I have never experienced this level of disrespect from ANY collections dept. anywhere EVER! I was made to feel as if I was trash to these people after expressing hardship and calling them the day I was let go from my job to ask if I can have a deferment. Their response was no with no explanation. Only that I need to make payments as often as I could with alternatives offered. I was able to file an insurance claim on one of the smaller accounts. Mind you, this is before they got the last on time payment after the conversation. I then paid what I could, when I could but was constantly and consistently met with threat after threat. Then during the untimely death of my daughter, they still did not help. The only way they would help is if I would send proof of her death, further traumatizing and exacerbating the situation. A financial hardship, is a financial hardship regardless of the reason, right? Not with Democracy Federal Credit Union. They never asked me for proof of hardship before her death. Throughout the hardship, their focus was always to "collect a debt" and I get it, that is their job, Fast forward to me finally securing employment and a salary to afford resuming payments, I CONTACTED THEM today to get the balances to make my accounts current or to pay of the written off debt. Listen... They both (Sabrina Truslow) and her sidekick supervisor (Ms. Maxwell). Both came to the phone with guns blazing. Not even wanting to hear that I can now make the payments. They were angry, and they stopped at nothing to make me know they were angry. They even had the nerve to ask me "how are you going to get the money at this point? the car is in reposession and we are coming to get it" All I wanted and needed at that time were the balances required to bring them current, get them out of collections, and stop the reposession. I was not calling to ask for any further deferments etc., because they were never in the mindset to assist me, only to demean me and continuously threaten me. I am pretty sure that those people that perform QA could attest. My experience was a nightmare. The kicker in all this is before the hardship, my payments were consistently current. Thanks be to GOD that I am finally out of that rut and able to get back on my feet. If you are a member of this credit union and you hit hard times, make sure you have a cushion, because that is what I am guilty of. The way that I was treated by these people was a travesty. There was no care, compassion, or concern at all. They way they humiliated me, made me feel as if I stole something from them. Their customer service is right up there with Spirit Airlines. IYKYK. And that is to say the least.

This place will steal your money in overdraft fees. When overdraft fees are illegal. I did get a good auto loan when they had employees that cared. I can not Tell you the slime and stealing in this place please go elsewhere if you value your money..... Thieves, and have no care about the customers unless they can steal from you. ?

Let me start off saying, i was so thankful to be assisted by Loan Processor Jayson S dela Paz. He was so patience, knowledgeable and kind. He really advocate for me to get the best deal for my auto loan. Best customer service i have seen in a long time. Very professional and efficient.

Getting a hold of anyone at this credit union is impossible,the website says they close at 5 pm when in called come to find out they close at 4 pm ,I was calling to resolve a minor issue in my account don't see how this place is still around i go online to transfer money from my savings to my checking and I see a $5.00 transfer fee does this new CEO even care does he even look at these reviews what a clown show when Cathy was CEO at least she would connect people with issues it's a joke of a place

I attempted to use the ATM, the machine took my money out of my account but never disbursed the funds. The security guard let my husband and I inside of the credit union to speak with the manager. After speaking with one Africa Woman at the first desk, she went to the side office and spoke to a white woman. Both of them came out and proceeded to tell me that it was nothing that they could do to refund my $600. I insisted that they fix this issue. The white women said the ATM

This bank is just awful in customer service. Things that should be routine are so difficult here. In the last couple of months, I've had payments that I tried to make, transferred to someone else's account, I've had my online banking access taken away (though it's not very good in the first place), I've been told that I can't do anything about my CD account until the day it matures, which happened to be a Saturday they were closed of course. And through all these issues, every time I've called member services, all i get is the voicemail, yet no one calls me back. I've sent e-mails that the website says I should contact, yet no reply to those either. My suggestion is just avoid this bank. Their rates are pretty good but it's not worth the hassle and poor service.

WARNING DO NOT JOIN DEMOCRACY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION. THIS BANK HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. ITS SO BAD I WISH I COULD FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OVER 15 YEARS . THEY WERE NOT THIS BAD YEARS AGO. BUT AS TIME WENT ON THE PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE WHEN BUSINESS ARE SUPOSSE IMPROVE THERE SERVICE DEMOCRACY CUSTOMER SERVICE DECLINED. THERE IS ABOUT A HAND FULL OF PEOPLE HANDLING POSSIBLE HU NDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS CALLS. WHEN YOU CALL ANY BRANCH THEY DONT ANSWER THE PHONE. WHAT TYPE OF BANK SENDS THERE CUSTOMERS TO THE MANAGERS VOICE MAIL. THEN THE MANAGER CALLS YOU BACK DAYS LATER . THESE PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HANDLING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AlSO I WAS APPROVED FOR A CAR LOAN AFER READING THERE TERMS OF AGREEMENT AND I CALCULATED MY COST MY INTEREST RATE IT WAS VERY HIGH I HAVE GOOD CREDIT 790 IS MY SCORE. ITS NOT THE GREATEST SCORE BUT THEY COULD DO BETTER. I THOUGHT CREDIT UNIONS HAVE BETTER RATES. I JUST SHOULD OF APPLIED A TD BANK BECAUSE THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE.

The District Heights location is Awesome!!! Jennifer is by far the BEST Branch Manager!! She helped me consolidate all of my credit cards. She really changed my life for the best!!
