This credit union has really tanked. Hardly any tellers at the window, slow system and antiquated ATM machine that doesn't allow you to make cash deposits.

I have several loans with Commonwealth and even bought my first house through them but I have to say I'm very very disappointed in how things was handled in trying to buy my second house , communication was terrible, had to send several documents multiple times , then give me a closing date and right before the date pull the rug out from underneath you , now they don't want to even talk to you about nothing , really terrible business and thinking about moving all my stuff away .

I got a car loan with them 4 years ago. I moved to Maryland two years ago. I have never been able to register my car in MD because after several phone calls with them telling me its resolved, I still couldn't get a copy of my title. I decided to pay off the loan early so I could finally register my car, and now after another three phone calls I still dont have my title. Last call the person told me I have to contact the DMV. This is literally the first person to tell me I have to contact the dmv, everyone else told me it would be mailed to me. Now I went to the DMV website and they don't show that I own my car, so I cant request the title. What really abysmal customer service.

In this time where creditors, utility companies, landlords, mortgage lenders and others are reaching out to clients to see how they can help them manage their accounts & payments (deferred payments, skip a pay, lower interest rates, etc) COFCU is busy calling and emailing about not receiving a payment and demanding payments on the phone. I have a VERY low balance with them right now and I'm amazed at the number of calls and emails I'm getting. People are being told to only leave the house for essentials such as work, grocery store, medical issues. I don't see paying a $45 loan payment as essential. I could always pay online like I do other bills but they don't offer this service. And if you pay over the phone you have to pay a $4.99 fee. My membership started nearly 30 years ago when they were the Alexandria Employees Credit Union. I've had car loans there in the past in addition to this personal loan I got a few years ago. It saddens me to say that once I pay this off, which I hope to be in the next few weeks, I am done with them. I have a relative who just moved his money out because they didn't approve his recent car loan and he's been with them as long as me AND has a 750+ credit score and has financed cars with them in the past. I also had issues with them when I was ill a few years ago. Several times I was hospitalized and on short term disability at times. I had to bring my medical records in for them to prove to them what was going on . Of course they told me that wasn't necessary once I got there but no one seemed to believe me when they would call me on the phone and I'd be literally laying in a hospital bed. The only thing I will miss about COFCU is picking up the local newspapers they have at door on my way out.

ive been a loyal member at common wealth one federal union for over 30 years, on or about 1/28/2020 a new banking home page was in effect. however, it had clinches in the new system. after my account was closed the credit union was supposed to send the balance I had in my account, so I could open another account with navy federal credit union. as of today, jan 13, 2020, over 15 days later, i've not received by money. right after they forcibly closed my account they went back to the old system after numerous complaints. ive called repeated checking the status of my refund, there is no answer as to where's my money. I am a senior that can't get out regularly due to extreme pain in my back which prevents me from walking any distance, that money is for me to buy food and necessities as I need. fifteen days without my medicine is ashame. it was a many errors done, first, they shouldn't closed my account without filing out paperwork, 2nd, it was not my choice to close the account and finally, money owed to members over $1,000 should have been mailed certified through ups. when i called the managers and supervisor acts as if they don't care. I want my money immediately. my next step is small claims court in upper Marlboro, md, I already contact BBB, Washing, dc.

Help you members! I sent a secured message, requesting an automatic ACH payment be stopped. COFCU informed me that payment was initiated by merchant and they would have to stop it, OR I could pay $30 for a stop payment! I switched mortgages and am trying to ensure payment posts properly to the correct account. In order to do so, I'm required to pay $30 or wait to see if it posts incorrectly (tying up my funds) and dispute the payment! This is WRONG! I should have control of my funds, not the merchant!

Don't recommend it at all.. if you want to close your account because YOU HAVE MOVED ACROSS THE COUNTRY they will make it hard for you to do so. I called and asked how I would go about closing my account since I live in California now. Was told to send an email with an explanation, my account number, and new address. I did so. Then I receive an email saying that everything has to be written and faxed. They don't accept emails... then why was I told to email???? Why waste peoples time.. I'm closing a bank account not applying for a loan. They honestly sucked when I lived in Alexandria and apparently still do.

I've been a member for over 30 years. They aren't the best (in comparison to like Navy Federal) but they are doable. The issue I have is that they are acting like a large bank...looking only at numbers instead of the members history/ accounts / payment history, etc. If you can't get a loan thru a federal union like this then I might as well switch everything to another bank. My mother, daughter, husband, and father all have accounts with them but the level of services available as well as loan issues and their mobile website are still just behind.

do not recommend this credit union. the app is terrible. you verify your identity and they want to ask a lot of questions about purchases. that's fine if you are the only one on the account but if you have a joint account and your significant other charges things that you don't know you are done. worst bank I've ever had.

I have been a member for over 30 years. It is great! I live outside of the US now, and I haven't had any issues. Any concerns are dealt prompt, and action is taken with a call also now that I am not that close to one of the branches.

I've been a customer for over 30 years and I love the Customer Service Staff! COFU is the only credit union that has their customers back and best interest.

So far I use this bank only to keep some cash nearby in my college town. I have to say, the website is awful; by far the worst website experience I have had with any financial institution I have used. I am also a member of NFCU and can attest to their professional, user-friendly, glitch-free web experience. I also have complaints about the way account number information is handled by COFCU; when I tried to set up my direct deposit for an on-campus job, I could not even find my account information on the website nor on the statements so I was required to call the institution to get it whereas with NFCU it is on your bank statement. I have not had trouble with deposits, etc. but I have also not used these services much. All I can say so far is that the website leaves much to be desired and is currently glitch-filled and poorly designed in terms of user-friendliness.

not off to a good start. It took well over 1 hour just to open an account. After giving all the proper identification ( Drivers Lic, Passport) my account came up marked as fraud!!! are you kidding me that has never happened to me ever. And the banker never said anything to me i had to over hear her say it to someone on the phone---crazy!! by this time we are sitting in silence and everything is being blamed on the "System" really????? and after all that i was finally approved---really!!!! you don't say..... and the system once again was acting up I could not even get my debit card while I was at the branch....
