I waited a year to give this review because I wanted to see if it was my child or the school. My child left this school with a 2nd grade reading level going into the 4th grade. They never sit you down and come up with a plan for success. Often times I would ask my child what is the teacher teaching you if I have to teach you when you get home. Homework is supposed to be like practice work. Not learning how to do it as if it were the first time. I am proud to say that my child switched over to Prince William county and is now on her reading level and on the A & B honor roll. She also passed all of her SOL' s with no problems. Her teacher took the necessary time and attention to make sure my child succeeded. She set up multiple meetings with myself to come up with a plan for my childs success. This school did nothing like that. Instead one of the teachers that she had told me that she thought my child was getting by based on her looks. I have spoken with numerous parents as well whose kids attend Hybla Valley and they feel the same way I do. One of whom switched from prince William county to to this school and found that they are a lot more lenient and her kid was the smartest one in the class and getting in trouble because he was helping teach other students the material. In other words doing the teachers job.
