I just got off the phone with Daniel regarding some information I needed about a repair project. He was so kind and helpful and I wish I lived closer so I could meet him in person! It is not often that you find someone at the top of their profession willing to answer questions from a novice in comparison and it gave me the biggest heart smile. Thank you again! It was so nice hearing your professional opinion! No wonder the Knoll headquarters referred your studio! Pierre Jeanneret would be PROUD!

As an interior designer, it is my worst experience!!! I I ordered a sofa bed in December 2018. I was asked to pay in advance. I did. The sofa was promised for March 2019. It was delivered in August 2019. It was not at all according to specs. Mechanically, the opening and closing was sloppy and dangerous. When calling, I constantly got the run around. I will never again work with Donnelly!... Read More

This place is out of business, empty storefront. Gone, no forwarding address or any note of where they moved . Gone, gone, gone

Daniel and crew beautifully reupholstered an original Saarinen Womb Chair, with seams matching original upholstery and other craftsmanship that's difficult to find. Because they knew it had sentimental value for me, they carefully delivered it and walked me through steps to take to preserve the integrity of the original framework. Thank you!

Great guy, super friendly, very cool business. Restored a wooden chess set for me that had (primarily) sentimental value. It was a pretty small, humble job that Daniel didn't need to take, but he did it anyway. It says a lot about his character and how he operates. Will definitely keep him in mind for the future and am happy to point friends to him. Thanks Daniel!

Daniel Donnelly made a dresser for us that, years later, looks and functions so well. I highly recommend his company.

Eames. Saarinen. Miller. Donnelly. Each of the designers listed above is unique. Each is an artist. But only one is still designing great furniture today. Daniel Donnelly's Modern Design Studio is itself a work of art. Mid-century modern aficionados will appreciate this showroom complete with clean lines and sleek designs. Guys and dolls with a keen eyes will spot some familiar mid-century vintage pieces gracing the floors here. From Heywood Wakefield to Herman MIller to Sarrinen, you'll see their original work scattered among the other swanky goods. The real gems in the showroom are the Daniel Donnelly originals, however. His furniture is, at times, a nod to the aforementioned designers, but his modern designs are certain to become classics in their own right. The back of the showroom is dedicated to custom orders and reupholstery/upholstery/textiles because this is a multi-functioning showroom. What? This is not an amateur you're dealing with. Daniel has a family background in antiques, he's been working in the D.C. design community for well over 2 decades and he's a nice guy. In all seriousness, his credentials check out. After meeting him earlier today, Daniel came across as being professional, friendly and enthusiastic about his work and wanting to create phenomenal modern furniture. Daniel Donnelly Modern Design Studio is on the outskirts of Old Town, Alexandria but this is not a showroom you want to pass up. Don't let the $$$ fool you, he's worth it. As your mama used to say, "you get whatcha pay fer." Looking for distinctive, sophisticated modern furniture with wow factor? Willing to shell out $$$, but sick of the catty Caddy's Alley attitude in Georgetown? Well form fits function, so get your feet formed into your pumped up kicks and check it out already.

This place is off the charts, out of control, I'm in love. The vintage, the Eames, Miller, Nelson, the Saarinen. Ahhh, I think I died and went to design heaven. I felt almost as though I was walking through a sculpture garden of modern furniture. If you're looking for your run of the mill pottery barn, crate and barrel cookie cutters, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a studio that clearly has an eye for modern design this is your haven. The designer, Daniel Donnelly, searches out vintage pieces, production of vintage designs, refinishes in addition to building his own original designs. The diverse collection is flawless. I've visited on several occasions and dreamt that the studio was my home but on the last visit I had the opportunity to meet Daniel Donnelly. Such a nice gentleman with a passion for his work. Definitely the type of person and business I would like to support. Now I need to just have a little fundraiser to raise some money to show my support. A girl can dream.
