling sick when we started our 45 minute drive here is probably WORSE because of their lack of care. We’ve been polite and patient but at what point does the non-critical patient become a critical one? He has diarrhea and they’ve provided no litter box, no access to water so he’s like more dehydrated, and no food for him. Take my advice and treat your cat to a small serving (1 tbs) mixture of cooked white meat chicken, water, & white rice every few hours cause that’s the direction we received here. Hope this saves someone else the trouble! Do better BEVS!

I did not have a good experience here at all. The woman at the front desk was rude and not helpful, I was rushed through seeing the actual vet/vet tech after waiting the expected hour +. When it came time for diagnosis, there was no question of if I wanted certain tests done but rather I was told that would be what was happening when I knew my dog didn’t need it. I was RUSHED through my “debrief” if you can even call it that and then just told to pay $300 after i don’t even know what. There was no breakdown of payment, there was so explanation to why I was being charged that, and no treatment worth $300. I’d rather go to Petco for vet advice over BEVs any day

My dog was able to be seen right away. The front desk was very polite and helpful. My dog had gotten into the trash- I called and asked if I should induce vomiting to be told they needed to examine my dog before they could make that decision and they don’t give medical advice over the phone. Upon arrival they brought my dog right back to induce vomiting, without said exam. My dog was able to puke everything up, so at the end of that day that’s all that matters no injuries from trash eating. The vet techs then proceeded to talk behind the door of the room I was in mocking the whole situation, going to take pictures, and other people not directly taking care of her saying “oh I want to go see too”. As a healthcare worker their behavior was totally unprofessional and flat out rude. When she came to tell me she was able to puke everything up I informed her I was fully aware already, as I heard everything they were saying. The doctor himself did come in and apologize on behalf of them which was a nice gesture. But it shouldn’t have had to come to that point.

We ended up at BEVS when my elderly cat very suddenly lost his vision. Yes, we waited a long time and it cost much more than a regular vet, but that's the nature of an emergency service. Everyone from reception to the doctor was kind and caring, and after a week of medication, my cat regained his vision. You are truly miracle workers, and I am so grateful for what you do.

We called ahead, we followed their rules, they examined our puppy, and then told us they're too busy. They left our puppy with hives and welts, screaming in agony from itchiness, with zero sympathy for the puppy or persons with disabilities. They knew we drove over an hour to get there. They knew another practice told us to go there for after hours emergency. They did less than nothing. Then they told us to go anywhere else in the whole state. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Our dog, Poppy (12.5 years), had been having fevers for the past ~4 weeks. Our local vet tried several treatments as the symptoms changed throughout that time. In the end, she was on prednisone to calm a mysterious infection. Christmas day and evening she appeared normal and happy. She was let out about midnight on 12/26 as she was panting (she usually ran warm as a "winter" dog, as I called her -- possibly part Husky with an undercoat -- but the prednisone causes panting as well). We didn't see her for a while so my daughter went looking for her. She was lying up against the fence and couldn't seem to move (as dogs are known to do when possibly near the end?), so my daughter carried her inside. I called our local vet who told me to call BEVS. They instructed us to bring her there immediately (about an hour away). My kids got her there at about 2:00 a.m. and I received a berating phone call because I'd been giving her prednisone for "so long." The person on the other end of the line spoke anxiously and angrily to me, and I believe it was the vet. Shouldn't she be calming me down, not making me feel guilty and alarmed? The estimate to diagnose her was $4,000 - $5,000, but they wouldn't do anything until we put down a 50% "deposit." My son paid with his debit card and left. I received a call at 8:00 a.m. that there was all kinds of "free (?)" fluid around her lungs and the prednisone might be masking something in her liver. She spoke very fast with lots of information that, I guess, I was expected to understand. At that point, the prognosis was very poor, and I wanted our dog home so we could say goodbye in our own home. They told me she wouldn't survive the trip and it wouldn't be kind to drive her home just to euthanize her, to which I agreed. They told me we needed to get there as soon as possible if we wanted to say goodbye. We all got in the car, including our other dog, Bean, and we were there in an hour. This is the part that makes me angriest. They knew she was declining quickly, but they had us waiting for about 20 minutes, first in the front waiting room and then in what I would call a "bereavement" room where they would bring her so we could say goodbye. While we were waiting for them to bring her to us, someone came to tell us that she was "degrading" quickly and they couldn't move her so we needed to hurry to see her in the oxygen chamber where she had been. By the time we got there, she had stopped breathing and there was no reaction on her face. Even though her heart was still beating, she was gone. THEY HAD US WAITING FOR 20 MINUTES THAT WE COULD HAVE SPENT WITH HER. They're the ones who told us how imperative it was for us to get there quickly, and then they made us wait, and we missed seeing her in her final minutes alive, albeit in very poor condition. To add insult to injury, I received a message the next day from someone very soft spoken giving their condolences, but reminding me that there's an outstanding balance. She added that there was no hurry in replying. Well, if there was no hurry, why are they calling me for money the next day? They charged for euthanasia even though they told us she passed on her own. Also, what they call a deposit is actually a down payment. I thought the deposit would be reversed once all treatment was complete and a payment plan or payment for the total bill was made. BEVS should offer some kind of hospice service. They knew at 2:00 a.m. how poorly Poppy was doing and had a good sense what the prognosis was. It would have been an amazing option if they could have sent her home with some dog-dose of morphine (or something similar) so Poppy could be comfortable and we could be with her. (But that's not exactly the most profitable option for them.) UPDATE: I went to pick up Poppy's ashes on January 3 and couldn't help airing my grievances to the receptionist. She seemed very empathetic and suggested I email the managers of the clinic. She told me to us

Spent thousands of dollars for numerous tests, an X-ray, and an ultrasound, and they have zero answers on what’s going on with my dog. Said maybe we can schedule another visit to run through testing again. For what reason? So I can be broke and still have a sick dog? Absolute thievery.

