I was shopping and noticed that the black woman manager was yelling very loudly and rudely at a new employee. This made the environment feel hostile and uncomfortable. She made a whole angry scene of explaining something to him at the desk. So rude

Katrina (I know I’m misspelling her name), the manager at this location, is extremely helpful and friendly. She went the extra mile to track down two specific puzzles I was looking for to give as gifts. Thank you!

Usually I come to Barnes and Nobles and I am greeted with chairs throughout to sit, watch, and gather thoughts. However at this location if you were not in the cafè you cannot sit and just enjoy the music and atmosphere. I was just kicked out for sitting to enjoy the music and writing. I was not in the way of anyone but when I arrived the cafè was full so I just decided to take a chair provided in the music area and sit.Well I guess I will visit my favorite bookstore in another location. I wonder what would have been done if I decided to sit on the floor.

Great place to hangout and do work or school work. Pretty quiet for traffic bookstore. I will say the only downside is they don't have enough outlets for your laptop other than that great place to get some work done.

I have become a huge fan of the cafe that they have inside of the store. I actually stumbled upon this location as I was walking past to go to a nearby grocery store that has a similar cafe. However the cafe here is much more comfortable and better. Instead of just 3 or 4 tables, they have closer to 20. I've been cafe surfing over the past couple of months just so that I can get some coding work done. The WiFi is strong, and the music has been maintained at low moderate level. Try going to some of the chain cafes in the area and tell me how loud the music is. It's as almost as if the restaurant music is to entertain the employees, nevermind the customers' needs. That wasn't the case here at all. The only downside is the lack of food options and some of the few drinks that they do have here are pricey. I enjoyed my time here today and plan on coming back soon!

Hadn't been in a bookstore in ages, and it was nice to go here. In addition to books, they now have a decent toy section (mostly educational variety) and staff was easy to find to help us find the book we were there for.

Went there for a BTS book and cup-sleeve event coordinated by Spring Day Events. Starbucks provided a small discount to those who came for the event. The crowd was great! Friendly and polite! I was able to walk around the store and found what I needed immediately. The staff were very helpful too.

Decent Barnes and Noble but they have almost no seating at their cafe. It’s like they went down to five tables for COVID and then never brought back the tables. There’s A LOT of empty space where they could put tables but they just don’t.Do not expect to get a coffee and be able to sit and relax for a bit because the tables fill up and no one leaves. They need more seating space. I don’t know why the cafe even exists except for to-go orders.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I was unable to find a title that was claimed to be ‘in-store’ when checking the website. Went to the customer service desk to ask if they’re able to find a nearby location that would have it. Not only was I interrupted when trying to ask, but my question was completely left unanswered and I was spoken to in a condescending manner. While the employee was searching up the title, another customer started looking at the computer; not knowing it was only for employees. After she snapped at this customer, she turned to me and told me the title was unavailable at this location. I then reiterated that I wanted to know if she’d be able to find a nearby location that did, she then flatly told me no. When I tried asking another employee (as I know for a fact they can check for other locations), instead of being helped by them, I was given excuses for the other employee’s rude behavior and was dismissed. After going to another location, I was told they indeed were able to check the availability for other stores. Not sure who ruined this B&N’s employees’ day, but my God I hope it gets better. There’s no reason to be rude when asking a valid and reasonable question.

Review for cafe: We typically love this location and have been loyal customers for 4 years and have had no problems. Unfortunately today however, we had a very disheartening and unfortunate experience when a barista by the name of Erik (I think) who served us warm coconut milk instead of a venti drink. He seemed to be very upset that we didn’t want ice even though we always order that way ( and the drinks are always good) and even agreed to be charged extra (which is what he insisted we do). Very odd and rude encounter. The kind cashier offered us a refund so this review is really just for him.

I had a great time reading and drinking coffee in the café. I was looking for a book or a magazine on TV production, but they didn't have any further n the whole store. A bit disappointed since they have a lot on the subject online.

It's a Barnes and Noble, nothing really special, but bookstores generally merit 4 stars from me. They have a nice little Starbucks for drinks. Parking is easy, but metro access is hard. Hopefully, that will get better with the Potomac Yard station opening. Other bookstores in the area tend to suffer from a lack of space, which isn't a problem here. Generic, but it hits the spot.

Barnes and Noble at Potomac Yard is one of our favorite places in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. My wife and I love it We love brick and mortar book stores. Barnes and Noble at Potomac Yard got us through the Covid pandemic crisis. I had the store ship us endless books and movies, which helped us pass the time. I helped us retain our sanity, as we self-isolated. I always order books and movies from Barnes and Noble at Potomac Yard. I only order items from Amazon that I cannot obtain anywhere else. I love history, politics, foreign policy, international trade and economics, historical novels, books about foreign travel, travel guides, foreign policy and military journals. I am like a kid in a candy store when I go to Barnes and Noble at Potomac Yard. I like to linger and browse through all of the store's offerings. The staff behind the reference desk and front counter are incredibly helpful and patient. The eatery and coffee shop is terrific, out of this world. I miss the Borders book store chain, but I thank my lucky stars that I still have Barnes and Noble at Potomac Yard.
