Five BIG stars for Amanda and Curly Girl Salon. I have been a loyal Devachan client for ten years and recently relocated to Vermont. With no plans for a New York visit and hair that was wayyyyy overdue, I found Amanda. Amazing! Her salon is a relaxing space, and I honestly enjoyed the experience way more than a cut at Deva in New York. This was so much less "factory" and more personalized. I didn’t take any big risks with the cut and neither did Amanda - she gets the curly girl life. Even so, she gave me some new tips and I love how my hair looks and feels. Lots of compliments! Already booked my next appointment. Thank you, Amanda!

Best curly hair experience. Beautiful salon, clean and bright feel to it. Amanda is knowledgeable and takes time with clients to explain what she can do and asks questions to be certain client has desired effect before cutting.Deva curl products.Dry cut, not wet.Used proper products and styling.2 week policy to make adjustments for curl pattern, etc.

Absolutely LOVE my new curly cut! My hair is so much healthier, but that was expected. What wasn’t expected was the over-the-top stellar customer service. Amanda answered all of my questions as thoroughly as we had time for. She recommended products for my curls. She simplified my routine and gave me inspiration for future care. I must go back because she is a wealth of information!! The only reason for the 4 star rating is because she seemed hesitant to tell me what products she was using and how/why she was using them on my hair. Not sure why. I also tried to take a picture of the products she recommended so I wouldn’t forget, but was informed that no photos are allowed in the salon. I was really looking forward to a before and after picture that she took, but she never sent them to me so I missed out on that opportunity. Be sure to take your own before and afters!

Amanda at Curly Girl Salon changed my life! No joke. I battled my crazy thick, wavy hair for years. I avoided going to salons because hairdressers never could cut it right and they were overwhelmed by it! But Amanda is a pro. She gave me a great cut and taught me how to take care of my curls. I am now a Deva Curl convert! She always does a great job and is super friendly, professional and kind.

Best haircut ever! I have thick, wavy hair and Amanda makes it look great every time. The cut is so good it retains its shape even when it grows out. Amanda is very personable and has become a great friend. Her salon is clean and beautiful. She has strict covid precautions. Highly recommend.

Wow, Amanda is amazing! Amanda is an absolute curly hair wealth of knowledge and it's clear that she cares deeply about fostering honest, supportive, and helpful relationships with her clients. She helped me fix my routine, gave me the best haircut I have ever gotten, and I left the salon with my curly hair! (I usually find that hairdressers don't really know how to diffuse my hair well...) Overall, if you have curly hair, stop searching and book with Amanda. It's worth it!

***BEWARE an APPOINTMENT is NOT an APPOINTMENT*** I was so excited when i looked out my apartment and saw curly girl salon but it was covid and couldn't make an appointment. Finally the ban on hair cutting was lifted and i called to make the appointment. No one called me back so i was afraid they didn't survive Covid as so many businesses have folded. Two weeks later Amanda called me back. I was so ecstatic that i was going to get an appointment. There wasn't any appointments available for another 4 weeks . I was due for a haircut then but i wanted to try this new method for my curls so i was willing to wait. Today finally came and i was so looking forward to my appointment. Ask any of my family and you will know i couldn't stop talking about this appointment. I received a confirmation text a few days before and read the long text of instructions and the new covid routine and to text when i arrived. What i missed at the very end was that she stated to text YES to confirm or text to reschedule. I only noticed the last part so i did not do anything but i DID pay attention to the instructions. When i arrived at work i realized i forgot my phone so i knew i would have to go home first to get my phone so i could text when i arrived. around 2 my husband was in the area of my work so he dropped it off. When i looked at it i saw i got a text from curly girl asking if i could change my appointment to 11:30 instead of 4. Well i couldn't have anyway because i work so i texted right away asking if my 4 pm appointment was still on. Amanda gave me a terse reply that i did not confirm my appointment so it wasn't available. Well technically since the original text she sent did not give a deadline to confirm i in fact did confirm my appointment when i replied back to her text. I thought it was odd her reply was so terse and was frankly quite offended that she had taken such a hard line without explanation. Of course i would understand if an emergency came up and she had to cancel. I never imagined she gave my appointment away!!! I noticed i had a voicemail and sure enough she had left me a message. Basically saying i had to reply by noon or she would give my slot to someone on the waiting list. This was the first i knew that she gave the appointment away. Never mind that i forgot my phone i was at work and most days i can't look at my personal phone while working so even if i had my phone i may not have seen my messages. I asked that she call me and she did. She offered me an appointment for 6 days later but i had a special event before then and I had hoped to have my overgrown hair cut. When i said i wanted her to honor my appointment and that my experience with other businesses was unless i explicitly cancel an appointment i have the appointment. Her demeanor changed from a pleasant cheerful person to a very stern tone and that it was my fault that i lost the appointment. The principal of the matter is an appointment is an appointment until someone explicitly says otherwise ESPECIALLY when you have to wait so long to get the appointment and even a return call to make the appointment. She may have a unique way to cut and handle curly hair and therefore in high demand but she needs to treat her customers with more respect. It's just not worth it to have your time be so devalued and therefore you as a person be devalued. I have gone 61 years having my hair cut conventionally it won't hurt to continue and pay significantly less while I am at it.

I am absolutely loving my hair cut from today with Amanda! I went in with dry, dull curls but left with bouncy /shiny curls and the perfect cut! I am so appreciative of the time Amanda spent going over curl care and tips for styling at home. My curls feel light and rejuvenated, and I got some great products to keep the good hair day going. The salon was beautiful, made for such a relaxing visit. 10/10 best hair cut I’ve gotten since moving to Vermont 5 years ago! If you have curls that are distressed and in need of some TLC, don’t look anywhere else!!
