Perfect fit on my dress and they also helped with dry cleaning and preservation after! Had a complicated lace dress but they handled it masterfully and you couldn't even tell it was cut or modified. Opened the box after cleaning and it looked as beautiful as it fit!

Befitted came as a recommendation from the company that I purchased my dress from, Grace Loves Lace, sadly I had a poor experience with their services. While Michelle and Diane are a very kind mother-daughter duo, their services were subpar.
I should have known that my experience would be mediocre when they required me to purchase a face covering for putting my dress on over my head. My dress buttons down the back and is easiest to get in stepping directly into the dress with no risk of rubbing on my face/makeup/skincare.
When I arrived for my second visit, they were stating that the dress was ready to take home before I even had it on. This seems to be a familiar theme in some of the other poor reviews. When I put the dress on and had concerns, they attempted to tell me multiple times that the dress is fine and there is nothing to do about it aside from use fashion tape. When you spend $1200 on alterations and your dress is gaping to the point where you can see your nipples, that’s not an appropriate answer. I had to push several times for a suitable resolution. This resolution was sewn in approximately 5 minutes and they sent me home with the dress in hand without having me try it on again after making adjustments.
When I got home and inspected the dress, another issue had arisen, the bra inserts were clearly lopsided and this showed even on a photo that Michelle took of me in the dress in the studio…. Something that her team missed. One of the bra pads was also visible from the top of the dress.
I expressed my concerns to the team and their resolution was refunding me only $200. I had my dress fixed elsewhere, which cost an additional hundreds of dollars that I could have avoided in just doing better research and reading reviews.
On the day of the wedding, the single point bustle that they created came undone during the reception a handful of times and was poorly secured, leading to my dress getting trampled and destroyed on the dance floor.
In summary, my experience seemed careless, rushed, and overpriced. Their attempt at making things right was also defensive and not helpful from a financial perspective. Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful, sadly this experience contributed to that stress tenfold.

Diane and Michelle are AMAZING! When I first received my dress, I was extremely nervous and to be honest had a lot of doubts. It was way larger than I expected and I felt like I was swimming in it. It didn't stay up and wasn't figuring flattering like it had been when I tried it on at the bridal shop. Diane and Michelle worked wonders on my dress, hemming it and reconstructing the bodice to ensure it fit me like a glove. They were super kind, complimentary, listened to my concerns, and answered my questions. The process was seamless -- my dress needed lots of alterations and I had three appointments total (that includes the pickup appointment). For the amount of work they did, I felt it was fairly priced. No, it wasn't cheap -- but you get what you pay for :)

The Befitted mother-daughter duo are AMAZING. I had a wedding dress crisis (original dress had manufacturing defect, back-up dress order was cancelled, got 3rd option dress just 4 weeks before leaving for my wedding) and they were super responsive and fit me in very last minute.
Not only did they do a perfect job on the alterations requested, they also suggested a few alterations that made the dress easier to wear on the day of. They are really friendly, sweet, and happy to share tips and tricks they've learned in years of doing this. I can't recommend them enough - they saved my wedding!

The BeFitted Team was an absolute dream to work with--they altered and repaired both my wedding dress and after-party jumpsuit to perfection, with a calm, organized, and thoughtful approach throughout. When I needed advice about how to travel with my dress, they were responsive and ready to help. I really cannot recommend them enough!

I had a really great experience with this team, and they were very easy to work with. They did everything in a very timely manner , and I had my dress in hand 3.5 weeks before I fly out, so there’s not additional stress with cutting it close. BeFitted was professional from the first impression which was their website which was thoroughly informative and allowed for online booking . Read every page before going in.
I appreciated their inclusive collection of bust tape and bra cups . You wouldn’t believe how many places don’t offer bust cups in various shades , but BeFitted instantly offered to swap my beigey nude ones for a medium brown closer to my skintone which was my biggest insecurity about my dress. They showed me how to use bust tape to make my dress fit even better.
When you finish your tailoring , they send you on your way with great tips on how to transport your dress and make it look best on the big day.
This place is probably above market rate , so if finding the cheapest deal on your tailoring is your priority then this may not be the shop for you. However , the peace of mind, professionalism, experience, and convenience of weekend appointments was well worth it in my opinion.

I'm so glad I found Befitted! They are a fantastic mother-daughter operation, and they are absolute experts. My custom dress didn't need significant alternations, but they made my alternations to a beaded dress with care and added a stunning French bustle. Moreover, I was so impressed with their recommendations from steaming to undergarments to bustling. They ensured I was prepared with all the tips to make getting dressed a breeze. It was above and beyond, and made their services really stand out.

BeFitted thought that the dress pictured on the left was “wedding ready.”
I purchased my dress from a boutique in Boston and BeFitted was on their list of recommended tailors in the DC / Northern VA area.
I scheduled my appointment in accordance with their suggested timeline, expecting there would be 3 total appointments between the first and departure.
All seemed to go well with the first appointment and I left them with my dress. At my first follow-up, however, I was caught by surprise. They thought the dress was done. They were hyping up how beautiful I looked. I thought that they would be doing more to it but they actually said I “graduated” and was taking the gown home.
Once I left, with gown in hand, I looked back on my photos of the sample dress in the bridal boutique and it was immediately apparent the dress was nothing like what it should be. I posted about it to Reddit and multiple tailors advised that more can and should be done. I asked to come back and shared the photos.
That visit with BeFitted was 30 minutes of them justifying their work, to the point of going on the internet and trying to find other photos of brides wearing the dress and imperfections in their photos (some of which were just photos in bridal shops—obviously not tailored). They went so far to imply that taking the dress to anyone else would put it at risk. That if anyone else would be willing to do anything more with it, it could irreversibly damage it.
The photo on the right is the dress after I took it to another bridal alterations shop in DC. It is exactly how it should be, and makes BeFitted’s excuses fall flat.
It’s one thing if you don’t possess the skills to tailor this dress. It’s another to intimidate a customer from going elsewhere.
For full disclosure BeFitted did refund me for all but $425 of what I had paid. They kept the $425 for the addition of the belt (which I supplied) and the hemming of the length. They also “comped” me some double sided tape and a steamer cover.
I’m so glad I stuck to my gut and took my dress elsewhere. I’d advise you do the same.

I am quite late in writing a review, but was reminded yesterday just how wonderful the Befitted team is. Not only were they incredibly kind in the entire tailoring process, they also helped make a last minute adjustment literally days before I had to leave for my wedding week out of state. They helped me figure out what undergarments best suited my dress and offered a wealth of knowledge for proper dress care. I felt well cared for and I am so grateful for their support!

I had the absolute best experience with BeFitted Tailoring! The appointment and payment process were so straightforward, and they gave incredibly helpful bustling diagram and steps for my wedding dress. They were friendly, incredibly kind, and realistic about the deadline. I know they put so much joy and care into their work, and they made what could have been a stressful process a breeze. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to alter a wedding dress!
