Shala was nice, but I did not care for the end result of my hair. It did not have a lot of movement or body after being blow dryed and flat ironed . It was a bit stiff and I did not like the fact that she put pomade on my edges without asking me. She did not know how to do edges for black people hair, so it did not look the best and I had to fix it. I also did not like that she cut a couple of inches of hair off when I said a trim. Granted I needed the trim, but I'm use to stylists doing a little bit or asking if I would like all the dead hair trimmed. And the other issue was how I was charged twice for flat ironing ... I was charged for a flat iron set which is $25 and then a flat iron finish for $10. It makes no sense because she did not do any extra flat ironing other than to staright my curly natural hair after being washed and blow dryed. So why add another $10? Speaking of natural curly hair, Shala also did not seem to know much about black hair. She was offering the salon products as all the styles are trained to do, but they honestly weren't that great for my hair type. Also they were $40 a bottle and I already use Camille Rose products, which work well for my natural hair. She also was telling me to get trims every 6 to 8 weeks, but I perfer to get my hair trimmed as needed since I do protective styles. And I usually keep my hair in braids for about 1- 2 months, so it wouldn't work. Also she kept saying may hair was dry, which it was but it was due to me reblow drying my hair after flat ironing it a week prior and sweating it out. And I tried to salvage it by blow drying it, but it was frizzy and I didn't want to deal with my hair. Which was the whole reason I came to Hair cuttery, and I've gone to the Bradlee location before and thought I would try this location. I like the location since it's close to home and it's never super packed. I just think next time I'll pick another hair style who knows how to do black hair. She even refered me to go to another stylist named Key next time, who is African American. She said this as she was ringing me up, so it kinda made me feel like she doesn't really like to do natural curly hair, especially tighly coiled 4A hair like myself. My scalp is still curently dry af and I got my hair done of 1/5 and it is currnetly 1/10 ... It's dry from all the intense blow drying and I've been oiling my scalp, which has been helping. But honestly I'm gonna wash my hair and go back to my curls soon, since it itches. But overall just a bit pissed I spent $77 and was not satisfied with overall result. Especially when I was over charged or upcharged possiably because of my natural hair ... And also the fact that I've recieved a lot of silk presses before and know that my hair could have looked a lot better. Bottom line find a stylist that can do your hair type especially if you're black and you go to hair cuttery. Yes ideally hair stylists are supose to know how to work on all types of hair. But generally cacasian hair is prioritized and taugh more in hair schools. Also if they do know how to do it they might not have much expereince if they are not black. Just thought I would give this helpful piece of advice, so you can have a better experience than me. I gave 3 stars because I did appreciate that Shala made sure my hair was moisterized and that she took her time detangling my hair and did not rip through it.

Revised, 01-03-24. I knew that after speaking with the district manager (Jesse) that she wasn't professional either. She called me under the pretense of aiding me in the recent debacle at the Van Dorn location. She gave an insulting apology, followed by lies. She said she would refund my money, email me a confirmation of that refund, and send me the "original" stylist name that cut my hair correctly. I have yet to receive any of these things. I told her that she didn't know how to do her job (case and point). Why did you even bother to call me?I called and scheduled a trim w/one stylist (the night before) and when I came in for my appointment, she wasn't even scheduled to work that day. The old bait and switch for sure! Your business must be extremely slow, that was very underhanded! Now I'm at the counter lamenting between two women, to see who's going to take me. I end up with a stylist named Freweini. She was very apologetic for the misunderstanding. I told her that I wanted a trim. She combed me out and we AGREED on a 1 inch trim. However you know that didn't happen. When I left her chair she had cut 1 1/2 to 2 inches of my hair. I even showed her how long my hair was and how I style it. Then one of her colleagues immediately came over and swept my hair up so I wouldn't see how much had been cut off. This is just a deceitful establishment. You texted me a survey to fill out and then you never posted my review. Everyone there kept saying that the manager was coming in at a particular time but she never showed up. They kept telling me that I should tell the manager what I had experienced. The lady that cut my hair isn't a master hairstylist. Your hairstylist is supposed to do what you asked them. I just wanted a simple trim. This place should be closed down. Your work ethics are horrible and this location is being mismanaged. I'm going to file a report on this business!

Bait and Switch! I took my 2 teens in for a haircut. Then when I went to pay the bill the 2 haircuts cost $128! One of the stylists said because they have long hair and got a "deluxe blow dry." I DID NOT ask for that, nor was I ever asked if they could do that service. The stylist said she asked my daughter and she said yes. Obviously I am the one paying for the two because they asked me when I came in if I was paying for them together. When I expressed how this was not agreed upon nor offered to me - she said she couldn't change it. The computer "was slow" and then magically the computer worked and she could reduce it for a "short haircut". Robbery! I will NEVER go there again and am telling everyone to BEWARE! I would give them zero stars but this site won't let you post without giving at least one star.

I got my hair done and I just loved my experience so much I just had to come back and leave a review. It’s well deserved. My stylist was Halo she is new there and she was just the best ! She made sure anything she was okay with me, great conversations, willing to take on challenges, and just seems like she knows what she’s doing. I was very happy with my service !! I will most definitely be coming back just for her !

