Love, love, LOVE Capital LuXe Studios! Joy is amazing! She is very thoughtful and patient and extremely thorough! We had a consultation first and then on the day of my appt, she confirmed what I was seeking and with questions, better understood me and gave excellent recommendations. She broke up a poor block of color on my hair. She added great dimension, warmth (something I was looking for), and style to my dull hair. I knew it would be a process, but very much worth the money spent!! Highly recommend Joy at Capital LuXe Studios!!

Joy is truly a miracle worker! Not only is she a wonderful person, but she's also an exceptionally skilled hairstylist and colorist. After spending a fortune on lackluster results in the city, I was nearly ready to give up on fixing my dull, highlighted hair. Fortunately, I discovered Joy near DC, and she completely transformed my hair. She not only restored my hair color to its perfect shade but also helped it grow longer than ever before. I am never disappointed and always receive compliments on my hair.
Joy is the best—she's affordable, kind, and highly skilled. I highly recommend her services. I am incredibly thankful to have found her. ❤️

I had my first appointment with Joy today and all I can is WOW! Anyone who is blonde knows how hard it is to find a stylist who just “gets it” and can give you that blended, natural balayage color but with all the pop! She took the time to listen to what I wanted, I shared some pictures, and she was spot on!!! She did an AMAZING job and I left the salon feeling confident and summer ready! Already looking forward to the next time! ?

Joy is the only stylist I trust with my hair - she is incredible! Before Joy, I had gone to a couple of the celebrity salons in the DC/NoVA area (the crazy $$$$ for a haircut kind) and never felt as good with my hair as I have with Joy. She understands hair, she knows style, and she’ll treat your hair as if it were her own - with the highest level of care and consideration. I have thick, difficult, stick-straight in some places, wavy in others, kind of hair and don’t have a lot of time to work on it in the morning. Joy gives me the perfect cut every time I see her. She takes everything into consideration when working with you - hair type, lifestyle, style preferences, etc. Then she works her magic. I always leave her salon feeling SO much better. When I was feeling adventurous and wanted to shorten my hair length, I brought in some pictures that I liked. She took time to listen to what I wanted, and let me know what things would work and what things might not given my hair type/lifestyle. At the end, my hair came out better than the pictures I brought in. BETTER. THAN. THE. PICTURES!! I cannot recommend her enough!
As for her studio - it’s clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Parking is plentiful, free, and convenient to the studio. If you like to have impromptu therapy sessions with your stylist, she is so friendly and personable. But if you’re not a big talker, like me sometimes, just let her know and she’ll set you up with the iPad so you can watch/listen to whatever you like. She truly cares about making you as comfortable as can be, which I appreciate so much!

After trying out various master stylists in the Old Town Alexandria area for the past few years and finding each of them lacking, I’ve finally found my forever stylist in Joy! Where do I start? First, she knows what’s she doing and can cut long and short hair. I like to mix things up and sometimes go with a shorter edgier cut or I’ll go through phases where I like long waves. Joy is skilled at both and not a one trick pony like some stylists who can only cut long hair. She’s wonderful at color and on one occasion when my highlights were not as light as I wanted, she graciously redid them free of charge. That is a sign of a true professional as Joy wants her clients to leave happy. Joy also listens with great care and is gently honest. When I first met Joy I’ll admit I found her a little intimidating as she’s quite stylish and beautiful, but I quickly learned she’s a funny, kind and genuinely good person. It is never a challenge to sit in her chair. I’ve had stylists who might have been great at hair, but were not really nice people so it was challenging and draining to be in the presence of their negative vibes for hours while getting my hair done. On the other hand I actually look forward to my appointments with Joy because I know I’ll leave feeling better inside and out! I’ve grown to adore and trust Joy so much that I’ve referred my husband to her so she is now our family stylist. Joy is the total package!