Paid an absurd amount of money for multiple tests that gave me absolutely no results. Avoid this place, unless you have 4k to troubleshoot every visit! My animal is still struggling and all this place wants is the money. Very sad and superficial, this place should be absolutely ashamed of its practices.

Would give zero stars if able to, as the holiday season is coming up please be aware this "emergency vet" DOES NOT CARE with their new most likely multi million dollar facility and a "relaxing" salt water fish tank that has to cost hundreds of dollars a month to maintain, was forced to drive to another entire state to save my cat's life because they didn't have staff on during the holiday season. Still obviously charged me to tell me they couldn't do anything while taking away time for me to get my cat to another emergency vet for a life saving surgery. I hope nobody ever experiences the same thing, but with Christmas a few days away I feel a need to say this.If you happen to have an emergency this Christmas or any other time this place cannot help you (which I hope no one does) would highly suggest going to Deerfield, MA, they always have staff on and saved my cat's life. They might not have unneeded 2 story vaulted ceilings and salt water fish tanks, but will actually save your animal in a critical situation.

Today was at least my 15th visit to BEVs and I'll admit, I am angry as I type this. I have seen the ER multiple times, internal medicine, and now the exotic specialist with several pets. I have spent many, many thousands of dollars here, some of that unnecessary and most of it overpriced (I compare to other vets in the area and find there is a huge uptick on cost from everything to anti-inflammatory injection to x-rays). Let me say I do understand that there is a staff shortage there (I read the WCAX article), and that some of these vet specialists are the only ones in the state. I totally get that these people are doing the best they can every day, 24 hours a day. That is why I always start out my visits to BEVs with a smile on my face and I make a point to never raise my voice or use rude language. I treat them with courtesy.Unfortunately I do not feel that I am treated with the same courtesy, and although they try to say it's not the norm it has been this way every single time I've gone there. I'm talking about the hours and hours of waiting with no updates or time frame. Stressing out and making phone calls to family and employer explaining that I'm going to be much later than I expected and that no, I have no idea when I'll be done. Thankfully my job has been understanding. I had an actual appointment today and it took 2.5 hours to do a basic wound drain and clean. I was never told that this would take hours or I would have come back another day.I figured out why everyone at BEVs smiles so much. They know there's a big problem there but they can't do anything but try to smile through it and hope for the best. Here's the root of it as I see it. COMMUNICATION. Yes, there's a staff shortage, but we are humans with lives and there ought to be a customer care coordinator designated to checking in with the vets and corresponding with the waiting families. Sitting in a waiting room with no updates for hours is awful. The other big problem at BEVs is the rushing due to being short-staffed. At least three times I had a pet visit the ER and get a wrong diagnosis. All three of those visits would have resulted in the death of my pet if I had not kept a close eye and continued to bring him back until the right treatment was given. They said that a raging infection that ended up needing to drain and be treated was "inflammation from healing." That's just one example.BEVs is the only option for 24 hour ER care for pets and the only option for a lot of specialist care. I know the people they employ are smart and capable. Unfortunately the environment they are working in causes a lot of errors to be made and creates a lot of angry customers. But I guess that doesn't matter when you're the monopoly. There's no competition pushing BEVs to do better.

We haven't been to Bevs in close to 15y - I called last night because my regular emergency vet said they cannot see us. Bevs saw us right away, and took really good care of our boy. Unlike the other emergency vet, bevs did not make us feel like we would skip out on the bill and did not withhold treatment until a cc was on file. This was a great feeling, despite having our very old sick dog in in the middle of the night. The doctor and techs were so nice and efficient. Thank you so much! We will be using you for any future emergency vet visits from here on out.

We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Helmick and his support team who gave our cat Patrick such wonderful care during his revision surgery in May. Patrick couldn't be happier and is like a big, overgrown, joyful kitten again! He had endured adversity for so long and is now able to be a carefree cat. We are ever grateful for the expertise of Dr. Helmick and this great outcome for Patrick!

The nurses and doctors at BEVS are wonderful. We had a very scary experience with our 4 year old Bernese Mountain Dog and they took amazing care of him. The doctors had some of the best "bedside manner" I've experienced and reassured us and kept us calm throughout the process. When we picked Boris up after surgery, he had to do his rounds and say goodbye to all the nurses and friends he made! Thank you for taking such good care of our sweet boy.

Wish I hadn't had to go, but we had the best experience we could have with a sick dog. Staff was caring and very willing to work with us and do what was needed to take care of our dog, who is very reactive. The vet techs especially were great and very appreciated.