It was my first time going to this location. I did wash, cut, roller set, and straightening. The lady who did my hair was super nice and did a wonderful job on my hair. However, she was being domineering after I refused blowing drying my hair when I wanted to do roller sets for my hair. She kept complaining that I blow dry my hair which doesn't work for my hair type and wasn't respecting my boundaries after I said no numerous times.

To not have a single person on staff that can work on black hairstyles is unfortunate. I’ve been here twice, the first time I went I took a chance and had someone do my hair, didn’t turn out well. The second was to ask if they had anyone in staff that could do cornrows and curls. I was told no.

Went to have my roots done, dark brown hair. When she finished, my roots were blonde. She tried a second time and they still weren't brown. I had to leave. I will be dealing with this through an upper management route. Very disappointing.

The only hair stylist I trust here is Tuyen. I give Tuyen five stars and recommend her. she’s been cutting my hair for years. Other stylists here have ruined my hair. Unfortunately when I book an appointment with Tuyen on the hair Cuttery app, she’s often cutting someone else’s hair during the time slot I sign up for, which means I have to wait a while when I arrive. The hair Cuttery app gives false information on when she’s available and it’s frustrating (by the way the app charges you more for selecting individual hairstylists, so why am I paying extra when the person I select isn’t available during the time the app says they are?). Because of the app, I might have to find a different place to get my hair cut where I can trust every worker to do a good job on my hair.

I made an appointment on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 for Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 1:00pm; to have my daughters hair shampooed, blow dried, silk pressed and curled. We arrived at 12:55pm to two females at the counter. I stated the above and as one of the ladies calculated my total of a whopping $91. Come to find out this was the person (Belanish is her name) to service my child. As we walked to the back, I asked if she would like for me to detangle/comb out my daughters hair as she had just taken her braided out. Belanish with excitement stated yes and please. Not a problem, my daughter has long thick hair and I understand how intimidating it looks. As she walked away she offered to give us to another stylist, who replied I have two clients sorry. I didn’t say anything at this point because I wasn’t 100% sure Belanish was discussing us.As I’m combing her hair another customer comes in and seems to be a regular client of Belanish as she she was greeted with a smile, hug and excitement. This customer was lead to the back and was sat at the shampoo bowl. Belanish came over to ask if it was ok for her to just shampoo the other customer while I finished, I stated not a problem as I had about a quarter of my daughters hair left to comb out. It was at this point Belanish asked another stylist if they would take her customer, that stylist stated no, she had someone as well. At this point I went to let Belanish know that I was done and to my surprise she stated oh please wait until I’m done with my customer. I replied that no ma’am I made my appointment and it’s is my daughters time to be serviced. Would you know she stated was my appointment specifically with her. I told her I was not given a specific person however, you took us when we came in as well as but for me helping you do a service that I would be paying for you would be serving my child. I requested to speak with the manger and was told she does not work on Sunday’s and Thursdays. One of the other stylist a black woman stated she would be able to assist us later but because she had two clients we would have to wait. I thanked her and explained that we had other plans and would not be able to wait. Belanish literally never stopped serving her client. I requested the managers name (Daisy) and before I left I told Belanish this was unacceptable as well as I told the customer that it was completely rude of her to allow my child to be treated this way and for her graduation to be ruined. Not at any point did Belanish apologize or even try to correct the situation. I stepped out to explain to my husband what we were enduring he asked me to obtain the corporate office information; which I did when I went back into to the salon. I want to be very clear that I will NEVER PATRONIZE NOT ONLY THIS LOCATION BUT ANY OTHERS. And ask long as I’m a mother Belanish will be apologizing to my daughter.

It's better than some but not as good as others. One of the conveniences of Hair Cuttery is making reservations in advance which I did today for 3:15 pm and didn't get started until 3:40 pm. Overall it was an hour for two toddler haircuts with reservations. Not insufferable but I could typically do better than that walking into a barber shop.

Stopped by for a much-needed haircut and had a great experience! I was helped by Zarina who was incredibly nice and was very helpful. I have very thin hair, so it's difficult to get volume. Most hairdressers ignore my request to add layers and tell me my hair is too thin for layers, but Zarina did an absolutely AMAZING job! She added so many beautiful layers and my hair is no longer weighed down by all that excess length. She also gave me some recommendations on volumizing products to use at home.Services: Blowdry

Honestly, would not got to this place again. I asked for long layers and they gave me short layers, up to my shoulders; even though I specifically asked not to cut my hair short. Not only that, I came home to style my hair and the layers were cut uneven! They have bad customer service, talking rudely saying there’s nothing they can do about messing up the hair. Waste of time and money.

If I could, I would give this place no star. I took my sister yesterday to get a short haircut and since they had told me they provided kid's haircut I thought they knew what they were doing. Before starting, I specifically told the stylist (Nhi) more than once that I wanted her hair below her shoulders. She turns my sister around and while talking on the phone twice starts cutting. Then she said "ohh, I think I cut it too short." I get up and look and she had cut too short. Since she had cut a huge section it was too late to stop. When I asked her why she messed up, she said "it's ok.. I will try to not go shorter." After the haircut was done she keep talking rudely about how we were not hurrying up and taking so much time, while with another customer. The next day I look at her hair and there are long strands of hair still uncut. I understand that mistakes can happen but people should accept it and at least apologize.Service: Kids' cuts
